These guys were ok a few years ago but they have a big ego now. High prices and unfinished work. I brought my Honda in last summer for an alternator and AC issue. $998 later the alternator was fixed but the AC was still not working. Will, one of the owners, said that he fixed the AC but couldn't figure out why it wasn't working still. Said he thought it was an electrical issue but didn't have 'time' to work on it. Now they are selling cars and not making sure that they are safe enough. Incomplete and overpriced. It was great that they were nearby but won't be going there again. read more

Don't listen to the negative reviews. I've been going to The Shop for the last 7 years now. They were recommended to me by a coworker, so I tried them out. The staff are super friendly, and Will and Dave always take care of me. They're all like family to me now that we've gotten to know each other over the years. 95% of the time they can fit me in right away. They do have their busy times, so there might be a small chance where you have to wait a day or two to get your car in. Oil changes are quick and the cheapest around the area. They've changed my transmission for me, which helped my 2005 Honda CR-V run to about 275K miles. They've changed belts, worked on my brakes, done tune-ups...you name it, they've probably done everything on my old SUV. And she purred like a kitten after. Plus, they didn't take all of my money. They work hard, are honest with me and fix all my car issues. They keep the prices down as much as they can. I recently had to get a new car, and the guys check in with me every now and again to see how I like it. If you're in the Pocasset area, I highly recommend taking your vehicles to The Shop. I heard they were fast, taking in cars same or next day, which was true. What I didn't know was that they will never just "check" a car. If you're looking for a place to have someone "take a look" at what's wrong with it, then steer clear. If you drop your car off here, they won't let you get away with just a diagnose like other shops will. Been here 3 times. Looking at my collected receipts, they work for $79/h. $378 for an engine temp sensor plus a small tune-up. $306 for a new alternator. $80 for a coolant cap. That's plus labor obviously but you get the idea, apparently it takes 2.5 hours to install an alternator and 1 hour to wait for a cap to arrive. Yesterday I came in, just asked them to see if they could take a look to see why my coolant leaks after I shut it down. Before saying anything to me, they did a pressure test and found nothing, diagnosed a bad cap, $10, plus $15 for new coolant, $50 for the test, and guess what? It's still leaking coolant. They're also one of those places that keeps replacing alternators without considering the fact that the battery might be old - which was the case. They keep true to their long warranty. I know because every time I go there, they mention my gasket is leaking and they keep fixing it under warranty over and over again. They said they'll redo the pressure test for free, but that's all the compensation I'll get. I won't be getting my $80 back. There is no safe scenario with this place, even in the event you know what's wrong with your car, it's still overpriced. read more

The issue started a couple months ago when we had The Shop replace my calipers. We provided the parts, they did the work. Fast forward to now, when my brakes have been having issues so I took it back. Apparently my calipers had been seizing for a while and completely destroyed my brakes. All the parts (rotors, pads, etc) were within a year of being new and now they're ruined. Turns out they warranty their parts but not their work, so despite the calipers THEY replaced not even 3 months ago having issues and destroying my brakes, they did nothing about it. Thankfully my husband is good with cars and I saved myself hundreds of dollars by having him replace all brake parts. As it was, they adjusted the rear brakes and it came out to $100, about $25-40 more than I usually pay elsewhere. The same day, I went in for an oil change. I drive a corolla, so I get the standard conventional oil, and told them as such when I dropped off the car. If they forget, it's marked on my mechanic sticker on the windshield and labeled near the oil area under the hood. I come back to pick up the car to find full synthetic oil on my receipt and the synthetic price, making my bill way more than it should have been. I brought the mistake to the woman at the front desk's attention and she checked the paper from the drop off and sure enough, she'd written down the wrong kind of oil on my paper because she was distracted that morning. Not to mention, my car had "conventional" checked off on the sticker on the windshield beforehand, and no one thought to question putting SYNTHETIC OIL INTO A COROLLA or even call me to confirm it was correct. They put the wrong oil in my car because of that woman's error and she didn't offer to have them fix it and put the proper oil in the car or even change my receipt to reflect how much I should've paid so I wasn't paying $30ish more than I should have, despite me asking her to do both. All I got was an "oops" and "your car can't take synthetic can it? Oh well; I'll make sure next time we put the right stuff in next time". Sorry, but you've got to be kidding yourself to think that there will be a next time. I will be going out of my way to find another mechanic that can't mess up a basic oil change. read more

Bubble gum and duct tape mechanics, BEWARE !! My truck caught fire after they replaced brake lines with using wrong parts and put a seem on a rubber line right next to exhaust manifold, the truck is supposed to have all metal lines? So $11,750. In damage to that vehicle? Now let's discuss my wife's car and the new transmission they put in, so 21 miles after leaving there shop, it locks up with kids in the car going to school. Ok maybe theres a warranty or a defective tranny, NOPE, says Jasper it was improperly installed voiding all warranties, leaving me having to pay another $3500. To be properly replaced again by a actual qualified mechanic shop, needless to mention getting a estimate of $3600. And having a $5600. Bill when picking up the vehicle from them, with all the extras they decided upon themselfs to supposedly fix to? To then have a Bubble Gum and Duct Tape job done. Whenever you have an issue with your vehicle it can be a nightmare trying to find honest mechanics who won't charge you a arm and a leg to fix minor issues. I was aware of the shop for many years but only recently went and had work on my Jeep Liberty. I am so glad I did! They were very professional and friendly. I am from Nashua, NH and ran into bad luck with the fan going in my van. We made it to The Shop and they were awesome. They were prompt with helping us. We ended up having to rent a van due to it be the end of work day. They made sure we were all set with a car before leaving for the day. My kids were given a box of candy to make sure I left the key when changing out vans. They promised to have the van ready the next business day which they were spot on. They are fairly priced and friendly people. They helped us out during this stressful time. read more

I'm glad that I didn't let the previous reviews scare me away from The Shop. I decided to give them a try after multiple recommendations from a local Facebook group. I have nothing but good things to say! First of all, when I initially called to make my appointment the person on the end of the line was super friendly and polite - even when I, like an idiot, couldn't identify if my issue was in the front or back. They got me in quickly, were again super friendly when I dropped off my vehicle (they even offered me a ride!), and the service was done promptly. I'm certainly no expert on reasonable rates for car repair, but according to the internet I was charged at the looooow end of average for the repairs I had done. I certainly hope that I don't have the need, but I will absolutely be bringing my car back for any future repairs! read more

i visited this shop to check them out as they are new in the neighborhood. i gave them a simple job, an oil change. they did get the oil i requested, castrol gtx. how ever they weren't paying attention to detail and over filled my crankcase. i did return and and told will of my complaint. he checked the level and thought it was ok . i know my car and know better! the level was the highest i have ever seen in the two years i've owned the car. if they can't get an oil change correct ,i wouldn't trust them with anything else. you'll take your chances with this place!!! wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
