I am from California and All of my female friends gave birth at hospitals. My sister gave birth to a boy here and has been going there for check ups now. EVERYONE working here has been helpful before the birth; answer all my and my sisters question about baby, labor, preparation to welcome baby, etc During the labor; we got there around midnight. We called them and they were there ready. Professional nurse? With a lot of experience watch and log everything during the labor and the other one helped my sister gave a birth more easily ( constantly rubbing .. Checking.. Encouraging my sister) and after the birth of my nephew( answer all stupid questions(^^) we asked and give personal attention to the mommy and the baby. Absolutely recommend this place and I will definitely give birth to my baby if I live in seattle.( or look for midwives in California if there is any) What I realized from the whole experience of coming here and watching my sister give birth is that I don't need to go to a hospital to give birth. Trying to get the baby out naturally and getting healed( my sister) naturally are totally Possible!! Prices are reasonable and feeling of being cared and informed....We've got what we need:)highly highly recommend!!

Thank you so much to them.

Through every step, I felt like I was respected, listened to, in control, and completely cared for. They are reassuring and kind, and never made me feel like I was overreacting when I was freaking out (which, by the way, I totally was, ha). They also treated my partner like he was important and listened to his questions/concerns as well, instead of just directing to me all the time, which I know meant a lot to him. My birth was an absolutely amazing experience, and so much of that is because I had midwives who were 100% on board with my birth plan, and who let me birth without dictating every detail of how it would go. They made sure baby and I were safe and gave suggestions and encouragement when they needed to. I was able to choose what positions to labor/push in which was so great. They were such a calming presence and we felt so reassured by their warmth and competence. Pregnancy, birth and postpartum is a wild journey. These are the midwives you want by your side for one of the most raw, life-changing, vulnerable, amazing experiences of your life. They have all the compassion in the world, and are also generally phenomenal and badass humans. I LOVE Y'ALL AND I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR YOU. Love, Alexis, Steven and Baby Anna

The inner workings of this company are not nearly as "pretty" as the external packaging would lead you to believe! The reality is that Special Delivery is a revolving door of overworked midwives in a facility that is more Instagram-worthy than functional and we did not get the support we deserved during our birth at their center as a result. The midwives are stretched too thin and the owner tends to push her own agendas, as others have pointed out. During the birth, we were left in a room that was poorly set up for a safe birthing process (slippery floors, no handles in the sharp-edged tub, no birthing chair to sit on, etc) and we didn't get checked on for a majority of the 24 hours we ended up being there. The only midwife on the premises spent all of her time elsewhere, leaving critical decisions to a student midwife who didn't know enough to manage a full birth, yet they required us to pay an extra $500 to the company in cash to have her attend as a condition of giving birth there! The result was that my wife wasn't checked or measured when she should have been and a bad call resulted in my wife pushing when she shouldn't have. This complicated the process and ultimately prolonged the birth. It also led to greater tearing, our baby being stuck in the birth canal for an extended period, and my wife being far more exhausted and uncomfortable during the actual birth than she should have been. The bedside demeanor of the midwives wasn't great as they were tired and exhausted themselves. Sadly, our experience prior to the birth wasn't much better. Staff was always pleasant, but we rarely got to see the same midwife more than once or twice as the staff turnover here is nothing short of concerning. As soon as we connected with someone and hoped they could attend the birth, they'd quit and we'd have to try to get to know and connect with another person. This happened multiple times over the course of just a few months and I recently discovered that none of the midwives or assistants employed there at the time of our birth work there any longer. That's not a good sign! Ultimately, Special Delivery is in it for the money and image more than the experience and care of their patients. They present a pretty package that makes you want to sign up, but still treat you like a number when it matters most and their facilities are not as birth-friendly as they would have you believe. I wouldn't recommend anyone birth here if they can avoid it. Even a home birth at the hand of one of the MANY former midwives that have passed through their doors is likely to a better and safer experience overall!

