Amber and Tabetha are incredible. From the minute we started the process to the minute we ended, it was a fun and relaxing experience. You can tell these girls know what they are doing and we immediately felt so at ease with their talent and bright personalities. The photos turned out incredible and they paid attention to every single detail. Our little guy melted in their hands and so did we. As soon as I came across The Studio's work while searching online, I knew they were who I wanted to do my maternity and newborn photos, and Amber and Tabetha did not disappoint! From start to finish, the whole process was a great experience. All communication with The Studio was friendly, professional, and prompt. My sessions were so fast, but not in a way that made me feel rushed--they are just very good at what they do! They made us feel very comfortable and didn't stop until they felt they got all the right shots. The photos are absolutely beautiful, and I couldn't be happier! read more

Hi all, I was referred to Amber by my sister since she took beautiful pictures of my nieces couple years ago. So, I reached out to her to book for my maternity and newborn sessions. ( I saw her amazing work and fully trusted my sister) - so in my mind thought it would be a simple and smooth process and absolutely nothing to worry about. I reached out to her to see her availabilities and price range/ packages for maternity and newborn. She replied back vary nicely and provided detailed price range for each package. I picked the package I wanted and she told me she will be setting up a quick talk over the phone to know each other and coming up with date for maternity photography. (I attached a picture to prove that) She then rescheduled twice and when I reached out to her she was ignoring me. I went ahead and checked out her page again and saw she Triple the price for maternity packages. (Are you seriously!! I couldn't believe it- that's why she never replied back to me) I do have pictures to prove that !!!!! Then, again I contacted her but she never got back to me since she jumped the price. As I mentioned, she was referred to me by my own sister and took pictures of my nieces but I can't believe she done that. She raised the price as soon as I talked to her. (She could have said the price are raising or here is a new price range rather than ignoring a customer) I ended up taking my maternity pictures with someone else who I truly honest. Ladies and gentlemen please look around before booking with her and have writing prove of her words. Wish you all the best read more

Amber did an amazing job on my maternity photo shoot and my infant's photoshoot. She was very professional and I felt comfortable the entire time. She has everything you need at the studio. Clothes, make up, hair, a scenic trail to shoot photos on which provides a great backdrop. She has a great eye for the perfect photo and there is an artistic aspect to each shot that I personally love. I chose the signature package which encompassed everything I needed for myself, my baby and my family. You get several shots to choose from, 5 outfit changes for yourself and you can add on more photos if you'd like. Amber even did a family shot and some pictures with the family pet and baby. I strongly recommend Amber for your photography needs. We will likely go back once our little one is a little older. read more

Amber is such a talented photographer. We brought our toddler in for a holiday mini session and I was stressed that we wouldn't get any good shots since her attention span is so short and she moves so fast. Amber was able to get so many beautiful shots in like ten minutes I was AMAZED. Definitely want to come back for my next maternity sessions and next newborn when we have another child. Best newborn & maternity photographer ever. Amber is the nicest most talented gal out there. Her bohemian and natural style photography is impeccable. I scouted around and found amber! God send! She doesn't make you look posey or over airbrushed like other photographers out there. Her Studio is amazing!!! So warm and welcoming. She also carries a variety of clothing as well. I had no idea what to wear, but it didn't matter! She helped me out from start to finish. Newborn session was a breeze! I came in and gave Amber my baby and she worked her magic. All I had to do was stay in the parent room drink some coffee and even took a little cat nap. She offers amazing packages that you can't pass up. She is worth the money! I still can't believe she was competitively priced and even much lower priced than other photographers that are not even in the same ball park as her. You will not be disappointed! Honestly her work speaks for herself. read more

