Everyone was wonderfully kind to us and extremely attentive, making sure we could handle extra spices and even altering the spice levels for us (we like things hot!). They were even concerned when they saw I didn't have my free drink bottle on the table (I'd opted to save it for later in the night) and wanted to make sure I didn't leave without one. It was the only open Thai place in the area with vegan/vegetarian options. It seemed like we had arrived just before or after they'd opened for the night, and it was eerily quiet. I kind of wish they'd had music playing a bit louder to drown out the awkward silence, but the scenery of the mountains was enough to keep us occupied for the duration of our meal. As for my meal, I ordered a vegetable & tofu red curry with rice. This was the first time my curry ever had a bubbly texture at the surface, and I quite enjoyed it! The tofu would've been better if it was fried or baked beforehand, but it was filling and tasty altogether. A gem of a travel stop!

Thai Square is right across the road from the Carrington Hotel and service was so quick and friendly. The meal arrived in under 5 minutes which I assumed meant it would be terrible, but it was really great! Good flavor, well cooked and fine ambiance for a quick and easy meal that is affordable. Stumbled across this place - and very glad I did! They have $9.90 lunch specials with a wide range of traditional Thai dishes. The dishes we had included: Red Curry, Pad Siew, Rad-Na, Seafood Tom Yum Noodle Soup and Kway-Tee-Ao (Traditional Thai street-food noodle soup). All the Thai people I was with said that the food was excellent and very "Thai style" which is about as good a compliment as you can get for a Thai restaurant outside Thailand. They obviously have one chef at lunchtime as the dishes came out one-by-one, but again... that's Thai style, and we had everything within 10 minutes as they're quick to cook. The Thai waitress was very friendly and personable and recommended certain dishes and it was no problem to "tweak them" to a local version for my Thai friends. Can highly recommend this place if you're in Katoomba - especially for lunch when the dishes are a lot cheaper. A great and authentic Thai restaurant.
