I tried a gyro and a baklava sundae, and it's my new favorite dessert. The combination of ice cream, nuts, cinnamon, and the flaky pastry was divine. There was music playing at almost every moment, and I got a glimpse of the performers as well (at least before I took cover from the rain). Besides all the tasty food and treats, they also had booths for t-shirts, gifts, and alcoholic drinks. It's a family friendly event too, and I'll definitely be back again next year!

Beer, Wine, liquor are all in abundant supply and the pastries are decadently delicious so it is definitely a must do on the festival schedule. After I checked in, the private event space at the ACE Hotel greeted me, with it's cool drippy candle chandelier. Drinks readily available at a bar set up for event patrons. Several eateries had set up sample tables, just begging for a tasting. The Big Cheesy stole my heart and taste buds and gained my solid vote for Yelps' award of best food. Yeah I called it, they won! An award ceremony followed offering awards for those Millennials chosen to represent the best of the best of 2018. It was short and sweet, but allowed for the winners to say a few words without wondering how long it might drag on. I was proud to applaud the winners and I will definitely return if I am invited next year. Damn I feel old....cheers youngsters, well done.

First of all, I loved seeing young professionals honored in their line of work. These people are dedicating their lives to helping their community, making our city better and making a difference. I loved the way that everything was set up from the display of people's names and photos as the nominees were called to the exit music, which was a nice touch. All of the winners were incredible, but the one who made an impression on me was Sophia Aomo Omoro, the winner of the fashion award. She is also a head and neck surgeon who hails from a small village in Kenya and graduated from Tulane. Her speech was about finding your purpose in life and doing what you are called to do to make the world a better place. I found her words inspiring, especially during these turbulent times and it just made me think that we should all focus on making the world a better place and appreciating those we love, because tomorrow isn't promised. Thank to Yelp and CM Morgan F. for the opportunity to attend the awards and learn more about the young people who are making a difference in our community. Thank you to the Spears group for including me, as well.

There is a ton of parking. The only downside is that it is out at the furthest point from New Orleans, or so it seems. When we arrived, there were apparently two different lines, but there was no clear signage and no staff directing people where to go. When we asked for clarification, the manager was incredibly rude. If someone on my team treated guests that way, they wouldn't be working for me. We decided to leave and grab a drink elsewhere. Later that night, after the crowds had cleared, we walked back and went inside. As soon as we entered, there was an extremely intoxicated man yelling at the bartender. Despite his behavior, he was allowed to stay. During our second round of drinks, my Tito's and soda was accidentally knocked over while it was being handed to me. The bartender refused to remake it, insisting that I had knocked it over and claiming I was drunk--which was completely untrue. The drink probably cost less than fifty cents to replace, yet they chose to argue with a paying customer instead of providing basic customer service. When I asked to speak with the manager, he came over yelling and refused to have a professional conversation. Instead, he called security to escort us out, while the visibly intoxicated man who had been yelling at the bar remained inside. I'm not a twenty-something who can't handle a drink, and I certainly don't appreciate being falsely accused and treated disrespectfully. The entire experience was unprofessional from start to finish. There are plenty of places in New Orleans that know how to treat their guests with respect. This won't be one of the places I ever return to or recommend.

The event was blessed with beautiful weather on Saturday and the crowds reflected it, as there were a lot of people on site; which is good for the venue. Admission was $10.00 for adults and children 15 and under received free admission. There was lots of free parking and kudos to the event for having a shuttle bus to run people back and forth from the parking lot to the venue. There were 3 seminars with Billy Thibodeaux of Premiere RV, Inc.; one each day of the event. As you walked in the door, you were immediately met by a 1923 Model T Dream Camper which tows its own outhouse. The owners, 78-year-old Rod Cathcart and 83-year-old Bob Barkwill, also provided live musical entertainment for the arriving guests. This event featured both indoor & outdoor displays, as well as several camping related vendor exhibitions. Local favorites such as Bent's RV, Berryland Campers & Dixieland RV were all on site and eager to make a sale; and I saw plenty of sales taking place during the 3 hours I was there. For the record, I am an RV fan and am fortunate that my father-in-law has a 36 foot RV that I get to use all the time. However, even if you are not in the market for an RV or a trailer, this venue is a perfect and inexpensive way to keep your young children occupied for a good half a day. Now if your child is anything like mine, he'll want to board nearly every single trailer, toy hauler and RV at the exhibition, and you'll be pretty tired by the time you chase him/her around all day. This is good wholesome fun for the family and I hardly wait till next year. There is something for everyone here, as you can get a travel trailer for as little as $10,000.00 or a luxury Class A Diesel Motorhome for $500,000.00.
