I had an amazing experience at The Something Blue Shoppe! My stylist, Emily, was incredibly sweet to me and helped me find the perfect dress. As someone who had never tried on a wedding dress, having Emily assist me was extremely helpful. She waited outside the changing room to help zip up or clip together all the dresses, which I really appreciated. At some other salons, I was left to fend for myself and half the time couldn't get the dresses completely zipped up. I actually ended up going with a dress Emily picked out, which I think is a testament to her expertise on what a bride is specifically looking for. A few weeks later, I got a lovely card in the mail from Emily congratulating me on saying yes to the dress. I can't wait to wear my dress for my wedding in March! read more

He has a snobbish attitude - after showing me three special occasion dresses, he flatly refused to let me look at anything else on the racks. Prior to my appointment, Paige, the stylist, reached out to me and requested I send her some information about me, sizes, wedding info, and pictures of what I liked. I explained my difficult situation (death in the family, lack of time, budget, etc) and when we got there, she had already been pulling dresses that were completely within my aesthetic even though I barely knew what that was. I even explained to her I didn't know much about wedding dresses and she took my personality and ran with it. If she pulled one I wasn't keen on, nothing like that was ever pulled out again and she was fantastic with guiding me. I found a dress the same day, but needed some help with what to put in my hair and she got very creative and found a scarf that could be made into a bow that was exactly what I was looking for, but would make for beautiful photos (as the owner, TJ, had come out to give his very helpful and kind opinion). Neither were pushy or made me feel like I had to buy something before I left. They gave very good comments on my two favorite dresses of the pros and cons of both and then allowed me to choose and even were good at keeping my mom and sister involved in the process as well as viewed the photos my fiancé had sent me for an idea of what he thought looked like us. It was a day I was dreading due to loss of family that should be at my wedding and Paige and TJ made it so much smoother than I could have imagined and I am very grateful to both of them. read more

I joined my best friend wedding dress shopping and out of the several places she went, The Something Blue Shoppe was by far the best. Blake and TJ were both outstanding to work with. They were patient, kind, and had a great eye in narrowing down the selection for what she was looking for. Everyone was extremely friendly that worked there, providing beverages as needed. The owner even stopped by to check on us and say hello. They have a live pianist playing music which adds a nice touch to the ambiance. The shoppe smells amazing as they have their own signature scent in which they also sell candles of. Even on a scorching summer day, the Shoppe temperature was very cool. All around this place is very professional and from our visits there I would highly recommend them. read more

Paige helped me through every aspect of my appointment, even reaching out before to get to know me and get an idea of what I wanted. During the appointment Paige was SO helpful. I was so nervous, but she was calming and accommodating throughout the whole visit. I ended up getting the most gorgeous dress! Paige was wonderful, but everyone at the shop was so sweet. When you delete bad reviews on your Facebook page, you're not being honest with your customers and as a business, you should realize that word of mouth is everything. If you make a mistake and then rectify it, that speaks volumes to the integrity of your company and customer service. Mistakes are made. It's how you deal with them afterwards that show customers what kind of business they're dealing with. Hopefully you will use this constructively and change some of your practices. Ignoring a customer after a mistake is made on your part and deleting the bad review from your fb is all I need to know to go somewhere else in the future. I had a fantastic experience at The Something Blue Shoppe! My consultant Blake took the time to make the experience so special for me and my family. He made me feel seen/heard and helped me find the PERFECT wedding dress. After the dress was ordered, Blake made sure to update me on the status of my dress. This store is on a cute Main Street but also in the middle of nowhere! They had a pretty good selection of dresses (but not great) and the staff was friendly enough. However, they do not let you take pictures of anything until you buy a dress. As someone who is thoughtful-- especially when spending a thousand dollars on an outfit--this is frustrating. Overall I was frustrated by not being allowed to take pictures and felt awkward because I was shopping alone. read more

I would never recommend this shop to anyone. We had a good experience on the day that my daughter chose her gown. We paid for the gown in full that same day. When the dress arrived it was too small. The assistanct tried to brush it off as, " Oh, well, the fabric will give some as you wear it." - but my daughter could not even pull the sleeve up her arms. The manager attempted to say, "well, you signed a contract." They initially told my daughter they could "fix" the dress for a 50 dollar fee but that quickly turned into $225 dollars. I am so disappointed. It is the most we have ever paid for any kind of a dress and to be made to pay an additional $225 to add fabric just makes me sick to my stomach. My daughter is a size 4. She has not gained any weight. The store is a money pit and it is so very disappointing.......... read more