Instead of providing a prescription covered by my insurance, I was only given a list of medications to buy. Because I was very sick, I had to go to Walgreens and spend over $100 on medications that I could have received for free with a prescription. Later, I tested positive for COVID-19 and informed your team. The only response I received was "I'm sorry you have COVID, stay in quarantine for 5 days." At no point was I informed that COVID could lead to early labor. The day before delivery, when I entered active labor, I called again. My information was sent to Providence Everett, but I received no encouragement or support from any of the midwives. Ultimately, I had to undergo an emergency C-section because my baby's heart rate was unstable, and my newborn was transferred to Seattle Children's Hospital due to meconium aspiration. I did not hear from Sprouts until four days after my baby's birth, and the call was simply to say, "I'm sorry you went through that, let us know when you want to schedule your postpartum appointment." When I scheduled and came to my appointment, I felt dismissed and disrespected. At the front desk, I was asked "where's the baby" in an ironic tone, followed by "oh, I forgot, she's at the NICU." In my visit with Deborah, my concerns about missed communication and risks associated with my prolonged pregnancy were rejected instead of acknowledged with empathy. Despite my disappointment, I continued with follow-up appointments for postpartum care and birth control because I had no other provider at that time. However, I have consistently felt unsupported. Most recently, when I asked for an all-purpose nipple ointment (as recommended by the lactation team and nurses at Seattle Children's Hospital), I received a dismissive and questioning response instead of the prescription I needed. At this point, I believe the care I received from Sprouts Birth Center has fallen short of the support, compassion, and professionalism that should have been provided. For these reasons, I respectfully do not recommend this birth center at all.

I will always recommend out of hospital/midwife care, especially Sprout Birthing Center. Prenatal care: On point all around. All the traditional tests were offered to me to ensure there weren't any apparent complications that would make my pregnancy or birth high-risk. Birth: At the center. Arrived a little after 9pm to help move the pregnancy along (11 days overdue!). After hours birth meant my immediate family was able roam the center without interfering with day-to-day operations. My son was born at 11:01pm. Mayya and Brittni didn't rush me and didn't argue me when I said it was time to push. They let me control the birth. Their roles were simply to make sure we were healthy. After having a hospital birth with my second son, I can't rave enough about how much its truly means to drive your own birth. I was free to leave around 2 or 2:30am. 5 hours at the center and in home in bed to rest and heal! Can't complain about that! Postpartum Care: Thorough. Never once did I feel I wasn't being listened to. Billing: No issues as of yet ‍. I'll update if needed.

In my post op visit, the surgeon said I was fine even though I had a large bulge on my left side. I finally asked (10 months post op) to be referred to UW after Dr Sokolova ordered an ultrasound of my bulge and then emailed me with results stating "ITS EITHER A LIPOMA OR A HERNIA, BUT CALL US IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS". Dr Sokolova's office never sent the referral and I ended up referring myself! So I'm one year post op and now having to have incisional hernia surgery because my interior incision broke open due to that dr's negligence! Also, they tried giving me two other people's placentas before I left the hospital at my birth! Will probably be pursuing legal action because I have to now have another surgery, another year or healing, take time off from my schooling, and won't be able to care for my children. Their package is outstanding compared to others. Milla was with us for delivery and she was such a calming, supportive presence. She reminded me of my birth plan when I needed it, worked beautifully with the hospital staff, held me through contractions, cheered me on when I felt like giving up, and set boundaries with family when I asked. She just knew what I needed and I felt safe with her. Melinda was equally fantastic. I felt deeply seen by her. She helped me with my anxiety before labor and in postpartum, gave me practical tools (the ice exercise was a game changer), and walked through our house helping us set up baby stations + shared so many helpful tips. Some additional highlights: - Their website has the best list of questions to ask when interviewing doulas. - The prep class with Milla was both super helpful and honestly fun. I truly believe the exercises she taught me made a huge difference in my labor. - Melinda dropping everything to come help us on day 3 postpartum when we texted her in frenzy. Hiring them was hands-down the best decision we made. I'm so happy with how my labor went, and I honestly credit that to this amazing doula team. Overall, the biggest impact they made on me was that they believed in me, and that gave me so much strength. For a first-time mom with higher levels of anxiety, that kind of support was priceless. I honestly wish they could be my team of support forever in motherhood--that's how much I loved them and how much I trust them. And even now, I still bug them from time to time and they always quickly help me out with resources. I am so fortunate to have found them. I am sure you will feel the same way if they become your choice of doulas.

So the second time, I wanted to have the same support and was so glad to have her with us even though we'd been through this before once. And although I had expected the third time to be even easier, some complications came up and it was so helpful to be able to consult with Melinda and work through some difficult decisions. She also helped me with processing and accepting the surgical delivery that I had really hoped to avoid.