So... after my maternity/newborn photographer went on hiatus, I was on a mission to find a new photographer for my daugher's 1 year photos. I wish I could say I found Amber right away... it took a year and a half until our paths crossed. We were at Back Bay one afternoon with our daughter when I saw the most beautiful maternity session taking place. I couldn't take my eyes off of them. It looked so peaceful and ethereal. The mother looked like a model (BTW all of Amber's clients are simply STUNNING) and the photographer looked super professional with her good looking videographer by her side ;) and all her accessories/props for her session. I had never come across a session like this. EVER. At the end of our "hike"... as we were walking to our car, I saw everyone standing and talking nearby in the parking lot. I walked up and asked her if she also did toddler sessions. To my delight, she said YES! She gave me one of her cards and I walked back to my car. Her business card was perfect... if it was an indication of the kind of work she was capable of, I knew I couldn't be disappointed. As soon as we got home, hubby and I went on her site. Each picture we saw was simply amazing. Each better than the last (if that was even possible). I emailed her immediately... told her I was the weird gawker from Back Bay. Warned her about my very feisty/squirmy/not so cooperative 2 1/2 yr old. And if she was up for the challenge, I would love to book a session with her. She fearlessly accepted. We started with a mini. The way my daughter was running around/away from Amber, I gave up any hope of getting a decent photo. When she sent me the gallery... I was SHOCKED. HOW did she manage to capture such images? Hubby received pictures for his birthday... to say it was his FAVORITE present ever is the understatement of the year. BTW... parts of this mini session ended up on her video. If you haven't seen it... you MUST. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBc7ucoXwG4 (Doesn't it just warm your heart?) Fast forward a few months later... Amber posts on her Facebook about this ridiculously adorable dress. Would anyone buy it and let her photograph the "model". I accepted this challenge as we needed to book our daughter's 3 year pictures. This time, I was smart enough to book a full session instead of a mini. And this session would be no less challenging for Amber... just having woken up from a nap, we had a very cranky (and still tired) 3 year old. (*sigh) I prayed that Amber would be able to work her magic despite the uncooperative "model". When the gallery arrived... I almost cried it was so beautiful. Every picture was so angelic. Since our first encounter... we have not only built a lasting business relationship, but a friendly one as well. So, when she informed me that she would be opening a new studio... I was thrilled for her (both as a client and friend). When we went to her open house, you could tell that blood, sweat and tears went into creating such a warm and inviting studio for her clients. The organization of all her props... the play area for the kiddos (my 3 yo definitely approved) and just the coziness of the studio itself, despite it's huge space. Overall... There aren't words to describe the kind of pictures she captures. The mood that takes over when viewing her photos. The images that we will treasure FOREVER. We truly believe that Amber is WORTH. EVERY. PENNY. You will NOT be disappointed. read more

This was a present for my Wife. Sugar Free was chosen because of the previous allotment of pictures we had gone through to choose the right photographer. Every picture you see, you can tell they took pain staking time to do correctly. No double chins, perfect lighting, and incredible facial expressions caught at just the right time. Anyone can take a picture, but Sugar Free Photography has talent. So, this is a step by step rating of Sugar Photography. We have already done the first 2 steps and have been thrilled with the way things have worked out so far. Step 1; The Consultation: An introduction to you and your photographer and crew. You know, most people will actually try to up-sell you on product. Amber and Tabetha listened to our needs and became creative with our budget, this made us feel comfortable with what we were getting, as they had a lot of options available. Then they showed us around the studio , the dressing room, the kids room, and the adult lounge room. Both are incredibly nice and you can tell they love what they do. Step 2; Day of the Shoot: PREPARATION We had Elfie Simon as the make-up artist. She did an amazing job with not only make-up , but hair as well. She left my wife feeling like a princess, and she couldn't help but takes a few selfies with her new look. When it came time for dresses, Tabetha, Amber and my wife went through their inventory of dresses to find just the right ones... They picked a couple I thought would look horrible, but they were right they looked incredible. INDOOR SHOOT They had a setup designed and ready for my wife. It was easy to work with. They positioned her into some weird positions, that ended up with her at one point almost tipping over which was pretty funny... but the positioning is key to get the best shots. OUTDOOR SHOOT We had selected to do the beach photography. We followed them to the beach and made our way down to the shoreline. The dresses there flowed beautifully with the breeze and you could tell that the photo's they were taking were going to be gorgeous. If Tabetha hadn't been there, my wife would have fallen a couple of times. They moved her location around a bit to get different angled shots. They were great to work with. Now we are just waiting for the photo's. read more

