The Good: 1) The nurse who saw me first for an interview was very friendly and was quite chatty as she took my blood pressure, my height and weight, and went through the lifestyle q's (smoking, alcohol intake, etc.) 2) The doctor who saw me afterwards to complete the registration process was friendly as well. I'm pretty sure I'll feel comfortable seeing her for whatever cold/flu/broken toe will ail me in the next few months. The Bad: 1) The registration process took 2.5 hours. That is insane!!!!!!! I've registered at other surgeries before and it averages to be about 20 minutes. The actual interview with the nurse took 10 minutes and the interview with the doctor took 10 minutes. You can do the math on how long I was waiting....... 2) Registration can only take place between 8:30-10:30AM. This wasn't so awful - I learned my lesson and will check the website next time I register with a GP. 3) There's no parking. So if you're planning on registering here, I suggest walking or taking public transportation to get here if you don't want to constantly feed the parking meter. In summary, this surgery gets 3 stars because the nurse and doctor are great and in the end, office operations really aren't their fault. However! The way an office is maintained and managed is a big part for patients so if there's anyone there reading this, please don't take offence but as a constructive criticism to improve.

Having moved when our last practice was merged, my wife, daughter and I have been with the Wellesley Road practice for a couple of years now, and from our past experience of three other London practices over thirty or so years, this by far comes up the best. That is not to say it is perfect; that is not a term applicable to a healthcare practice. Now retired after a full stint, I do have my share of health issues, and although nothing too serious yet, the quality of attention and care I have received at this practice; from the receptionists, and the nurses and of course most importantly, the doctors, have been very good, and the best between the practices we've been with. My wife who still works as a senior manager and our daughter who is a post graduate student, are in complete agreement. Of course there has been the odd occasion when one would have wished it could have been a little different, but each time it could have been the pressure of work; and indeed, this is an extremely popular and busy surgery. From our experience so far, we would like to say, 'Well done, Wellesley Road Surgery, and thank you.' I can see from previous comments, that where they have been constructive complaints, the practice appears to have tried to find solutions. and there are some very positive things achieved. With the UK having the least number of GP surgeries per 1000 population compared with the rest of Europe, it could be that finding solutions to the more common problems such as waiting times, is not always possible.

As I am local, I had to see Dr's there couple of times, and every time I go there, the female Drs…read moreseems always angry or frustrated and one of east European Dr seems always not present and un-forcusted as taking her private phone calls during the examination and in her private chat on the phone for some times, or totally forgettable as my flat mate saw her for his ankle sprain, my flat mate told me she asked him many times which ankle is the one she's examining. Those unprofessional attitudes hurt me when I am seriously asking the cure,.... Hope I can find a better NHS Surgery in my local.

We registered here as we thought, well is near us and it seems quite complete children and adult immunisation, post and ante natal clinic, chiropody, repeat prescriptions and mental health. Anyhow, when my daughter got sick we came here for one of the 10 minute appointments with the GP, she gave us very little re assurance of what the problem was, she had to read in a book to diagnose the medicine and quantity (you might think, she was double checking, it didn't feel like that) and she answered a personal phone call in the middle of our 10 minute appointment. She stayed on her mobile for a third of the time. I was astonished and so was my husband, when we left the pharmacist told us the steroids she had prescribed weren't necessary and it was too strong for a 9 month old child (see West London Pharmacy, to see the end of that). And on another occasion when I had my back problem, another doctor (of the same practice) who seemed a lot more knowledgeable but still suggested that if the pain persisted he would prescribe some sort of Valium! Oh! and he printed a bunch of papers from the internet about back pain. I couldn't help but compare the service here with the treatment I get with my Chiropractor (see Chiswick Park Chiropractic Clinic). Of course one is free, the other one is not. From the moment he arrived here he has required constant treatment, and this has been given unstintingly by the Practice. Initially it dealt successfully with months of leg ulcers, then it's been respiratory problems, seizures, nocturia etc. Whatever the problem, the staff and doctors of Chiswick Health Practice have given first-rate excellent treatment, making home visits, giving referrals for specialist consultations, whatever has been needed. The GP practices my parents were with in Norfolk fell short of the mark, as did a practice in Chiswick attended by another family member, but Chiswick Health Practice has given wonderful treatment - and lots of it - for my father. I think they are outstanding.

The Portland Road Practice has a large, spacious waiting area with plenty of magazines and toys for…read morechildren to play with. There are 4 doctors available but it is sometimes tricky to get an appointment if you are not flexible with time. I've found early morning (8.30am is when they open) or late afternoon to be the most successful times. A really good extra is they have a full travel clinic that will give you prescriptions and administer most jabs needed for travel in Africa, Asia etc.

Very nice doctor and because they're attached to the hospital if you need any tests etc doing they have full use of all of the facilities which was great.