I bought both my dress and veil here for my August 2008 wedding. I was impressed by their selection of low to mid/high priced dresses and the variety of styles they offered. My sales assistant (I believe her name was Amber) was very helpful in helping me try on dresses and finding styles similar to the ones I liked. They did not allow me to take photos of dresses before I made a purchase, though I have heard that others have been allowed to do this. I finally decided to purchase a gown and veil. The dress came in with no problems, but my veil was a custom veil with changes made to the floor sample. The veil came in incorrect in length and edging, also missing the blusher. They said they would reorder the veil, and it would come in 3-4 weeks later (from England). 3-4 weeks later I called to check on my veil, and the woman I spoke to said it was not in yet, and wasn't expected for another 3-4 weeks! I informed her that I was told it would be in 3-4 weeks, and she impatiently and rudely told me that because it was handmade in England, it simply could not come in that quickly. She said I would just have to wait and someone would call me back when it came in. I asked if they could rush the veil and she said no, that veil maker probably hadn't even started it yet (seriously, what saleswoman tells you that?) and she kept emphasizing that it was being made in England so it would just take longer. I found it incredibly ridiculous and rude that they simply didn't offer to pay for a rush order for it to arrive in the time they quoted me. In the end, the veil ended up arriving a few days later (still stumped because apparently the veil hadn't be started yet). I went to pick it up, and the staff were very cold and rude. Because of this, I decided not to do my alterations there. I have heard from others that they experienced the same kind of service for the staff at Something Blue. Once they have your money, they really don't care about you or what you have ordered. Please don't be jaded by their initial niceness and take your business elsewhere. read more

I went here with my daughter to pick out her wedding dress. TJ had opened the shop especially for us to accommodate our work schedule over the weekend. I must say TJ and Paige were the most wonderful hosts I have ever met. Our experience was so delightful and my daughter found the dress of her dreams. They were not pushy at all they actually asked my daughter to sleep on it overnight when she found her dress to make sure that was the one. The shop is wonderful the people are delightful and I cannot speak highly enough about our experience. So yes, I know you can see the price point and say "Woah​ that is wayyyyy too much" but you don't have to put on the "pricey" dresses. And, the Something Blue Shoppe isn't just any dress shop. It comes packed full of people who care about the community and care about you! I have had one semi-bad experience there, but it was years ago, and they were packed. The shop is a little small for the number of people they get flowing through the doors, but overall, it is a great place. There are two different shops, and they reign right beside each other on the beautiful downtown stretch of Hartselle Alabama. The prom dress story is the one that many Yelp users have added pictures of, but the original store is a bridal boutique. I have been to both. The bridal boutique is by far my favorite of the two because of the care and intentionality of the staff. I can't believe they have 3/5 stars on YELP. I couldn't say enough good things about Something Blue! Champagne when I walked in and was very nice to my entire party. Paige was my lady and she was amazing to say the least. I told her my budget which was under $1600 and she pulled tons of dresses within minutes. The entire place was very relaxing and had live piano playing which might just be a Saturday thing. I was told they only had expensive dresses but that's not true. They had a lot between $1000-$1500. We went to David's Bridal for bridesmaid dresses for a friends wedding and it was so hectic. We squeezed 4 girls in ones dressing room bc they were so busy and brides were everywhere trying on dresses. Something Blue made me feel special and helped me find my perfect dress. I am new to the area and a while back I had asked about tux rental locally because my two teenagers needed to rent tuxedos for prom. Several people mentioned The Something Blue Shoppe in Hartselle so we went by there on a Saturday. The place looked very nice and was busy so we were measured and ordered our tuxedos. Two weeks later they came in on Tuesday the week of prom (which was Friday). They went in the fitting room to try them on and one was son everything was a size too large. My other son couldn't even button the jacket or the pants and the vest wouldn't even wrap around him. It was SIZES too small. They apologized and said they would do the measurements again and have something sent Fed Ex and we would receive it on Thursday (the day before prom). The package didn't come until that evening so we tried them on and one was acceptable. Pants were still baggy but it was acceptable. The other son went from being sizes too small to being sizes too big. The pants looked like a weight loss commercial. This is a company that does this every day so how in the world did they get the measurements for both of my sons so wrong TWICE. This cost almost $400 and a ton of unnecessary stress. I went to their page the Monday after prom and there was another review that said the same thing but it was gone the next day. I did take screenshots of it to show my husband. Anyway the owner had replied to that person's review and basically said that the person had gained weight and nothing would fit them right. She was rude and didn't seem to care. I have tried to contact the owner about a refund and she won't get back in touch with me. Looks like they do better with wedding dresses but I would use extreme caution when renting a tux from them. Also understand that if something goes wrong they are very rude and are not going to refund you or discuss it with you. Let me add that the lady we worked with in the store - Maybe Susie - was very friendly. read more

