This review is not only about a ruined couch slipcover and cushion cover but it's equally about the…read moretreatment my daughter received from the OWNER himself. My daughter purchased a new slip covered couch in December. About 3-4 weeks ago she spilled coffee on the slipcover and one cushion cover. I dropped them off for her at the Bridges St location. A week later she picked them up and I was with her. I thought it was odd that they were folded in a plastic bag and she said it was only $25. I made a comment but didn't question it. Then we go to her house and she pulled them out and it was shockingly obvious that they had been laundered and not dry cleaned. Both pieces were 4-5 times darker then the white they had been when they were dropped off. I literally said to her "they've ruined them." There was no doubt in my mind that they wouldn't compensate her for them because they looked 10 years old and like they had been drug thru mud. The next morning, my daughter called the main location in Morehead and asked the lady who answered the phone if she could look up her ticket and tell her if her items were dry cleaned or laundered. The lady said absolutely, she came back to the phone and told her that they were laundered. My daughter said she wanted the owner(s) to see them and the lady said the owner was there till noon. My daughter took them up to the store and as she was walking thru the door, two older men were standing behind the counter, one being the owner, and he backed up as she approached the counter and took his finger and pointed to this little sign on the wall that said something about not being responsible for household items. He didn't say one word to her and REFUSED to even look at the slipcover and cushion cover. REFUSED. She said to him "is this seriously how you are going to address this situation?" And he responded with "yes, it seriously is."Then at one point he basically mocked her when she was saying how they didn't mention to her that they didn't get the stains out, he backed up and bent forward and said "we couldn't get the stains out." The owner also told my daughter that she didn't know that they didn't dry clean them and she told him she had called that morning and the lady standing there told her they were not dry cleaned, that they were laundered. The other man there then chimes in, with something to the effect of "oh wait, I remember now, I dry cleaned them myself." My daughter looked at him and said "you're lying through your teeth." Needless to say the exchange was unpleasant at the very least but the owners lack of respect for her and his condescending approach is truly a reflection of his character. I am telling everyone I know about this experience in the hopes that they don't go back to Sunshine Cleaners.

This is without a doubt the worst laundromat I've ever seen. My family travels the country for a…read moreliving so we've seen plenty & I don't know how this place is in business. It's filthy, first of all. Trash & cigarette butts all over the floor inside. The machines (the ones to at aren't out of order because at least half of them don't even work) are rusted & covered in grime. There's towels wadded up on the floor because the machines leak. Even if the machines don't have an out of order sign, don't count on them to work. Got all my laundry loaded into a washer only to find out the door was broken & wouldn't close. Had to move everything, now soaked with detergent, into a different washer. That second washer totally skipped the spin cycle at the end & left my clothes absolutely soaked when it was time to dry. Vending machines are also out of order. The kids toy machines are empty but you won't find that out until your kid puts money inside & ends up with no toy. I had to separate my laundry into 4 separate tiny washers because of how many don't work, specifically the big ones. Guess how much that cost? $20.50 to wash what should've been 3 loads of clothes in a standard sized washer. That cost was just washing, drying cost me even more. Save yourself the headache & drive a little farther to do lau if you have to.

Your Newport location has failed me miserably. My $200 UGG blanket (a Christmas gift from two of my…read morechildren) was washed, rather than dry cleaned as requested. I paid for the service, only to open the bag and find my (still wet) blanket ruined. The blanket was "kept to show the owner the damage" with the promise I would be contacted. I never was contacted. More than a month, 4 in-person visits & 7 phone calls later, I still do not have my property, compensation nor a replacement blanket as promised. I've been promised on 3 separate occasions that an owner would contact me. That hasn't happened either. I'm given a different excuse EVERY time. Most recently, I was told the whereabouts of the blanket are unknown. I'm not a litigious person. But now, it's the principle of it. GIVE ME MY PROPERTY BACK! It has emotional value. It has monetary value. I have paid for a service that was not rendered. GIVE ME MY PROPERTY BACK!

Christine's Alterations - Locked door during business hours. Wouldn't pick up phone.

My order was one month late and she's always changing hours. She is also never in the shop and leaves notes on the door to come back another time. She didn't bother to snip loose threads after tailoring, and the dry cleaning was mediocre. I never leave reviews, but the experience was so bad I felt inclined to help someone else avoid this place. How do you expect to get good reviews when you make false promises and not even be in your store during the hours YOU POSTED as open? Thats not how a business works. Don't waste your time or money like I did. (The door is locked in the photo and she wouldn't pick up the phone. It was my fifth visit before I finally got my clothes)

I have waited a long time to post this review as I seldom give a small business owner negative…read morefeedback. However, after much consideration I have decided it is warranted in this case. I enjoy wearing expensive clothing and am able to do so by buying pre-owned items which I could not afford if new. I am very selective in my purchases and know my body's dimensions in precise detail. During April I took several items of quality men's clothing to Christine for some simple alterations including the letting out of waistlines, the finishing of hems, and the replacement of buttons. Each item of clothing was accompanied by a handwritten block printed note requesting (as in "please...." ) the specific alteration that I desired, such as "please let out the waist to 36 inches". I would estimate that there were approximately ten items in total. She accepted my clothing and instructions and took my contact information. The first warning sign was that the receipt she issued me did not specify the number of items I was receipting to her, the work she was to perform, an itemized expense for each requested alteration, nor a total amount which would be due. She requested that I make a deposit and I was receptive to that as I am used to paying 100% up front for alterations. She specified a pickup date two weeks into the future in which I was fine with. I visited her shop approximately three weeks afterwards (intentionally allowing additional time for her completion) and no work had been performed. I was told to come back in a week. In approximately ten days I returned and again no work had been completed. I was told to return in a week. In a week I returned and you know what I was told. At about the 45 day mark I received a phone call that my order was complete and ready for pickup. I arrived her shop and the first problem was that she had difficulty locating all of my clothing. The next problem was she told me she had not performed several of the alterations I had requested as "those clothes are already the dimension you requested!" I ask you - based upon what I have shared so far in this review - do I impress you as someone precise and meticulous or does she? And finally, she proceeded to quote an astronomical total price for the work she had (not) done. At this point I was just happy to get my clothes back, pay her, and get out of her shop. In fact, I was so exasperated and in a hurry to leave that I failed to notice she had failed to credit me for my deposit against the final amount due. Engage Christine for alterations at your own peril. Some of her reviewers seem quite satisfied with her work. Are you feeling lucky?
