Complex may be a great location for engineering student but rent is expensive and office staff doesn't return phone calls and email.

I am helping my daughter move her daughter into this apartment complex. The location is perfect for granddaughter's classes. The rooms are very pleasant, bright and clean. For this post though, I want to highlight the maintenance supervisor, Rudy (8/17/2023). His response was prompt with a prompt resolve. He was courteous and informative; So refreshing and comforting. There are lots of things I loved about living here, but a few crucial things that should be improved. I have never had any serious issues with my unit, it was clean, in good shape, and they met all my location requests when I first moved in. I love the maintainence team and front desk people, all super sweet, quick to help and friendly. The rooms/apartments are small and overpriced but that's expected with the proximity to campus. BUT the management team OMG, the most unprofessional and inefficient people i have ever encountered and they aren't even nice about it. If you have problem that needs to be addressed by the management you better count your losses because slim chance they will actually take care of it for you or even respond to your emails or calls. This is annoying because this should be the most helpful and put together part of the staff, but it is far from. They are terrible about communicating and getting back with you, they do not answer questions clearly, and they try to make everything your problem. Jackie was okay and at least has a good temperament but ever interaction I had with Leslie was bad, she is rude, demeaning, and always left me feeling unheard and blamed. I almost went to the corporate office with my issues because I felt that would have been more efficient and worth my time, even though all the issues I ever had were internal mistakes and they were never worked out for me in a timely manner. It is a shame the management is run this way because or else they would have an outstanding team of people and a smoothly ran facility. read more

Rent is pretty high unless you sign when there are good deals going on. Definitely not worth the price when you can go down the road and get a larger space for cheaper. Will definitely not be signing here again. I can hear my neighbors having sex through my walls everyday which makes me feel like I live in a motel 6 and it's super awkward. Also, the WiFi almost always never works this year. This is my second year living here and whatever WiFi provider they switched to is terrible. This places feels like a dorm, but with a kitchen and it's definitely not a place that I've enjoyed. Also, my room has smelled like mold since I've moved in and the toilets/faucet develop mold super easy so I'm always spraying bleach. read more

I have recently moved out of The Stack, and I can genuinely say that I am glad to be moved out. To start off, rent was a bit on the high side, especially considering the constant issues with Wifi and the incredibly thin walls. The elevators are incredibly slow - I lived on the 4th floor and ended up just walking up and down the stairs every time because I did not want to have to wait five minutes on an elevator (the main elevator took the longest.) Furthermore, when I had moved in, it was clear that my room was not cleaned by the previous occupant. Trash was still on the floor throughout my room, underneath the bed, and even in the shower. There was already mold in my toilet when I had moved in (I took pictures that are dated), my sink was still clogged, and it was not the best situation. I will say that the proximity to campus was the best part about the Stack, as well as their parking lot. Work orders were also done quickly. read more

The Stack is a great place to live if only for the convienience of its proximity to campus. Would recommend for any incoming freshman who aren't living in a dorm. Issues:Cost, The hallways are kinda scary, you constantly hear assholes at Harry's revving their engines read more

My roommates and I wanted to pop in the hot tub after the game the other day, to our dismay, the hot tub was out of order...again. Nuther thing I've noticed is the lack of community at the stack. Good space, it does come furnished and looks very nice. Everything on the 2nd floor was regularly used by my group of friends. The pool and hot tub should really be regularly cleaned out. Elevators were slow but if you get lucky and live on the 2nd floor you'll be fine. read more

Absolutely awful place. There are a few staff that are really nice but not the management. The community that lives here are made up of ethnic greeks (that leave the pool really bad and make the hallways noisy and smell like illegal substances...), awkward engineers who always stay in their rooms, old people, and international students. There is not any appealing community life here at all. My room is always terribly small. My bed takes up around half of my room. Considering how much this place is worth and how many better options there are for hundreds of dollars cheaper, this place is way overpriced. Also, paper thin walls and cheap construction of everything. I don't have enough room to hang up my clothes. My bathroom door won't close. Very intrusive maintenance. Also, I've seen the staff here provide to underaged. It's also really awkward seeing working people providing for some of the freshman girls that live here. The whole aesthetics with the modern age decorations makes this place feel like a hospital/asylum. The TV's here have horrible quality. The awkward dust that keeps accumulating in the bathrooms is really sketchy. The furniture is uncomfortable except for the beds. The hot tub is always nasty sea green. This place is just not appealing to hang out with your friends. We've had the entire second floor flooded. So many problems with blackouts. The gym is also worthless unless you are a middle-schooler or a middle-aged woman. It is never worth it to deal with all of these problems and the amount of money you are paying here just so you can walk to class. Also, the general reputation of The Stack among is so poor that I usually avoid telling people that I live there. I have never rated anything on Yelp but I have just regretted living here so much that I specifically made an account to warn others of this place. read more

I'm about to start living here in the fall, and when I visited the elevators were pretty fast, so I'm not sure what the last review was about. The people working there are very friendly and always respond quickly (like whithin 20 minuites) I can't wait! read more

