This company ordered a large shipment of outdoor tile. When it was delivered, there were several…read morebroken tiles in the shipment. When I brought it up with Cary (owner) , he was unwilling to replace them and was abrupt in the way he communicated. Typical small town business, little wonder why big box stores thrive.

Last year I visited this store to choose tiles for a bathroom and a hall floor. The lady who helped us choose the tiles was exceptionally helpful and the order was placed. After the tiles had arrived I had occasion to call the store again and ask for some more of the hall tiles. I spoke then with Carey (spelling) who told me that the person who had served us had made a mistake with the pricing of the hall tiles and had in fact sold us the tiles at cost (these tiles were going out of production so I hadn't queried the price of them at all). He was a little annoyed it seemed that I had received such a good bargain but I did point out that I had bought the bathroom tiles as well at full price so I didn't feel too guilty. It was not our mistake anyway. He was extremely unhelpful when I spoke to him about ordering more of the hall tiles so I didn't go ahead (and the price difference was high). Today I had occasion to try and order more of these tiles and called Small's again and had the misfortune to speak to the same man. When he realised who I was he was quite rude and said he would have to call me back - which of course he has not done so and it was quite plain he had no intention of doing so. I find his attitude quite appalling and I don't think he should treat customers that way. Since buying the tiles there I have bought two more lots of tiles from a different store where I was treated very well so he lost business because of his attitude and I would never recommend this store to anyone. The pricing mistake was not ours and we did not deserve to be treated in this manner.

The one star is only because you have to rate by them in order to post…read more We recently purchased flooring from this store. The sales person asked us "are you going to use our installer". We said yes. We asked about product an labour warranty. We could read the flooring warranty and she told us that there is a 2 year labour warranty. Leading us to believe the installer was theirs. We were only told that Jake, their installer, would be calling us. She contacted him, he contacted us. The installer came, introduced himself as Jake, no company name or business card to differentiate himself. Just a price. I was still under the impression that he worked for Kelowna Carpet Superstore. After he measured, we questioned his measurements twice and asked if he was installing under the dishwasher twice. He assured us twice that he measured right and confirmed twice that he was installing under the dishwasher. Not only did their installer Jake in fact measure incorrectly, he damaged our brand new cabinets by cutting the flooring on them. He put 5 seams in our kitchen where there was one before. His cuts are not straight, and one seam, which we discovered later, is a "banana" cut. He used translucent caulking instead of clear to hide the damage to the cabinets and crooked cuts. He displayed no control of his caulking gun. He got caulking a half inch and more in spots up the sides of our cabinets and kick plates, 3" up the wall in one spot and about 18" up the cabinets in another spot. Meanwhile, he left caulking voids along the floor for water and debris to get in, and in the bathrooms, he used caulking to fill gaps along the tub and shower due to his crooked cuts, leaving the flooring exposed to water damage, mold and mildew. When we first contacted the store owner Shaun, we were only aware of the damage to the cabinets and seams. Do to this shock, we did not notice the caulking mess, the caulking voids, gaps and other deficiencies until later. When I initially phoned Shaun about the cabinet damage, excessive seams and mis-match flooring, his response was "It is what it is". When they came out to look at the work, the installer offered nothing but excuses. The cuts to the cabinets were no big deal to him, but the excuses were plenty. One seam was there because the wall was out. This is a 2" seam and he had 3 feet of extra material to work with. No need for a seam. Another seam was at 8 and 1/2 feet. He had 10 feet of material, so 1 and 1/2 feet of extra material. He installed flooring to the dishwasher, not under as we asked twice and he confirmed twice, therefore there is a seam at the dishwasher door because he measured wrong. He basically pieced the kitchen area together. He ruined our renovation. He also damaged the wall in our bathroom and accused me of doing it. During this visit to our home, the store owner, Shaun, insulted our home, calling our kitchen a "bad layout", so blaming our kitchen design for the bad installation. He wanted to charge us $400 (which if measured right, would have only been $80) for new material because his installer measured wrong and mis-cut the flooring in the kitchen, he wanted us to pay for the plumber to come back and re-install the dishwasher, and his installer would do the work in about two weeks. So at $400, instead of $80 for material, plus $80 for the plumber, this was Shaun's version of customer service and making it right to include the labour. Another $480 plus taxes. Would have been about $150 plus taxes to do it right the first time. You do the math. These guys were not very cordial in our home at all. In the meantime, we got a damage quote from the cabinet installers, phoned Shaun to tell him how much, he contacted his installer, and Shaun got back to us, not the installer. Again, he contacted their installer. Since our first call to report damage and deficiencies, the other deficiencies surfaced, and the whole floor needs to be replaced. We went to the store and advised Shaun of these new found deficiencies and wanted resolution. He was not interested in listening, instead deferring to his installer. He again contacted the installer while we were at the store. The installer came out again, he went through the motions, but did not listen to our concerns and offered nothing outside Shaun's initial response. In the end, Shaun has absolved himself, offering no customer service now, only deferring to and agreeing with the installer. **We only found out when we paid the installer that he was a different company, Performance Floors. See that review as well. Bottom line, do not buy flooring from Kelowna Carpet Superstore. Patrick A.