4/11/2020. I splurged on my wedding dress bc I went with my future sister-in-law to This shop where you make an appt. I didn't know she signed us both up for appts. I knew I had to have the dress. Worked a second job on the weekends. My mom came with me months later and they were so busy. I put the down payment and a guy took my measurements. I'm a size 6-8 and am a 36B cup. He said there were two dresses left in my size so it was good I ordered. The size was 12. I asked if that was normal and he said it is with wedding dresses especially coming from a company in Australia.The dress came in last week and they told me I had to pay the remaining balance over the phone. This was sat and they said I had to pick it up Monday. I drained my account bc I was prepared to have to pick it up so early. My wedding is in October and they said I could get it around July to have enough time for alterations. I already knew I was going somewhere else for alterations. I reluctantly paid over the phone and again expressed my concern about the size. They said I could come to the door , show my ID through the window and the dress would be set out and I had to sign and keep the pin. I was so nervous on the way home knowing that they didn't get my size correct. Sure enough, it's huge. Of course it can be taken in around the waste, but the cups look ridiculous on me.From top to bottom it doesnt fit AT ALL. So, now it's July and I have no way to pay for major alterations. It's strapless, but the way they put it on me in the store and whatever size the cup was didn't show cleavage. The only thing I can do is get a huge push padded bra, but that's not an option and it looks stupid. I'm so upset and hope there is some way to cut the cups, but I have no idea how. Of course sales are final, but I should have been able to try it on the store and send it back for another size before signing and paying. Especially since I told them numerous times, even trough the window the day I picked it up. Anyways, long story short, I should have said either you let me try on the dress or I will not pay the money.My dream dress with no way to have it altered bc it you can't change a D cup with B sized boobs. I do not reccommend this place to anyone. I was told that with the measurements they took, I would need minor alterations. Fake people who lied to my face. Knew I wasnt a size 12, but wanted the money. Instead of telling me that there are similar styles that are my size and in stock. My mother, who helped me pay for the dress, has no idea. The WORST customer service ever. I went out with my maid of honor trying to find my perfect dress. I have heard good things about Something Blue so we decided to give it a shot. When we walked in there wasn't any customers there but there was around 5 or 6 employees piled in a room talking. One young woman with long blonde hair came out and greeted us, I asked if I need an appointment and she told me no and then asked what I was in for and I told her a wedding gown. She just gave me this funny look and said okay and then walked away. We looked around the shop about 10 minutes or so (while a middle aged woman gave us nasty looks the whole time ) and we finally picked out a dress that wasn't ugly or overpriced. We walk up to the woman and asked if I could try the gown on and she looked at me as if I smacked her or something. She told me that I couldn't try on the dress and that I needed an appointment. (Even though there was NOBODY in the store and all of the employees were doing nothing) She also told me that I needed to be more serious about my wedding and was talking down to me just because me and my fiancé haven't set a date? The people in this shop are so rude it's just crazy. I made an appointment but I just don't think I'm going back for the dress, I'll find it somewhere else. Something Blue was so incredibly helpful in the dress shopping process. They called me ahead of time to let me know of a sample sale so I would know the store would be crowded, and offered to reschedule if I considered it an inconvenience. I decided to keep my appointment time. We got there early and were allowed to peruse the dresses until my appointment time started. This allowed for really fast dress selection with my consultant (I had Kim - and she was FANTASTIC!!). The appointment started off pretty awkwardly, and Kim managed to pick up that I was uneasy; I explained to her that I had had a bad experience at another store, and she assured me that she would work with me to have a better experience. She alternated between my dress choices and my mom's (I had no one else with me at the appointment), and was very funny and friendly to work with. I was so pleased with the experience and I ended up buying my dress there. The worst part was the store being so busy due to the sample sale; the halls are very narrow and it felt like an Olympic feat to keep people from walking on the dresses I was trying on. However, I know it was my fault for keeping my appointment on that date, as I wouldn't have been able to reschedule easily. read more