So I've been living at the Stack the past few months now, and by all means, it's not a terrible place to be living at, I mean it could be worse, but it's far from great. The Cons: Let's start with everyone's favorite complaint: The elevators. This place only has two elevators situated at very inconvenient locations, causing trips to the grocery store to be a huge hassle, and don't even get me started on moving in. They also take a really long time, I literally have time to go to my mailbox, check and see if I have anything, walk back, and the elevator still won't be back. The walls: They are extremely thin. I have to listen to my TV at a barely audible volume because my roommates complain about the noise. I've tried studying in their "study rooms", but I can hear people watching TV and yelling in the rooms by it, it's ridiculous how thin these walls are. The cable and WiFi: The cable here sucks. They don't get Nickelodeon, AMC, FX, and a bunch of other channels. I had to walk every Sunday to my friend's dorm to watch Breaking Bad, and now I have to do it again for the Walking Dead. The WiFi is pretty bad too. I mean once you're connected it's pretty fast, but it takes so long to connect and a lot of times it kicks you off it. I'll be kicking butt in Call of Duty, and next thing I know, it'll kick me from the game because I lost WiFi, it's devestating. The Gym: Small and useless The place has a tendency to flood The Pros: Aesthetically this place is pretty nice. The staff: They are really nice and always willing to help. Whitley helped my family and I so much during the whole moving-in process. They always prepare food during the football games in the lounge and host events and are normally pretty on top of things that need to be fixed. The Pool and Lounge: The areas are pretty nice. The lounge has a pool table and Foosball. The pool area, albeit kind of small and poorly lit, is pretty nice They provide a pretty big TV if you live in a 4x4 It's in walking distance from the University, which is a huge plus for me. I only have to use my car when I have to go to the Allen Building or the Rec, so it's saved me a ton of gas. The Stack isn't great, but it's not terrible either, it's just O.K. read more

When I moved into The Stack, my kitchen was dirty, the bathroom was covered in hair, and my bedroom was missing furniture. I had to clean all of this myself. Later, I was promised a gift card for a referral. I never received this gift card. I let this slide. The wifi rarely ran properly. The elevator is the slowest I've ever been on. Everything molds super fast. Lastly, and most importantly, the lease I had signed for the following year was cancelled and I was never notified. I was ready to move back into the stack in the fall, but I found myself with nowhere to live. Not only this, but late fees IN ADDITION to a cancellation fee had accumulated to a ridiculous amount of money. I tried to work something out with management about this for months, but the manager just kept saying the same things. Later, I was told the late fees would be dropped, and I only had to pay the cancellation fee. I called to pay the cancellation fee, and suddenly it was "we never made that agreement." They threatened to send the total charge to collections if I did not pay it within a week. I went in to pay the full amount and tried talking one last time, and the staff laughed in my face. In summary, because of The Stack, I am broke and living with my boyfriend. Management are uncoordinated crooks that don't keep their word. This place is unreasonable and the most irresponsible business I have ever had to work with. STAY AWAY. read more

Rooms are nice. The fan in the bathroom is constantly on when the bathroom light is turned on which gets really annoying. The Maintenance Crew has not responded to most of my requests during the 48 hour period and I have ended up having to track them down myself and many of my problems still haven't been fixed. read more

Overall a good place to live. We were there 2 years with very little problems or issues. Compared to other newer units, I believe this building will be better off than some of the other newer ones that look old and worn after 1 year in the interior of the apartments. The Stack did a good job on providing finishes that will last and hold up over time. Was miffed they would not extend lease for an additional 6 months to finish degree since we were first in residents and that was the reason for not giving 5 stars because it was inconvenient to move for just 5 months. I'm being generous by giving this place 2 stars. I highly recommend NOT living here. Nothing against the staff - they have never really given me any problems themselves during my time here. Yes, it is convenient being able to walk to and from your classes but that is just about the only thing that has not bothered me while I've lived here. First off, the rent is way overpriced. The furniture is not comfortable, the water pressure in the showers is low, the rooms are tiny with minimal closet space (even if you don't have a lot of clothes), the gym is tiny & barely has any equipment, and the list goes on. Not to mention there are always bums hanging around outside this area (mainly around McDonald's and Taco Bell), including one that somehow got into our gym area and was apparently just hanging out in there until somebody found him. The constant construction going on around this area is also extremely annoying so you can never really have any peace & quiet. The power here will randomly shut off and on for short periods of time, or sometimes shut off completely for much longer than just a few minutes (last night it shut off for over an hour). The TV channels here are also terrible and sometimes there's two of the same channel instead of just one. On top of that, the wifi is EXTREMELY SLOW and barely loads anything on my phone, Apple TV (which I use because the channels here are not great), and sometimes on my laptop when I'm trying to do homework which is a big problem when I'm trying to get things done. The walls are also extremely thin and I can hear a lot from my neighbors as well as people/things outside. Also, it may be nice being able to walk to Harry's or Northgate or wherever you may want to go around here, but at night on the weekends the parking lot is packed (unless you actually pay that much more money to park in the garage) which is very frustrating when you have to park super far away from the building when half of the people parked in the parking lot don't even live there. There are probably a few other things I've had problems with that I'm forgetting as I type this review but all in all you get the point - you are definitely not getting what you pay for every month to live here. read more

The Stack is an absolute terrible place to stay. The sofas and the beds in the apartments are uncomfortable. The cable never works. The wifi is terribly slow. And its very loud. I haven't even been staying there for 2 months and they are already pressuring me to renew my lease. The stress from school is already unbearable but adding their non sense is ridiculous. They have repeatedly threatened to give away my apartment if i don't renew my lease in the next 2 weeks. The management is completely rude. Avoid staying here at all cost. Plus this place provides nothing special but is still super expensive. read more
