Enjoyed a Sunset Walking Food Tour in Old San Juan Puerto Rico! Elliot was a great guide and shared a wealth of knowledge about the city, Puerto Rico as a country, as well as the foods that were served and details on the restaurants' histories. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area!

While visiting San Juan in February 2020, I decided to surprise my boyfriend with a fun date night. He has a passion for history, and I love food so when I discovered that The Spoon Experience existed, I knew that's what we had to do. We did a Sunset Walk & Taste tour of Old San Juan, and it was led by an incredible guide (who's name I have now forgotten) but he was so well versed in the local history. We met our group in Plaza de Armas, and found our guide with a bright colored umbrella so we knew we were in the right place. I think we made stops at four different restaurants and had delicious food and drinks at each stop. While I can't remember the names of each place, a few highlights included the mofongo we tried at our first stop and the cubano at Taberna Lupulo. We returned to many of these businesses after the tour. I found the pace of the tour to be perfect, and we learned so much! When I am back in the San Juan area again, I will definitely book another Spoon Tour.

We did this tour with Lorna as our tour guide. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and informative. We spent about 3.5 hours with her and enjoyed every minute of it. Be prepared to be very full when you're done with the tour. I personally could not touch the food we got at our last stop. Totally recommend.

Lorna, our tour guide on February 23rd, was absolutely outstanding. Lorna provided excellent historical information about the cultural sites that we visited in Old San Juan. I was impressed with her energy and her ability to weave in the historical facts in an engaging manner with our tour group. All of the food and the drink that we consumed on our Old San Juan Walk and Taste Tour was excellent quality. We had a group of ten people and it was a very manageable and enjoyable experience. The three hour tour goes very quickly! I recommend the Spoon Experience and most especially our tour guide - Lorna.

As someone who loves food and loves experiencing different cultures through their food the Spoon Experience in San Juan Puerto was the best tour! Our tour guide, Lorna, was so nice and very knowledgeable of Puerto Rico's history, foods on the island and culture! She really thought me a lot about the country and how important food is to their culture. I love the authentic foods of the island! We had four stops on our tour with different local food and Lorna was able to tell us about those different foods and the history of them! I learned so much on this tour and I ate so much too! It is a perfect tour for anyone who loves eat and drink while learning history!

You know it is great when the locals are queued and you get to walk right in and eat some truly authentic Puerto Rican food and skip the line! We set up a private, corporate event for 30ish and Kiana was so amazing to work with. We ended with 3 different tour guides and we did not go to all of the same restaurants! Our guides were all exceptional - each group thought theirs was better. The tour was more than the 3 hours which was fine for most, some felt it should have ended earlier. Do not eat before you go on this tour, plenty of yummy food and great history!

I've done amazing walking tours all over the world and what makes a good tour really great is the passion of the tour guide. During our recent Sunset Walk & Taste Tour, Nico not only shared an extensive knowledge and understanding of the rich heritage and history of the island, she shared her energy and passion in a way that helped us truly feel her love and appreciation for the people and culture of Puerto Rico. And, the delicious food and drinks we had along the way helped us to connect with the community and each other, making this a complete, fulfilling experience. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Lorna was our tour guide and it was evident that she is passionate about Puerto Rican food and culture. We left the tour understanding so much about the food, people and island. Every stop and dish was excellent and the cocktails were refreshing. I was worried I would be hungry after the tour...but I was so full! Well worth every penny. Thank you Lorna for an amazing experience.

Scheduling with Louie was a little annoying, taking a few back and forth calls, but ultimately we were able to schedule the hike to the falls in El Yunque. On the drive out there, Rupert told us about a bunch of movies that had been filmed in PR along with a few facts about the island. This was enjoyable, although not quite what I'm interested in, it helped pass the time on the trip out there. However, once we got to the forrest, that's the end of the "tour", from there it's really just transportation. We stopped by a waterfall along the road, then went over to the path to the more secluded waterfall. Rupert didn't come on the hike with us and told a few women in our party that they would be comfortable barefoot. Their complaints along the way and slow progress made it clear that the shoes I was wearing were practically necessary. Hiking through El Yunque was beautiful but it rains hard in the rain forrest, something I should have guessed, but a heads up to dress warm and bring a raincoat would have been nice. We even asked what to bring and were told we didn't need anything. The authentic Puerto Rican meal at the end was a nice touch, but I was here for the hike.

You'd get a text message reminder a day before the tour and they would ask if you have food restrictions or allergies. You'd also get a reminder where the meeting spot is. We met at Banco Popular, introduced ourselves and went our merry way to the 5 different food spots. Pablo ordered the food before hand so that when the group arrived at the different restaurants/places, the food was ready and we did not have to wait that long. Our first stop was Cafe Cuatro Sombras where we had coffee and croissant ham/provolone cheese/guava butter. I liked this croissant with a hint of tanginess/sweetness from the guava. Noncoffee drinkers had options of lemonade and tea. Second stop was Señor Paleta. There's no indoor seating here so we had the delicious parcha (passion fruit) popsicle. Yum! Very refreshing, great for this warm weather! Third stop was Cafe El Punto. This place has a lot of artwork by local artists. We had ceviche de pescado and alcapurrias de la casa which were nice. Fourth stop was El Patio de Sam where we "made" our own mofongo. We had fried plantains and garlic butter, mashed them in a mortar and pestle, and added the chicken before turning the mortar upside down to get the mofongo. This was flavorful and had more moisture compared to another mofongo we had. Last stop for dessert was Vaca Brava. We had flan which was nice. We enjoyed the food, the tour, and the conversations. Great experience here.

From there, we spent the next hour and a half perusing the streets of Old San Juan in a stylish sidecar! (So much better than sitting in a cramped, sweaty van with 15/20+ others!‍) You get to cruise the cobblestone streets with the open air/breeze in your face feeling, as well as getting unobstructed, 360 degree views- it is AMAZING! There were many historic sights to see, along the way. Tom was very knowledgeable about the history and culture of Puerto Rico- I learned quite a bit in just an hour and a half!
