A lovely seaside pub in the tiny Suffolk village of Dunwich. The food strikes the right balance between price and quality: not too fancy, not too cheap. And the fish and chips are absolutely delicious. There's a lot of seafood on here, no surprise, and everything I've tried has been wonderful. Their homemade chicken liver paté is worth a go, as well.
There's two halves to the place: a proper pub with lots of old wood and crackling fireplace, and an easygoing dining room. I like the pub room better: it's very friendly, more condusive to chatter and meeting people. But take your pick. Ales are Adnams.
It is an inn, so they have rooms, but I've not stayed overnight.
This is a lovely little part of East Anglia, and a great pub at which to refresh yourself while visiting. read more
