The Singing Bridge carries Bridge Street (shocking, eh?) over the Kentucky River, joining Downtown Frankfort with South Frankfort. It is a two-lane vehicle and pedestrian bridge.
It is a 400-foot long Pennsylvania truss bridge built in 1893, refurbished in 1956 and 2010. However in 2020, the bridge's load rating was reduced from 9 tons to 3 tons. It used to carry US Route 60 but that road was rerouted to the nearby War Mothers Memorial Bridge, which I did not cross and did not review.
The bridge has an open-grate steel deck which makes a humming noise as vehicles cross over, hence the name "Singing Bridge." And yes, it does exactly that.
