They have a huge range of fabrics on display for you to make just about anything you want! They also sell ribbons by the dozen, velcro, patches, buttons, zips, sequins and cottons (and probably loads more I've forgotten!). The shop is on 2 floors, but staff are so helpful that they will fetch anything for you if you are unable to get upstairs. All materials are sold by the metre so you can buy as much or as little as you want, and prices are very reasonable.

All the fabrics easy to get out, you just take your roll up to the counter and they measure and cut it for you. They do all sorts of ribbons, iron-on transfers, buttons, zips, cotton absolutely bloody anything to do with fabrics and sewing. All their fabrics is priced in metres, and they're quite cheap aswell. The only thing i hate about this shop is you cant quite get a buggy around the aisles.

The prices seem ok to me not as cheap as I've seen (but then the quality is good) but in line with most other fabric stores I've visited and cheaper than some! I visited yesterday as every January they run a sale with 20% off, which makes the prices much more competitive. The staff at Hansons are knowledgable, friendly and helpful and don't treat you like an idiot (even when you feel like one, for asking 'silly' questions!) I bought my sewing machine from Hansons a couple of years ago and the lady in the sewing machine department was so helpful, showing me the different functions of the machines and really tailoring her suggestions to what she felt my need and experience was. I have since returned on a couple of occasions for fabric and sundries and I'm sure if it was closer to where I live, I'd be there all the time! My only criticism, which isn't even that really, is that they pack so much in there that one often has to tuck in for passing customers as the walkways are very narrow, often shoving rolls of fabric back in whilst they pass!

Who-ever designs the displays obviously thinks the best way to attract potential customers is with eye-catching outfits. The problem is, the ensembles they put on the models always look like they were made for blind goths, disco bunnies and transsexuals. We're talking the most trashy, mis-matching, ill fitting, unisex, halloween outfits I've seen in years. If you can get past the window, Fabric Land has everything you need to make your own more tasteful clothes. Spread over two floors, they have rolls and rolls of cotton, satin, chiffon, calico, denim, cord, velvet, velour, felt, gingham, hessian, lace, leather, patchwork, suede and towelling. Fabric Land is for people who actually want to buy fabric. Fabric land has exceptionally good pricing, a massive range of fabrics, and helpful and fast, qualified staff. Go there first then, if you can't find what your are looking for, go to the others. But ALWAYS go there first. You'll find that the prices are very competitive and, particularly if you are making things to sell, this can drastically affect your margins. The only thing it could do with is a better website, as it's definitely a bit 1998!
