Such a cute shop! Boutique items! clothes, souvenirs, lotions, fudge!!, home decor, and more! The staff was so kind! Don't miss this gem!

While on the hunt for local goodies I could bring back to the Valley as Christmas presents, I found this little gem. Caulk full of great smelling items from candles to Huckleberry lotion. They had very well put together Christmas decorations already on full display, their trees were just gorgeous. The home-made (well, store-made, in their on site kitchen) fudge was terrific! I sampled the Maple, but wound up buying 1/4 lb of the Heavenly Hash - a chocolate base with all sorts of finely ground nuts. My boyfriend had a bite of the Butter Rum with Sea Salt, and said it was yummy, but I'm not a Sea Salt kinda person so I took his word for it. The friendly ladies behind the counter were helpful and pointed out some of the local items. I appreciated them taking the extra step of carefully wrapping my glass jar of jam before placing it in the bag. I only grabbed a small amount of the items I'll need before making a care package and send it out, so you can be sure I'll be back! read more

Unfortunately the customer service is not the greatest here. Would really have loved to feel a little bit more welcome into they're shop.

Anything you can buy in The Sycamore Tree can be found for way cheaper on Amazon and, where the owners of the Sycamore Tree will willfully screw you over, Amazon has some of the best rated customer service in the US. The Sycamore Tree sells infused vinegar on tap that comes in their own bottles, but they told us that, so long as the bottles had their capacity labeled on them so they would know how much to charge, they would fill them up and charge per milliliter. We wanted to give gift baskets with little bottles full of a wide variety of vinegars and oils, but the prices of their smallest bottles were too expensive to do that, so we bought smaller bottles on Amazon. When they came in, it turned out that they didn't have their capacity labeled, so we cleaned them and went in with a measure so we could prove how big they were. We also brought the box they came in that listed how much the bottles could hold. The woman who was at the counter rudely told us that she would not fill them because, without a number on the bottle, she wouldn't be able to tell how much the bottle holds. We explained to her that we could prove how many milliliters the bottles could hold and showed her the measurement we brought as well as the box. She refused to budge, repeating that she wouldn't be able to tell how much the bottles could hold. So we asked to speak to the owner and she came in and proceeded to argue with us that, even though we could clearly prove what the capacity of the bottles was, filling them violated her policies for the store and she wouldn't fill them. We argued with her for close to an hour, pointing out repeatedly that she had customers who were eager to buy close to $50 worth of vinegar and that she had no real reason to refuse us, but she never offered a single reason that an exception couldn't be made. Toward the end of that hour - in which she and two other staff remained engaged in conversation, she finally said that she had intended the policy of filling bottles that people brought in so people with bigger bottles could fill up, not smaller bottled (even though no such thing was mentioned in the two times we checked that policy and she acknowledge that). She then said that it would take staff more time to fill those bottles and lower her profits. When I pointed out that it would have taken five minutes for one staff to fill all the bottles and she and two staff had spent an hour arguing with me, she said that we could fill our smaller bottles, but she would charge us the amount for her bigger bottles. The entire debate was filled with the owner contradicting herself and grasping to come up with desperate excuses not to take our money. And every time we pointed out that she had contradicted herself or used an absurd logical fallacy to support her position, instead of acknowledging it and apologizing, she got angry. How dare we expect her to be honest and logical? Dear owner of the Sycamore Tree, guess what? Amazon sells equally good vinegar for half the price so we were able to give full bottles for less than you should have charged us for the small ones if you had honored your word. And as we looked online for vinegar, we decided to look for other things you sell in your store. Everything was available on Amazon for way less. Your thinking is stuck in the middle ages. Just because you're the only store in 300 miles that sells flavor infused vinegar, doesn't mean that we can't get it shipped to our house for less in 2 days. Harry Selfridge was wrong when he said that the customer is always right, but if you can't explain to the customer why he's wrong without contradicting yourself and grasping for straws in ways that show that you're only refusing him to go on a power trip, then you're a terrible business owner and a bad person. You clearly don't understand how modern business works. When I first bought vinegar from you, I told quite a few people about how great the product was. When you refused to fill my bottles and couldn't give a logical reason for your refusal, I told everyone I could talk to why they should avoid your store. I'm online right now warning people. My wife and I have both given your shop bad reviews online. So not only have you lost the $100-$200/year that we used to spend at your store, you've lost several other customers as well who now realize that they can put their Amazon Prime membership to better use. The people we gave Amazon vinegar to loved it and bought more, but they purchased it from Amazon. Businesses in small towns don't deserve local support - they have to earn it. The days of "if you can't find it in town, you're out of luck" are long past. And I will continue to make sure that anyone who brings up The Sycamore Tree hears all of the reasons not to shop there. For most of them, the fact that you were inexcusably rude to us will affect them far less than the fact that they can get anything you sell from Amazon for cheaper. read more

We stopped by on a road trip, excited to get our 4 kids some fudge and do a little shopping. The store has some unique items but unfortunately, the woman behind the counter was extremely rude and impatient. While my 9 year old niece was trying to decide on her flavor of fudge (there are about 20 different flavors), the woman was obviously annoyed at the amount of time she was taking and said some rude words to her. My niece was embarrassed, and the funny thing was that there was no one else in the store, so we didn't understand the rush. A person serving samples of fudge behind a counter to children should be a bit nicer and patient. She was also short and rude to me while I purchased some other items. We'll stick to the ice cream shop around the corner for future pit stops. read more

Great quality gift selection, awesome fresh fudge (samples!) and florist. This is the place to post your 'wish list' for everything from pottery to Crabtree and Evelyn. The staff are over-the-top helpful, and the owners are amazing. Well worth a trip to Historic Baker City's downtown. Two great brew pubs within a block of the store, and lots of other nice shops close by. read more
