IGNOR THE LISTING SAYING IT'S IN STAFFORD IT IS NOT, IT'S ACTUALLY IN BOVINGTON IN DORSET BUT QYPE DIDN'T RECOGNISE THE TOWN OF BOVINGTON SO I HAD TO GO THROUGH PLACES NEARBY UNTIL IT RECOGNISED SOMEWHERE JUST SO IT'D ADD IT MAYBE THE WEBSITE STAFF CAN CHANGE IT TO BOVINGTON COZ IT WON'T LET ME.# Anyway onto the review. An extremely poor day out, very very expensive to get in and to be honest not something that you want to do unless all you want to do is look at tanks. Yes yes I hear you say why go there if you're not that keen on just tanks, well we wrongly assumed it would be a more rounded museum like the Imperial war museum or something like that but we realised after taking out a second mortgage to get in that it is just one boring tank after another and we found we wanted to snooze after half an hour. Don't even allow carers in free or reduced. Plenty of parking but give it a miss.

If you are really into tanks, armoured cars and all things military then this is the place to visit, they have displays from all eras and areas. They have around 300 vehicles on display and are all undercover ,so ideal if its raining, they even have a few tanks which you can climb inside and explore. The displays are organised into categories i.e WW1,WW2 through to modern day challenger tanks. We particularly enjoyed the section which recreated like the trenches of ww1,where you could walk through and experience trench life including a full size tank over the top of you!! Overall this is a brilliant attraction to visit, reasonably priced and because they have a cafe there you could easily spend all day here.

This tank museum is ranked the top 3 tank museum in the world and I have to say it's up to its ranking. Hundreds of tanks from various periods restored perfectly and stored in air conditioning museum. I can see the British treasure their tank collection very much, unlike the United States Army Ordnance Museum that left all the tanks outdoor and got rusted. Horrible. It's about 2 hour drive from London but you will know it's worth your drive once you get there. It's absolutely a must-go attraction for tank lovers.

Right, 5 star rating for sure here. What a (as the name suggests) treasure!…read more Firstly, a stunning drive to our destination which always puts you in a good mood (and the baby sat chattering in the back instead of screaming which always helps mummy!) and pulling into a carpark with ample parking which makes us smile was a good start to our day out. When we entered we were greeted by a lovely lady who ushered us through to the museum part. Entry was £8 each for adults, and boo was free as she is under 6. She gave us a map and some information before we entered and then we turned around to the treasure trove within. This is a place that will throw you back into different era's. There is something for everyone ranging from tractors to toys, from clothing to cigarettes. I particularly enjoyed the old alcohol miniatures and paraphernalia, and hubby enjoyed the toys and electronics. There is a massive collection of colourful tractor seats in the last room which is beautiful to see. You can spend hours in front of one cabinet here. The women's hygiene/cleaning products were so fun to see, as was the gorgeous wedding dress donated by a lady who wore it in 1955 (or around then) Collections of many different types of things are on display here (shaving pots, steam engines, tins, signs, tobacco and alcohol stuff, perfume, books etc it just goes on) There is a café attached which we didn't have time to relax in, but it looked lovely. A very small gift shop which I think they could make bigger and have more items for sale, but we got two very humourous postcards and a magnet to take home. I am so glad we came here, boo was enthralled the whole time (only problem she wanted to touch it all haha) Would come again as you would see different things every time.

Well perhaps Oakham Treasures is the ticket for you. You will happily be able to spend a few hours on a trip down memory lane here. Relatively new to Bristol opening in 2008 Oakham is a fascinating collection of memorabilia, everything from vintage sweets to huge tractors are on display! It's £6.50 for one adult, or 2 adults and 3 children can get in for just £15! Something for everyone.

The photo shown is scaplen's court museum. This is a smaller town house museum and is only open to…read morethe public during August. It shows demonstrations of everyday life through the years. Next to Scaplen's court is the Poole Waterfront museum. Having only recently re opened after a huge redevelopment this is the home of the Poole longboat an iron age longboat which was found off the coast and has been preserved. As well as the long boat there is plenty to see from old shops laid out as they would have been in the years past to the stories of the smuggling that took place many years ago and that Poole is known for. There is also areas dedicated to the town as it is now with videos on sunseeker one of the towns biggest companies. There are plenty of car parks within walking distance and you are a stones throw from the quay itself. I am not sure of the cost for entrance as Poole residents get free admission but it is always good to know about the town you live in and The Poole water front museum does that.
