Amazing service, dropped off four well used knives and picked up four razor sharp edges the next day. One knife was made of a high carbon steel that had developed some minor chips which he took extra care to and repaired for no extra charge. For 5$ a knife this place cant be beat! read more

Great guy! He sharpened 3 knifes and a scissors like I have never seen before! I wish I came sooner. Very, very reasonable and knowledgeable. I went in at the dog groomer next door- he and his wife are the owners. I will come back and recommend them. read more

Thanks Mike! I appreciate you and your efficient service and great prices!!! You are a neighborhood gem! read more

Service was great, the person was transparent and educated me on proper sharpening techniques. I realized where I had taken it previously was not doing it properly. It was actually damaging my knives. The best part was he gave me a couple of my knives/scissors as a complementary gesture, the value for the service was perfect. read more

I've just used them once but was very pleased with the service will definitely use again. read more

Really appreciated the owner's service. I showed up towards the end of the evening and he happily sharped about 10 knives for me. He is very knowledgeable and loves what he does. Price was very fair! read more

Mike took four kitchen knives, four pairs of scissors, a pet trimmer, a set of salon scissors, a couple sentimental items and sharpened them all in less than an hour of my knocking on his door uninvited. He also quickly did the pocket knife I forgot in my pocket when I came back to pick them up. I got a lot for the money! All the scissors work like butter and the knives and implements are perfectly sharp! read more

The Sharp Edge - chef, bread, pocket knives, kitchen shears, pet nail trimmer, medieval implement - Knife Sharpening Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Fast and reasonably priced service. Sharpened a block of knives within an hour with no appointment.

I'm super impressed!! Maybe it's just me or maybe it's 2020 but I miss good service. Ok so I've used other places in the city and even tried that service where you mail them and they return them sharpened and tbh I've been disappointed by the quality of the sharpening and/or the turnaround. NEITHER WERE ISSUES HERE!! I just got my 5 knives returned to me 2 hours after dropping them off!! WOW!! And after a couple tests cuts, these bad boys have never been so SHARP!!! Price was super reasonable too. Don't be discouraged when you walk up to the door and see the "ring doorbell" and don't feel weird you didn't need to fill out a ton of paperwork. My man took down my number and said he'd get them back to me today or tomorrow and he totally delivered on his word. Wont be trusting anyone else going forward. read more

The Sharp Edge - Got them returned gift wrapped!! lol - Knife Sharpening Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Mike is friendly and does superb work. Ring the bell at his door and he'll be there shortly! He sharpened 3 chef's knives and 2 paring knives in an hour. I ran a couple errands and he called me when they were ready. One of the chef's knives was a Zwilling I found at Goodwill for $2 that was in terrible shape with a slightly bent tip. All are incredibly sharp and ready to go, and the bent tip is straightened. I won't go anywhere else. read more

We had been looking for another Knife Sharpener since ours closed 4 years ago. We got tired of complaining to each other how our imported German Cutlery now had trouble slicing a tomato. Found The Sharp Edge online, looked at the positive Yelp reviews and gave Mike a call. He was friendly, knowledgeable, priced fairly, and brought all seven (7) back to life while we waited. This included repairing Bread Knife blade damage done by a previous shop. I would recommend Mike | The Sharp Edge to anyone who cooks, invests in good knives, and wants to keep their tools sharp. Thanks! read more

I am so glad I found this! They did a wonderful job on my knives! would give 10 stars if I could.

Dropped off 4 knives and an scissor. He left voice mail that it was done about 1.5 hours later. When I picked up , he explained that he couldn't sharpen scissors since it was riveted in and not screwed in. Demonstrated that knives were sharp by cutting a piece of paper. read more

My wife called Mike on snowy day in February to have our kitchen knife set sharpened. We showed up 10 minutes later after calling and was able to get in right then. Mike finished sharpening all the knives (11) in an hour and a half! The knives came out great! Having a knife sharpener at this caliber in the area has been needed for years. Glad to have found The Sharp Edge. We will definitely be coming back. read more

Mike took care of our 3 kitchen knives and kitchen shears in an hour and did a wonderful job! Thank you so much for the great service.

I took my knives to be sharpened on Monday and am so happy with how they turned out! My knives were so dull that they were dangerous to use. I called Michael that day and was able to drop them off and pick them back up in an hour and a half. The price was super reasonable and Michael was so friendly. He even gave me dog a cookie! I'm so glad I finally took them in! Highly recommend. read more

Mike @ The Sharp Edge did exceptional craftsmanship on my old & abused kitchen cutlery! None of my knives are of fine quality (one is a rock-N-chop cleaver). Nevertheless in one hours time all four utensils were filed to razor sharpness. It's always reassuring to find a classic old school Mom & Pop brick & mortar store specializing in old World techniques. Inexpensive! The blades were returned giftwrapped in butcher paper. This Service would make really thoughtful gifts to any of your home culinary chefs. Never forget: a dull blade is many more times likely to cause serious injuries that its' freshly sharpened counterpart. HIGHLY recommended! read more

Knives and my scissors look great! Timing was quick and wrapped nicely for transport back home. Thanks!

Who knew? Our favorite knives needed some badly needed TLC. A neighborhood shop took care of it. Unbelievably satisfied with sharpening service and price. Called Mike dropped them off and picked up a short time later the same day. Next trip will be from my scissor drawer. read more

Such a fair price and a great experience overall. I will be sure to tell all of my friends if they need knife sharpening to go here. read more

We expected to find a store.. but it is a home business, behind a little black door. I brought 7 knives, and my friend brought three. Mike told us it would take an hour, and directed us to a lovely neighborhood coffee shop across the street. About 40 minutes later, very kindly he came over with the knives. I just tried one, and it is perfect. Wonderful.. read more
