NOT EVEN ONE STAR! My attorney was Jeff Miles. I paid his…read more$2500 retainer for him to get me a court date to establish petition of paternity (which was already taken care of), child support, and visitation. I thought retaining an attorney would expedite getting a court date, because my ex was withholding my son from me out of spite, because I wouldn't spend time with her. But there was no expediting of the court date, AT ALL! Jeff Miles put the court date on the docket later (convenient to his personal life) so he could go on vacation and once he was back from vacation, he went to a Guns and Roses concert! So, the whole time he's going on vacation and to concerts, I am not seeing my son! It took four months to get on the docket! But the worst has yet to come! Not only did he put my case on the docket four months later to accommodate his personal life. He sent me an additional bill of $1187.50, and nothing had been accomplished with the $2500 retainer. His bills weren't even itemized! They simply said,"for services rendered." So, I wrote a letter asking for an itemized bill of the retainer and the new bill. Also, terminating him in the same letter. I terminated him under the advice of another attorney who told me that since there have been no results and a habit of putting off my case for his personal life and personal vacations that I felt like I was affording for him to have fun, take vacation, and go to concerts. Not to mention his total lack of consideration of my, his clients, problems. Keep in mind this whole time, ( a period of 4 months), I'm not seeing my child, even though I'm still paying my exes rent, utility bills, and her personal bills, along with groceries, diapers, wipes, MAKEUP!!!, etc. But in my termination letter I explained that there had been no progression in my case and the court date was constantly being moved back. But it seemed like when I mentioned the new bill of $1187.50, his tone changed (In his responding letter). He got caught with his hand in the cookie jar! He cut the bill in half! Basically, admitting he was billing for work and hours he did not do or spend on my case. He said that "the billing agent," (not him) must have not received his note about reducing the bill by half because I had credit still left from my retainer. So in summation, he thought I had money, and I would pay and pay and pay until he could afford another vacation. I guess he assumed that I wouldn't keep up with the amount of time he spent on my case. So he's a con artist and I have no respect for the man, since he's fine with attempting to rip off a working man that only wants to pay child support and get visitation. Which is odd in this state! Most fathers in this state avoid paying child support, having visitation with THEIR child, or even assuming the responsibility of having a child. But this father is the petitioner, which means: I signed up to pay child support, and most importantly, this father wants as much time with his son as humanly possible. But Jeff Miles is a horrible lawyer and anyone that retains him better be ready to accept that his vacations and concerts are WAY WAY WAY more important than your case! Plus he has no qualms with overcharging, and charging for work he did not do. He even charges for research! Which is not something you can charge for! You're not responsible for paying to further his education. AGAIN, DO NOT RETAIN THIS "ATTORNEY!" I refer to him as a con man.