There's no better choice or photographer in Orange County in my mind and I would give more than 5 stars if I could. Amber is the ultimate professional and has been photographing our babies (and my belly!) for over 5 years. She knows her craft to a T, is completely dedicated to it, and produces the most gorgeous images every single time. I'm obsessed! Her studio is incredibly comfortable and family friendly (hello snacks for kiddo, play room, and AppleTV!) and she is incredibly easygoing and FUN to hang out with. She connects so well with her clients and I'm incredibly grateful she is local. Amber/Naturally Newborn is the real deal! read more

Absolutely incredible maternity experience. Hands down the best maternity photographer in OC! Her styling, posing, and sweet personality are just a few of the reasons you should hire her! I have had the honor of having Amber being my photographer twice. The first time was for my daughters cake smash and the second one was my maternity pictures. Both times I was absolutely astounded with the quality and creativity of the photos I received. This last maternity shoot I did turned out absolutely stunning to the point where I cried when she showed me my sneak preview. She captured my daughter and I perfectly. Unfortunately her molars were coming out during the time of the shoot and she was very fussy and irritated. I was so worried we wouldn't get any good shots, but Amber was so patient and kind- she managed to capture her perfectly anyways , even with the elements working against her. She didn't miss any moments at all, in fact she captured some that I didn't even see. I already came in with high expectations because I have seen her work before, but this time I was absolutely blown away to the point of tears. You get what you pay for when hiring a photographer, and Ambers work is investment that any family should make. In terms of photography she is top tier- if you go through her your getting the best of the best. The pictures she took I will cherish for a lifetime, I am so so grateful for my experience with this company. read more

I researched what feels like every photographer in Southern California for weeks. There are many factors that go in to choosing a photographer for a special and one-time only occasion such as maternity and newborn photos for your first-born. I wanted everything to be perfect. I liked her style, the session fee wasn't over the top crazy expensive and she was prompt and not overbearing when responding back. It was like a match made in heaven. I was a little late in booking my maternity session. I was about 33 weeks when we took the photos. Our son was born less than 2 weeks later so I'm glad we took the photos when we did! Amber was accommodating in fitting us in on such last minute notice. We met at the site and that's where the magic happened. She's like a miracle fairy when it comes to photography. Different angles, lighting, focus, poses....a slight detail can make all the difference in the world and she knows how to highlight the best. Fast forward two weeks later: Me: "Heeeey Amber, I had the baby!" Amber: "Wait, I thought you weren't due till March?" Me: "Yeah, he decided he wanted to come out the day after the baby shower." Amber: "Ok, does this weekend work for you?" Me: "Perfect!" Just like that she fits us in on a moments notice. Amber is patient. You need a patient photographer when it comes to photographing newborns. Newborns do what they want, when they want. She brings all the props to you including a little heater. Every single pose I was like, "aaaawwww." When we saw the proofs I liked so many of the photos it was so hard to choose. Everything is delivered in a timely manner and the photo quality is excellent. The only downside is the photos are a little expensive, but I know that's to be expected. That being said, I don't regret one penny I spent. Thanks Amber for making our special occasion memorable and something we'll cherish forever! read more

It was so nice to take our second child for newborn pixs with Amber. My husband and I are so impressed each time we get to see her work. She is so meticulous, patient, loving. I'm positive that my baby felt her positive energy and was able to calm down when away from her mama. Each move is deliberate and when everything appears good enough to us, she is still working to make the perfect setting. She is a real artist doing what she loves and we appreciate her! Her studio is perfect! Room for parents and another for children to play. The parent's lounge has a window so you can see what she is doing but be away do your baby won't smell you! Molly worked with her during our session and she is equally nice. We had so much fun! read more

