If you are a Veteran or a US Military Retiree who ignorantly assumes your VA insurance or Tricare…read morewill cover Emergency Room visits at this hospital, then I highly encourage your family members to take you to another Emergency Room - avoid Jack Hughston if you can! In March 2025, I fell off of a tree that collapsed onto my house and seriously injured my hip. I had a bulge sticking out of my hip about 6 inches and I could not put pressure on my left foot. The pain was horrible and my wife took me to this Emergency Room (as it was only 5 minutes from my house, very convenient). After multiple treatments for pain and xrays, the doctor told my wife and visiting church members that I either broke my hip or that my left leg came out of socket (due to the swelling and temporary disfigurement. Later, an MRI determined that I had a deep bone contusion. As we visited that Emergency Room in the past, paying no more than a Tricare covered co-pay, this hospital was always convenient - until I received a bill for $3,844.61. I informed Jack Hughston that I had both VA insurance and Tricare to cover the costs Jack Hughston then informed me that VA and Tricare covered their parts of the insurance and I still owed them $3,844.51. I informed my wife that, no matter how bad I am injured in the future, we will not go to this hospital (5 minutes from my home) ever again but, instead, drive to the Fort Benning Emergency Room (35 minutes away). Sincerely, Daniel M.Longstreet, Sr. Phenix City, AL

This hospital needs an attitude adjustment. They really need some lessons in bedside manor. Then the go up to the glass tower and play on there phones.

In order to get the proper scan to further diagnose the damage they said that Piedmont had the MRI that i needed as they're a trauma center. So i went there, triaged and waited, when the pa came in he did not even look in my ear, but said '...if you're not bleeding or dying you dont need to be in the ER". I then received a bill for $1200. I don't ever mind paying a bill for services rendered, but refuse to pay for subpar care. BEWARE, do NOT go to Piedmont Midtown in Columbus GA unless you are bleeding or carried by ambulance where you have no choice. If i could rate them less than 1, i would. Definitely go to St Francis for actual CARE

Everyone listened to me carefully and treated me with respect, They were all very bright, quick, and possessed keen senses of humor, helpful in tense situations. I knew that I was in good hands. I only had to wait for a few minutes. Within a few hours, I spoke to nurses, received a battery of 4 tests, was diagnosed, given meds and a shot, and out the door. For all of these reasons, I highly recommend the ER at Piedmont Columbus Regional. I am very grateful to each person who helped me.

This review would be 5 starts if it were just for the equipment/technology that this hospital…read moreutilizes. It's a beautiful space. In addition, the maternity ward was pretty amazing. Cafeteria could use some work (food was normally lukewarm or cold, but I guess you can't expect much from hospital food, right?). Had some issues with my pediatrician - he brushed me off the first time my baby had a cold, saying it'll happen and not to come back unless she has a fever. Then she got RSV a month later (with no persistent fever) and if I hadn't taken her to the ER based on my instincts, I don't know what would've happened. Luckily it never got to the point where she wasn't breathing, but she started getting chest retractions and it was terrifying. I brought this up at her next appointment, saying that he was pretty condescending and his attitude made me hesitate when she was sick. In addition, any time I have an appointment in the afternoon, it's always super late. It wouldn't suck as much if I lived remotely close to the hospital, but it's an hour round trip, which makes it a PITA if you have a baby whose entire world depends upon you. They could at least give me a heads up with a phone call or something, right? Broke my ankle a few years ago, and although I didn't know it was broken yet, I went in for an x-ray, saying that it was so painful that I couldn't sleep and all they gave me was naproxen (i.e., "ranger candy") which didn't help at all. I wasn't given any form of decent pain medication until weeks later, and the treatment plan wasn't clearly outlined or given to me, and it took THREE MONTHS from the time my ankle was broken to receive surgery to retrieve the bone shard in my ankle. My ankle still swells up occasionally after I walk more than a mile or two which sucks, but obviously it's not their fault I broke my ankle in the first place (I fell about 6 inches while rock wall climbing and managed to fall in just the right way...). Also, while I was pregnant, there was an gyno that was a complete jerk (to put it lightly) and I will never forget his name - Dr. Plunkett - because he was the only obstetrician that I never wanted to see again (I saw a different one pretty much every appointment during my pregnancy). Oh, and also went I went in for my scheduled induction, apparently they made the appointment wrong, and the department wasn't expecting me. So that left me sitting around in the cafeteria downstairs for a few hours while they contacted a surgeon to make sure they could be on hand just in case. The delivery team I ended up having was AMAZING, though. The facilities are GREAT. The organization/staff is hit-or-miss. Sometimes people working there are great, sometimes they're flat-out rude. This is my first experience with a military hospital, but I'll be looking for off-post providers when we PCS.

Dr saw us for maybe 3 minutes, swabbed for RSV then said it was negative and she just had a cold. I then asked if they could check her for strep and the dr goes " oh she doesn't have that" I asked "how could you know that without testing her?" " well strep doesn't cause a runny nose so just take her home and wait." I then raised concerns about her not eating or drinking very much and was told very condescendingly that "kids just don't eat when they're sick and just give her a popsicle" We went home with a nasal spray and that was it. Went to her pediatrician this morning and both of my children have strep!!!! Absolutely ridiculous care and lack of concern for an infant who has been sick/ not eating very much for 5 days. Don't come here if you want to be taken seriously at all about your sick child.
