a popular choice with locals and ramblers(the pentland hills are a stones throw away) this pub has a traditional menu and daily specials too, the usual ale selections, speckled hen, deuchars etc.
friendly staff and they do show the footballl on the big screen so it can get a bit rowdy..kids are welcome in the restaurant, the outdoor area leaves a lot to be desired as its basically just a couple of picnic tables in the car parkthey do have a heated smokers hut type thing though so you won't freeze your bits off if you need the nicotine fix..
my only gripe is that sometimes, i think it depends on who's in the kitchen, they stop serving food before the advertised time, which incidently is 8pm.
there are a handful of rooms available, mostly populated by travelling workers and families of people who are getting married in the area, cheap and cheerful, and half an hour into town on the frequent bus service, you could do a lot worse if you were planning a visit read more