I was 5 months pregnant when I booked took advantage of the Mother's day special. I choose the out of studio mini session. Close to the date, Amber was very good about communicating her concerns with the weather. We were able to work out an alternative day and time. That was a great start. The day of the photo shoot, I came in on time and her assist escorted me to the bk to wait for the makeup artist. I sat there for a long time. I think the assistant came in and told me she was running late. The make up artist was running late and apologized. I had a great chat with the makeup/hair gal....that was about my only conversation the whole time while I was there. So I finally met the photographer Amber and we were both pregnant so I struck up conversation about due date, kids related etc...but I was the one asking questions. Amber didn't have much to say other than a few words here and there. If anything, Tabatha her assistant said more to me. We got to the sight to take pix. It was quick because it was a mini-session. My husband was hoping we got some good pix with such a short period of time. I was optimistic! We got the email to view the pix a week and a half later. At first I was hesitant of what I was wearing and how I looked. The makeup looked fine in person, but in pictures, it appeared darker. Yes, everyone is their own worst critic but i was worry about what she can and cannot photoshop. Amber replied my email two days later and In that email, I also learned that she wasn't expecting me to be pregnant or else we would've had a regular or planning out the outfits better. She said just pick out the pictures and she'll show me a sample of what she can do. She did a pretty good with the pictures so I was happier about it. Amber was on maternity leave so Tabatha coordinate picture pick-ups. I asked about the free gift (don't kno what it is) to b picked up at the same time. My husband picked up and all we got was the 8x11. I emailed them and no response. I asked twice and no response so I am not going to be a pest and mention it again. I am a pretty easy person to pleased, but I took two stars away because 1) I didn't feel that Amber was/is friendly to strike up a conversation and 2) I didn't get a response about the free gift and even tho it was a mini-session, I should've got some kind of email or call to find out more about me. I filled out the information sheet but there were no room or area for me comment that I was pregnant. I felt that they could've reach out a little more especially for new clients trying them out. read more

Amber is amazing at what she does. She took pictures of my red headed girls (pictured here on yelp). The pictures she took are more than beautiful. She really connected with the girls and engaged them which made it so easy for the girls to listen when she asked them for a smile or a different pose. She really knows how to bring out the best in each child as she picked the location herself and it was truly perfect for my girls. The lighting, the background and entire setting as well as her after work on the photos made them masterpieces. We feel extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to have a session with Sugar Free Photography and were more than pleased with the prices and the packages we received. Pictures are something we can look back on forever and share with our children and they can share with their children. I know I love looking back on my childhood pictures just as I know my girls will as well. Cant wait to book our next session to show how much the girls are growing! We can't say enough about our wonderful experience with Sugar Free Photography! We live in Maryland and had a short time frame of days and times that we would be able to take our Baby Bump photos while visiting California. Amber's work is just beautiful and truly captures the essence of the subjects in her photography. We were so thrilled when she was able to juggle her schedule to find a time that worked for us while in town! She even traveled a good distance down to Temecula, CA to a beautiful vineyard for that natural light and naturally sweet setting. As a pregnant woman, feeling beautiful with a big belly, swelling, etc isn't always easy, but Amber made me feel absolutely gorgeous and radiant, and the photos are nothing less than exquisite! We have had endless compliments on the photographs. My husband and I will always cherish the precious moments she captured of my pregnancy. Both the individual shots and the shots of us as a couple are truly special. We will have 2 of them hanging proudly in our little boy's nursery, fondly remembering the journey of my pregnancy. Also, the package she put together for us was beautiful. The little details in the custom CD case make the whole experience come back to life. read more

Amber is a supremely talented artist! I purchased her Sugar Babies package, and so far, I have completed the maternity and newborn photos. I am beyond thrilled with both sessions. I am a single mom on a tight budget, but documenting these precious moments of life is a priority to me--Amber is worth every penny! Amber is so accommodating and easy to work with. She let me visit her studio before my maternity shoot to look through her wardrobe and to see what clothes I already had that would work--she has an extensive collection and we pieced together some great, fully accessorized outfits. Thanks to Amber's styling, guidance, and artistry, I look gorgeous in my maternity photos-not an easy task with all the changes my body went through; Amber works magic! When it came time to do my son's newborn shoot, I didn't even ask any questions; I let Amber do her thing while I relaxed in the front room. That is quite a testament to my faith in her talent as I am a bit of a control freak. Again, her work floored me, and I am SO thrilled that she captured my sweet son's first days in such a beautiful and special way. Those photos will be treasured for a lifetime. I am continually impressed every time Amber posts a new photo on her Facebook page. I just can't get over how gorgeous and unique every picture is. I look forward to my son's next two sessions (6 month & 1 year), and can only imagine how amazing those pictures will be. Not only is Amber a phenomenal photographer, she is also a super cool woman with great style that I enjoy chatting with. I highly, highly recommend her! read more

