I visited Zagames about 15 times over a two month span. Here is my final review for this place,…read moresince I will never be returning to this country, let alone this business. Staff are hit or miss at Zagames. Some polite, most unbelievably rude. Not a great experience, I didn't go to a casino to gamble on whether or not the staff would be hospitable. I found Red Lion to have better staff. Some staff at Red Lion were partying on my previous visit with the customers, which was unprofessional, but at least they were courteous when I ordered a drink. I gave the food at Zagames several tries over a two month span and it was always awful. The only edible food I found were the fries. I do like that they gave out free samosas one time, but they were the most flavorless samosas I've ever had. Moreover, I was told the management do not allow tips, so even the very few times a staff member was courteous, I was unable to tip, the staff refused. I do believe that good service should be rewarded, even if at this casino/restaurant it is a rare occurrence.

We were recommended Zagame's as a family restaurant and we were not disappointed. The combination…read moreof a gambling venue and family restaurant is odd; however it works very well and the Kids Wonderland is the best kids play area we have ever seen in a restaurant (and we have visited a few!) It was a busy Saturday night and the staff were very accommodating to fit us in without a reservation. We have numerous allergies in the family and they were meticulous to ensure they got our meals right, the chef even came out to check everything was spot on! There were plenty of a Gluten Free and Vegetarian options on the menu, and the Asian Pork Belly and Chicken Ballotine that we had were very delicious (not to mention the deserts). There was even healthy grilled / salad options on the kids menu. I would class it as quality pub food, just what we wanted when travelling with a family. The service was excellent from the Maitre'd right through to the trainee!

After what felt like ages, bc it had been 45 minutes, our Roast Lamb meals arrived. They had been heated up in the microwave! Not just the meat, but also vegetables. It wasn't even a busy night!! We ended up leaving 90% of our meal, and went home to have vegemite on toast. When asked by staff how our meal was, we told them the truth - that to wait for such a long time we expected more than a reheated meal. What was worse was the attitude gotten from front-of-house staff. When management were spoken to, they were just as rude. If possible, when giving them a review, if a zero out of 5 star rating was possibly, then that is what they would receive as that is all they are worth - and honestly, that would be generous. I, as the Board of Ballarat North Sports Club, would seriously reconsider the employment of 2 persons of Management - Michael Lucas and Patrick Thornton. I am not one to usually complain without trying to go through the right channels first. I spent just over 2 months trying to do as such with Michael and Patrick, before posting this negative review. I got no where with these 2 employees!!

I ordered the Carvery, while hubby had a-la-carte. The meal was nice enough but when I went up to order my desert I was astounded at how rude the waitress was. Apparently with the carvery meal, the only deserts that you can order are from the cake fridge. We were not told this, and even though the waitress admitted that she forgot to tell us this, there was no apology. I went to ask a question (can I just pay extra and have a desert from the a-la-carte menu) and all I got out was "Can I" when she jumped down my throat stating that she should have told us, but she didn't. No apology, just I didn't do it. She was so rude that we just had what we were allowed and left. We will never go back there again, because the whole time, no one even bothered to explain how the club worked and just presumed that we had been there before. Disgusting and rude.

Well, it would be unfair to call this a pokies pub, particularly since they also happen to have a…read morerestaurant, but honestly, I really don't like the place. I guess, when compared to all the other places along Brunswick street, this place simply doesn't compare one bit. In a way, it feels as if it really would be more suited to being in the outer suburbs as opposed to being here on Sydney Road, but then again I guess that the people that would frequent a place like this would need a place that aren't swarmed with the young and the hip, and blasting out live music. Oh, and don't expect a decent selection of tap beers either, there aren't any.

Great atmosphere and welcoming friendly staff... Typically I decided to have the Classic Chicken Parmigiana, highly recommend, and my friend had the Mexican Parmigiana, has jalapenos, also highly recommend. Reasonably priced, and I would recommend asking about accommodating children. If you knew me, I've had parmigiana at more than a few venues in Melbourne, Australia, the Classic Chicken Parmigiana lived up to the others I've had, the chicken was perfectly cooked. The venue I recommend to locals and tourists alike - FIVE STARS

I have to admit that I am somewhat impressed with their evolution over time, namely in regards to the beers that are available, and the fact that they have raised the concept of a sports bar to a new level, namely that they feel much better to sit down with a drink, and a lot less sleazy, that others. Of course, one of the main things that sets them apart is the fact that they pretty much has no pokies.

The fitout of this sports bar didn't do a lot for me. A bit grey and dull, I reckon. The scotches on offer were a bit pedestrian. I chose a Glenfiddich which was ok but as always no standout performer. Service was just ok here without any real warmth or human interest. I actually prefer the pokies pub up the road - and I momentarily forget its name - despite the fact that I detest pokies. The atmosphere is better there. The staff have been lovely there when I've visited. Tim E's review encourages me to discount thoughts of ever eating at the Sporting Club. In the end the only thing I really liked was the name of the place although a person I trust likes this place. Such is life. PS - I later remembered the name of the pub up the road. It's called The Vine. The front bar is called The Vineyard. In all of Melbourne there's not a place that looks less like a vineyard.
