We were at Silver Fox New Years for a wedding and the owner Sara and her fiancé were great. The building which used to be a masonic temple was recently rehabed by the owners and is great. I would recommend working with them for an event you want to do that is not in a cookie cutter banquet/wedding hall. Great people.

I just had my wedding here, and the night was perfect! We had the ceremony upstairs, the cocktail hour in the bar, and the reception in the dining room. The natural decor the this beautifully rehabbed building can not be beat. I know everyone says the pictures don't do the building justice, but to see it in person is breath-taking. And the staff - amazing!! Sarah and Bill kept things running smoothly all night, so i had nothing to worry about. My family is already dreaming up excuses to have another event here!!

My husband and I had our wedding here in October of 2015, and we could not have been any happier. To begin, the beautiful craftsmanship of the restored 1920's Masonic Temple struck me with such romance as soon as I visited. Located in Starved Rock country, the soaring tin ceilings, the chandeliers, and the woodwork stole my heart. We easily decided that we would be married in the restored 2nd floor meeting room, have our cocktail hour in the lounge downstairs, with dinner and dancing in the adjacent ballroom. Not only was the space breathtaking, but the many decor elements included in the contract sealed the deal for us. The chiavari chairs, tables, linens, settings, and flatware were all included in the price. Bartenders would be provided, though we would supply the drinks and alcohol. Instead of paying per head for drinks, we were able to save money and customize our bar menu. We served our favorite craft beer, a crowd favorite, Revolution AntiHero. The Bridal room is very comfortable to sit and be nervous in and the Groomsmen room upstairs is a rarity. We could hear the men cheering as they played foosball upstairs, a comfortable place for them to relax before the wedding also. For our reception, the Silver Fox suggested several catering companies, though allowed any of our choice. We happily went with Stone Jug BBQ out of Peru, IL. Mac and cheese, cornbread, green beans and bacon, flanked by pulled pork and brisket. What a spread! We ate at our sweetheart table while our wedding party sat with their dates and families. You can choose round tables or long tables. The staff at the Silver Fox were kind, accommodating, and quick! They broke down some tables for dancing in minutes and even cut our cake for our guests. The one drawback would be the distance to any hotels. We did have to bus our guests in and out with Green River Lines charter buses. Though the trip was worth it because my pictures are amazing! Thank you Silver Fox! A wedding to remember!

A venue can make or break a reception, and The Silver Fox MADE it! My brother's wedding took place there this weekend, and we've received texts all day gushing about this stunning and charming place. Sarah made it come to life by helping in any & every way possible, including touring my family & friends around the building (which was SO cool because of its incredible history!) What a night to remember!

The oldest Polish National Alliance in the US, established in 1898, the PNA Hall is a staple of the…read moreStreator community. The defining meeting space of a Polish community that is strong and has been in Streator for over a century. Furthered in the mid-century days by a concentration-camp survivor named Father Switka, the Polish community in Streator has been and still is strong. This is an old-school event venue - a full bar - make that two full bars - and two spaces: one for large gatherings: weddings, reunions, special ceremonies. The other for smaller ones: work parties, birthdays, banquets. The owners and board of directors, are staples of the community. Dorothy Swital was the first female Grand Master, and possibly the last. At 101, she is a matriarch in the community. She and her son Gary run the joint in the spirit of their forefathers and mothers: they don't turn anyone away - and they charge reasonable prices: $300 per three hours of the event space, and $750 per three hours for the reception space (call to ask for updated rates). And they have, doubtless, been involved in the community for decades. You walk in and see it - wood panels, the PNA Charter from 1898, and a warmly lit bar on the right. The left opens up into a seating area, a heater-fireplace, and a kitchen. Two full bathrooms on the far right corner. Tile floor, and beamed ceilings bring you back to the 1970s. And you know, right away, that this space is meaningful - and you quickly learn - that is has been, for nearly a century. A quick conversation with Gary Swital tells me this: he doesn't put up with any crap: when the state tried to tax them, he pushed back. When the church tried to steal their money, his mom did. When the church tried to steal their purse (eminent domain them) he bucked again. This place stands for everything that is great about Streator: good times, good fun, and community. Parties, work galas, fundraisers, funeral dinners, social clubs, reunions, weddings, funerals: this space has seen everything in its 100 years of existence. And Gary and Dorothy Swital have been instrumental in its flourishing for over 75 of those years.

Our tent was fabulous and so comfortable, and that even includes the pull-out couch. The grounds are lovely with wildflowers everywhere you turn. Follow the paths, and you'll find yourself at Blue Heron Creek and Vermilion River. Bring your water shoes for some aquatic hiking. The kiddos and I did plenty of exploring. The best surprise of Camp Aramoni is the food that's included during your stay. Our group was blown away by how delicious and thoughtfully crafted everything was, from the cinnamon butter for your breakfast waffle to the focaccia pizza at dinnertime to the homemade marshmallow for your campfire. We also purchased a Chicago dog lunch, which was plentiful and included the kitchen's own bbq chips. Know that if you have dietary restrictions, Camp Aramoni is incredibly accommodating. If you want to stay at the camp the entire time, I recommend two nights, which gives you a full day to explore the 96 acres of camp as well as relax at your tent. If you were to stay longer, there's plenty to do in the area between the state parks and Utica. I hope I'm lucky enough to enjoy a second round at Camp Aramoni. This is a very special place worth every penny!

You're paying $500+ per night to be in one of eleven tents/cabins that are all tightly squished together in a row. Zero forestry separating them. Zero privacy unless you're hunkered in your cabin. Zero feeling of seclusion. Zero feeling of wilderness or camping vibes. If I am paying this much for a "luxury camping experience", I expect at least part of that value proposition to be not seeing my neighbor 20 feet away from me when we're sitting at our fire pits as you would be at a basic campground like Starved Rock. Their marketing materials claimed the Flora and Fauna cabin is "surrounded by forest" and secluded...but it's on the same silly strip of road, in the same row of cabins just 10 to 20 feet from the neighboring cabin. It just so happens to be the one on the end. I would feel less compelled to leave a negative review if Aramoni wasn't straight up lying to customers in how they describe the property.

Damn place has too many selections that are not really selections because everything tasted so good…read moreI had to stop tasting or I would have had to buy them out and my credit card only allows so much before it reports me to my wife. I do NOT like bourbon. Yet, somehow, tasting theirs made me decide that it is just some bourbons I don't like. And may I also add, that I do not like rum as a sipping drink, it only belongs in a coke as a teenager. Their rum (specifically the navy strength rum) holy cow, a perfect sipping "whiskey." NOW, I come to the liquors I like, nay love, as life itself. Scotch whiskey...... they don't make it..... ok then my other favorite nectar of the gods, TEQUILA.... Specifically repasado or anejo. In this case, theirs is called "rested tequila." It is sweet for tequila, but only for "unsweetened tequila" meaning no added BS or sugar (which surprisingly some big labels use.) it has a profile similar but BETTER and less sweet than Casamigos repasado. It is really VERY good, not astringent and deceptively smooth so that it could be dangerous, time will tell. This place is worth a 20-30 mile detour to check out their tasting room and cave like atmosphere. It is a shame we were not at this place 40 years ago when I could have lit up a cigar. Oh well.
