It was cool to be in a preview movie, especially when it is your first time in Sydney's cinema! Even better when it is for free! The movie it all was good and held my attention. It is a dramatic fight for a life . read more
SHAAAARRRRRRKKKKKKK!!!! Jaws was released before I was born, so The Shallows is my first Shark movie that i've seen on the big screen. Blake Lively, together with "Steven" Seagull puts on a great show, with a heart-stopping 90 minutes of nail biting action. read more
Well I didn't expect much from this movie, I was planning on a 90 minute nap in the dark - damn you Blake Lively and your good acting and hot body!!! The Shallows is not scary, but it is suspenseful and has a few 'jump in your seat' moments. There's not much to say about the story - girl meets shark, shark bites, girl, girl outwits shark. Many thanks to Ben B. (shark boy) and the Yelp crew for a great event, really appreciate the effort you guys put into sucking up to us :) read more
How can one ever say no to a freebie moofie? Especially when it involves huge sharks in the water and the promise of squeals and possibly a few jumps? So with that in mind, we trundled off for a night at the movies courtesy of Yelp. Suffice to say that the movie didn't disappoint. There was some screams (from other's around the cinema), there was a lot of jumps and asking why one would peddle the other way when you know it's nearly sunset and the time for sharkies to look for munchies. But then we realised that there wouldn't be much of a movie if it was logical! I did find it a bit porny at the beginning, lots of shots of her in her bikini on the board splashing in the surf. But then I guess it was a surf movie after all, and sex sells no? At any rate, thank you Yelp for a night out at the movies. We did enjoy the movie, even if the poor sharkie died at the end. There was much hiding behind my partner's hand and silent screams of, no no don't do that! read more
As a Yelp event, awesome as always. Yelp staff are cheerful, helpful, and the swag is always such a nice touch! They're accommodating and informative and always set an upbeat vibe. As a movie theatre, the seats and floor were covered in popcorn, drinks, and other trash when we arrived about 30min before the movie and no effort by movie staff was made to clean it up. I literally had to remove drinks and wipe off the seat to sit down. The size of the screen and comfort of the chairs were nice enough though some seats had black stains on them and it was a bit cramped forwards and backwards (kind of felt like airplane spacing). As a movie, fairly predictable but as an easy scaredy cat had enough jump-at-you surprise moments to keep me on my toes. The girl is hot and I'm inspired to find her earrings online. Feminist in me felt a sense of girl power at the end. Wouldn't want to watch again and it's true that the majority of the movie is given away in the trailer. read more
Thanks for the preview screening and free movie on a school night. Loved getting out to the city and enjoying a movie before everyone else has. It's getting 5 for the event, good to meet up with fellow Yelpers. I don't know what I'd give the actual film as I was so grossed out by the all the blood and pretty scared the whole time. Doesn't make it easier to be encouraged to go in the ocean and learn to surf haha! But on the edge of my seat and closing my eyes half the time! Thanks again to Yelp for organising read more

Exciting night out. The shallows is different from jaws, as it really captures the tenseness on barebone human survival. I could really feel all the pain and was grimacing constantly. It is a movie that was enjoyable. read more