I had a similar experience as Teresa. When I first went in to try on and pick out a dress, the service was amazing. The girl that helped me did a great job and helped me find many dresses to try on that were exactly what I was looking for. I narrowed it down to a top 5, and all were beautiful and not nearly as expensive as I thought they would be. But then, after I found THE dress and purchased it, the customer service pretty much just went away. I spent 16 long weeks waiting for my dress to get in, which is a normal amount of time, but when I called to check on it , IT HAD BEEN SITTING IN THEIR BACK ROOM FOR 2 WEEKS! And no one had called to inform me that my dress was in! The next thing that annoyed me was the fact that they told me I needed to have all the bridesmaids order their dresses ASAP, by the 1st of the year. I didn't want to put that on my bridesmaids right before the holidays, so I asked them all to order their dresses by February 1st. Well Something Blue told 2 of my bridesmaids that they could wait until april and still order their dresses, which made me look crazy because I sent out 4 emails reminding them to order by February 1st because I thought I was late. AND since 2 didnt order their dresses until April, non of the dresses will be in until possibly July 4 and my wedding is August 1st and the majority of my bridesmaids are out of town, which means less than 4 weeks to ship and alter the dresses. awesome. THEN I went in to order one of my bridemaids dresses for her and when I gave the woman her measurements, she looked at me and said "You will need to call your bridesmaid and inform her that either she needs to recheck her measurements or she will not be able to wear this dress." Suggesting that they don't make a dress big enough for my bridesmaid. I explained to her that she is a size 18 (the dresses go up to 27) and finally had her recheck her measurements and got her dress ordered, but the woman was SO RUDE about it and I am just so glad that it was me that took the measurements in and not my friend because I would have been Mortified about how rude they were about it. The next thing they did was inform my very well endowed bridesmaid, who has a large chest but a small waist, that the smallest size she could fit into is a size 16. This girl is normally a size 6-8. Her wedding dress is a size 6, and she is getting married A MONTH before me. But here is something blue asking her to get a 16, and then get it altered down to a size 6??? Yes she has a large chest but it is not TEN SIZES bigger than she actually needs. They were also VERY rude to her about that situation. The latest issue I have had with them is when I went in to look at their Invitations, which I was told MULTIPLE times that if I purchased my gown there I would get 50%. When the saleswoman came up to talk to my fiance and I about the invitations she said "Well if you bought your gown AND HEADPEICE OR VEIL here, you get 50% off of your invites". Gown and headpeice??? I was told gown, my mother was told gown, and so was my maid of honor. I called each to verify that I wasn't just going crazy. I borrowed my head peice from a friend but I spent $1000 on a dress at something blue. I also ordered all 6 bridesmaids dresses from there. So in all Something Blue has made somewhere around $2000 off my wedding and because I didn't spend $100 on a veil, I don't get the discount I was told I would get on the invites? Bottom line is, they do have great dresses at great prices, but the service is SERIOUSLY lacking. It was amazing at first but the second they had my money, they were rude to me and my bridesmaids. My daughter was looking for a wedding dress and was feeling discouraged and rushed from the saleswomen in the two other shops we had been to before. A coworker recommended Something Blue. We called and were able to get a bridal appointment very quickly and upon arrival we were greeted by several nice saleswomen. All of them took an interest in the bride and expressed their excitement for her. The consultant assigned to her was excellent and did not rush the experience at all. She not only took the time to ask her what she wanted, but also encouraged her to try on gowns that she didn't think she would like - because she may be surprised. Only after finding out what our daughter wanted in a dress did she ask about our budget ($1000 for dress and veil). She then encouraged her to wander among the dresses that were in her budget and they worked together to pick those she wanted to try on; she never pushed or suggested a dress outside of her budget. She ended up trying on a dozen dresses and the appointment lasted almost 2 hours! She never rushed her through any dress and allowed our daughter to really contemplate each one. She asked her questions about the fit and the style and pointed out things on each dress. In the end she "said yes to the dress" and the store owner even came out to see her and congratulate her. This was not a unique experience either as there was another woman in the store who had chosen her dress and received the same treatment by her associate that we received by ours. This is the oldest bridal store in the state of Alabama and it is an experience to shop here. As the mother of the bride I was so pleased to see our daughter happy instead of rushed and stressed and our daughter left the store with not only a big smile but a very happy memory of the moment when she chose her wedding dress. This is by far the rudest store that I have ever been in. I went in looking for a veil and a reception dress. First off, they rolled their eyes at one of my bridesmaids when she asked a simple question about a flower girl dress for her daughter. I found a beautiful veil and a reception dress in the store. They happened to also have my ceremony dress (bought mine at another store). I wanted to try on the veil with the dress that was identical to mine to make sure it went with it prior to paying $350 since they don't allow returns. I was told in a very hateful tone that I was not allowed to try on the veil with their dress since I bought my dress somewhere else. I simply asked why if I was looking to buy both a veil and a reception dress from them that I couldn't try on their ceremony dress. The response was shocking! She said "If you don't like the way we run things around here, there is the door and you can get the hell out!" That is not the way to treat someone who is about to spend close to $2000 in your store on a veil and reception dress! We walked out and will never go back again. read more

