I asked for several boots in my size and they kept telling me that they didn't have anything under a size 12. I found several on the shelf in my size, and finally a young fellow came over and said he could look in the back. He found me the matching boot for two pair, which I purchased. The price was about $100 more than I would have expected for the quality, but I know times for tough, and paid anyways to support this small business. The boots have served me well so far. If you have the time, money and the patience, you'll enjoy shopping at Rugged Trade. If you need to get something quick and you don't mind waiting overnight, Amazon will give you a better price.

Melrose reminds me of a discount clothing store much like Ross Dress for Less which coincidentally is also right next door. That being said, while I find cute items I personally have to try everything on and am so glad I did. One of the flowery blouses that I grabbed was a bit lopsided and not in a fashionable way. It looked like a quick sewing job. My girls spent quite a bit of time shopping and trying on clothes. I'm so proud they are picking out stuff they like nowadays. Pre-teens! Devynn, our cashier, was a super sweet young lady. She encouraged me to join the rewards program for free. I'm definitely a fan of the low prices, but check your items to ensure quality and a good fit.

She didn't even acknowledge me, although she clearly saw me. Two other young ladies were working there as well. None asked, "May I help you?" None offered a smile. I asked to try on a shirt and was accommodated. I think being welcoming and friendly is a necessity in running a business, and in brightening the world. Was not welcomed or said hi to when we first entered. That was a red flag. My youngest really wanted the new Valentine Converses, but her and I butted heads about it because she wanted to go up two sizes because her true size wasn't "comfortable"... then the next size up wasn't comfortable either. I reminded her that Converses are cool but they aren't exactly comfortable plus they take a while to break in. My youngest has done this before with shoes... tried a pair of new shoes on that I suspected was slightly too long and said they felt fine and then when she actually wore them for a day, they slipped and gave her sores. To clarify, both of my children currently have the same size feet, so I had the oldest also try the same pair on and give me her opinion of how they felt. While all of this was going on, the staff members acted very strangely around us. They were friendly, but suspicious. The taller & heavier-set lady followed me everywhere at first & watched me like a hawk. It was so uncomfortable. The staff didn't do anything to assist with the measuring of my daughter's foot, or ask her questions and remind her that breaking in shoes takes a while. Guess they didn't need any sales that day. Not many sizes available in the boots section for women. Store was grungy and had worn-out benches for trying on shoes. I was fine walking out with no purchase because of all of the above complaints, but especially the lack of customer service.