Definitely echo what the other reviewers have said...we are very happy with the photos of our newborn. Our friend used Amber for her two kids and we've always loved her photos. We looked around at other photographers, but Amber's photos stood out. So when our daughter was born, we knew we had to get some newborn pictures taken right away. Upon arriving at Amber's studio, we immediately felt comfortable with the environment she setup. She's definitely taken into consideration not only the baby, but also the people waiting. We brought our 2 year old to get some brother sister shots, and there's a waiting room with plenty of children's toys. Our son kept himself busy for about 30 minutes while we fed our daughter and got setup. Definitely recommend her and we're already looking forward to our next session with her when our daughter sits up. read more

Everything youre reading is true. Amber has a serious gift. I started my adventures with Amber as a gift of sorts to my man. He had been loving on my belly and I was... well... less than excited about feeling fat all the time... BUT nevertheless, I had gotten a referral from my friend Liz for this maternity photographer so, I thought "what the heck?!" And ever since then its been a match made in heaven. She and my now fiance planned a surprise engagement DURING our maternity shoot! So, thanks to her (and my man ;)) i have those memories in photos to cherish forever... but i digress... back to Sugar Free!.... Not only is she a magical maternity photographer (aka I actually look at my own belly pictures and love them) but she had this great maternity + newborn photography package. After our maternity photos came out as fabulous as they did, Amber was one of my first calls when I got out of the hospital! I wanted to get us in for those adorably squishy newborn photos ASAP! Cut to our newborn photography session and it was hilarious and magical. Amber had snacks and entertainment ready and waiting while she worked some magic with my son (and taught me about white noise and how I needed to get in on that). When she brought me in for some pictures with him he peed all over me (that would be the hilarious part... because that photo turned out to be beautiful) but Amber had the supplies for me to get cleaned up! (Shes super well prepared, can you tell?) Since then, we've had her take our family portrait too and... lets just say I'll be fighting all of you for a spot come holiday season! Anyhow, if youre looking for a maternity, newborn or family photographer, I HIGHLY (all caps, underline, bold) recommend Amber. :) read more

Amber got some beautiful pregnancy shots of me on the beach, but more importantly, got amazing photos of my newborn son. She was so patient during his photo shoot (which took place within a week of his birth). She waited for me to feed him (because he got a bit fussy), suggested a pacifier when he needed to be soothed, and really just took her time to get the shots she wanted. The photos turned out beautiful. I wish I would have gotten the package which included all the digital files since there were so many pictures that I wanted....it does get pricey when purchasing one by one. We had the pleasure of working with Amber for our family's Christmas portrait photos. In making my decision, I had researched tons of local photographers on line, looking at their web pages, checking out their prices and getting a feel for their style. The minute I found Sugar Free's site, I knew that we had found what we were looking for. Making the arrangements and communicating with Amber was seamless, so easy. She always returned my emails, answering all questions almost instantly. She was helpful, very knowledgable, and helped me pick the perfect spot (Crystal Cove) for our pictures. The welcome kit that she sends out is helpful because it also comes with a pricing guide and suggestions on how to coordinate your clothes (much needed for me!) And the quality of pictures! They turned out beautiful, way beyond what I had imagined. She captured the girls' individual personalities, the beautiful landscape. And, the products were hand delivered in the cutest packaging! :) I loved that her products were also eco friendly. Also, so very helpful was Amber's package pricing. We were able to select what items we wanted, and whew, not break our pocket book! She also offers installment plans. We're so glad that we picked Amber. She is a true professional.