We traveled a long distance to go to this shop and was disappointed by everyone's lack of enthusiasm. We both felt like our consultant gave up on us after two dress tries. When I said "no these are not the ones" she responded with "Well, I hope you find your dress". I wanted to shop more but after her vibe we left. We couldn't take pictures of the gowns that we tried on and the consultant came into the fitting room with me, which I felt so uncomfortable! i went in excited to look for a prom dress with my mom. we were greeted at the door prompted to sign in for a fitting room, so we did. i have never bought a prom dress from a store, only used or from a friend, therefore i didn't know my true size. so i got a worker that was going to help me with the dressing room, and she asked my size and i said i wasn't sure she said i was a 2-4 just by looking at me. i was looking and found about 4 dresses, but this one on the 0 rack really caught my eye, i told her and she said "we better try these on first, it hurts to like a dress that might not fit". Anyways we walked in the dressing room and tried on some stuff, only one dress had caught my eye. Earlier that day i had went to another shop and saw i dress i really liked, and had pictures of the dress, but i wanted to see all of my options. I was basically deciding between the two dresses, i wanted to ask my boyfriend as well since it is his prom, she kept prompting me to call him and being very pushy like, "rate it 1-10". When my boyfriend finally answered he said he liked the other dress and so did i, she proceeded to say, "how did it make you feel that he chose the other dress?". i said it was okay because i liked both. Then she said "can i see a picture of the other dress?". We said sure, this was my final straw, she said,"Now i don't mind if you buy your dress from here,*laughed*, but that dress just looks cheap." As a little girl I grew up within walking distance of this shoppe. Their window displays would attract the eyes of any young princess. Sadly, their staff's attitude is nothing shy of rude, unappreciative, and snobby. I was told as a child I wasn't allowed to look at their 'pretty dresses' and was escorted out of the store. Over the years I tried to forgive them and give them a second, third, fourth chance when my winter formals and proms came around but they always seemed to discriminate if your weren't the hartselle 'elite' or politically correct. What they didn't know is I could afford any dress in their store plus more. Finally my sister who is a plus sized girl came into this shop and they would ignore her and not wait on her for the other skinny girls who just walked in. We were just looking to see if a dress would fit and the lady ripped it out of her hands and said 'this one is already going to winter formal you can't have it'. To which I kindly told her we just needed to try it on at this point to see what fit. She looked at us with disgust so I proceeded to tell her that if she liked the dress we did not have to give them our business. Needless to say if you are looking for a caring staff who prioritizes you DO NOT GO HERE! Classy lady is 30 minutes up the road in Cullman. I and my sister have bought all of our dresses there. The staff makes Something Blue look SAD as well as the amount of dresses they have far outnumbers something blue. read more
