I really like the British Legion in Inverness. My mother is a member so I have been there on many…read moreoccasions. The Inverness venue has a downstairs bar and what could be called a function room with a dancefloor and much more seating than the bar. There is also a restaurant upstairs where they serve lunch and dinner during the week at very reasonable prices. I've eaten there several times and my favourite is the battered mushrooms with garlic dip. They serve a range of main meals like fish and chips to baguettes or sandwiches. There is also an upstairs bar but not in the restaurant. Drinks prices are excellent in my opinion and can be as little as 90p for a can of coca-cola to £2.50ish for an alcoholic drink and dash. The bars are very nice places but I do believe you have to be a member to go and drink there but I may be wrong.

I spent a week in Inverness in May on a family break. I did…read morefrequent the Royal British Legion on a few occasions on an evening for one or two drinks. The atmosphere was nice, and people were friendly, and drinks reasonably priced. However I did find that the heating was on too high and the bar became uncomfortably hot, to the point where I could feel my face burning, this was echoed by a friend who was with me also, so in the end we preferred not to go back. Having a very hot and stuffy room may suit some individuals, but not for us. There was no entertainment on during my visit, although I could see something coming up on their entertainment board. I have only given a rating of 3 for the Legion, had the heating been set at a more comfortable level, then I would have stayed there longer and have given a much higher score. Never- the- less a nice place to go if you are staying nearby.

Visited the shop today and while browsing the shelf near the sales desk listened to a young man…read morechatting to the assistant. This young man appeared to have some special difficulties, perhaps socially awkward also? He engaged with the assistant for a while and was very polite, complimenting the shop and asking questions. The young man wished the assistant a Merry Christmas and thanked her for her help when leaving. The minute he left the shop the assistant in a loud voice put her head in her hands and laughing loudly repeatedly said 'they are all mad' 'oh dear they are all mad' to another lady who I believe is the manager. I was shocked to witness such a total lack of respect and understanding for this young man, what is the point of working in a charity shop if you can't be charitable to a customer who may be quite vulnerable? Not a good advert for any shop and perhaps better vetting of the workforce along with training regarding discrimination and respect for others.

This has to be one of my favourite charity shops in Inverness. This is mainly for their selection…read morein books. I love spending an afternoon wandering around the charity shops looking for second hand books or other nice bits and pieces. The British Heart Foundation also has a range of goods that are not second hand as I have seen what look like new gift sets of scarves, hair clips, ornaments etc. Hard to review other areas of the shop as their stock is based on generous donations from the public but they seem well-stocked.
