There is a "pre-market" with prepared foods and things to eat in regular retail stores and outside eateries. That section is followed by the market itself which has dozens of arts and crafts stations where people sell everything you want/need/wish to have to remember your trip. One tip: cash is king. Some only accept cash and others will give a discount if you use cash. My general rule is that it is always safer to use cash than card in these types of markets. Anyway, there is an endless assortment of t-shirts and other clothing; knick-knacks such as alligator heads; jewelry; paintings; leather work; hats; on and on. The market is huge. Expect to spend a minimum of two hours. Even more if you are a serious shopper. It's fun and a great way to spend some time when visiting New Orleans.

French Market in New Orleans was definitely that for me on my trip out there. I had heard of it before i arrived but I truly didn't know how great it was. I stumbled upon it after visiting Cafe Du Monde near Jackson Square. I decided to walk off those beignets off and stumbled upon the French Market. It was overwhelming. Just rows and rows of vendors and food spots. It's an open-air market though it is covered. My favorite spot in there was Loretta's Pralines and her famous savory crab beignets-which is in competition for my favorite bite in all of New Orleans. It's a perfect spot to buy darn near everything a tourist would want to buy on a New Orleans vacation. It's located right near the outer edges of the French Quarter and the Riverwalk. It covers about six blocks and dates back to the early 1800s. It truly is a piece of New Orleans history. I feel it's a true "must-visit" spot for anyone coming to the wonderful city of New Orleans.

Trés belle, Muses! I…read morewas able to enjoy Muses from a fun perch just past the Circle this year so I had a great view of the floats. I loved the local twist on famous pieces of artwork and the consistency in look from float to float. I would say my spot was about two-thirds into the route and some folks were still hurling hand-crafted works of shoe art, though after one year when I got too serious over a swiped bedazzled boot, I've refrained from really putting too much heart into coveting throws but can still admire all the hard work! I did love all the fun blinky throws with my favorite letter "M" on them and I absolutely love this little coin purse ( see picture). The marching bands were killin' it with some of the littlest members I've ever seen! And you couldn't even tell some of the marching krewes like the Organ Grinders and the Pussyfooters had been in the downpour the night before during Nyx with how much energy they were putting into their march! I was incredibly impressed! Last but not least, my absolute favorite float of the entire year, even more so than their Sirens float, was their new float, The Goddessey. It was so incredibly lovely. So happy for this new edition! 'Till next year!

And each night that the Muses come through they throw the coolest stuff to the crowds below and never miss a moment of entertaining everyone that came to see them. If you go anywhere in New Orleans on Mardi Gras and hear that this Krewe of Muses is having a parade, make time to go there and I strongly recommend you get there early. Because the crowd is going to be thick. Hint: Look for shoes.

What I will remember the most about the French Quarter was the parts of it that you don't see on…read moresocial media. The parts where people actually live. Believe it or not there is a residential part of the French Quarter. I saw actual schools in the French Quarter that are there for the little kids who live there. I never would've known that if I hadn't went off the beaten path in the French Quarter. There are little markets and little community sports bars that are 100% filled or used by locals, not a tourist in sight. The architecture in those sections of the French Quarter are a little beat up in comparison to the more popular parts like Bourbon Street or Jackson Square. But the buildings still look pretty awesome. So my recommendation would be if you find yourself in the French Quarter, take a walk away from the touristy parts and venture off to the hidden part of the French Quarter-it's pretty awesome.

This street NEVER sleeps!!! Haha!!!Different experience! I actually visited Bourbon Street THREE times during this stay, and every single visit was fun!!! There is ALWAYS something going on...Live music, street performers, restaurants, bars, colorful lights, souvenir shops, people dancing, and entertainment EVERYWHERE Literally everyehere!!! The energy is absolutely incredible!!!High vibes, happy people... First, a little bit of HISTORY!!! Bourbon Street dates back to the early 18th century, when New Orleans was founded by the French in 1718. Interestingly, it wasn't named after bourbon whiskey which most people thinks including myself at first years ago when i visited for first time lol!!! It was named after the House of Bourbon, the French royal dynasty!!! How interesting is that?! Now let's talk about the ARCHITECTURE!!! The historic buildings, beautiful wrought-iron balconies, colorful facades, and charming French Quarter atmosphere make this street so unique!!! Around 9:30 PM, I suddenly heard loud brass music coming down the street!!! And guess what?! A whole group of musicians was marching through Bourbon Street, playing trumpets, trombones, saxophones, and drums, while police escorted the procession!!! People were DANCING, CHANTING, CLAPPING, and following the musicians!!! OMG!!! What an AMAZING atmosphere!!! It looked like one of NOLO's famous second line parades, a local tradition where musicians lead the procession and people follow behind, dancing and celebrating!!! I immediately grabbed my phone and started recording!!! What a beautiful and unexpected experience!!! This is exactly why I love traveling...Sometimes the best memories are the ones you never planned!!! One thing to keep in mind!!! Bourbon Street can get very crowded and loud, especially at night!!! So wear comfortable shoes, keep an eye on your belongings, and be ready for a lively atmosphere!!! Haha!!! Overall, Bourbon street is much more than just bars and nightlife...It's a combination of HISTORY, MUSIC, ARCHITECTURE, CULTURE, FOOD, and the incredible spirit of NOLA!!!
