What can I say about the King's Arms? I'm at home here. When we moved to the UK, honestly our most…read moredesired feature was walking distance to a pub. We got stumbling distance to one of the best pubs in the country. This place is well-regarded by everyone in the region. I've met people here who give up walking distance to their local to drive here and have a good time. That says something. My first night here I made friends, and each time I've been here since I find myself in good company either with neighbors we've met before, or people who know we're new to the area and want to welcome us. I can't begin to tell you how often a quick pint before dinner turns into a long session at King's Arms. I wouldn't have it any other way. These guys truly embrace the concept of being the center of village activity. No TVs, no WiFi, these things distract from the community. You come here to interact with your friends and neighbors, enjoy a good beer, and enjoy living in the company of others. They regularly have events to bring the village out. The most impressive of which was the dinner they hosted on the night of the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. They served the exact 10-course menu served in first class that evening, and requested everyone bust out their tuxedos and dresses to mark the occasion in grand fashion. It was a remarkable evening. One disappointment, since I have to list one to feel as though I am being fair, is the wine list. We love the temperanillo, but really none of the others. But we're not here to drink wine, we're here to be social! It makes me a little sad that we don't have this type of drinking culture in the US. If you're not an alcoholic, you're not likely be on a first-name basis with the bartenders at a local watering hole. That's why I love walking in here; everyone knows everyone else, they're always happy to see you, they know what you drink, they pour a tasty pint, and are genuinely good people. I dig it.

The Rivermill's menu offers a great selection of essential British food and a few foreign favourites all presented in an attractive and appetising style. Try the hamburgers here, they are extraordinary! Additionally, the Rivermill boasts one of the best selection of beers in the area. From local guest ales, a good selection of staple real ales and lagers, to imports including Erdinger on draft, this pub will not disappoint any beer drinker. It is also a great venue for live music, with local talent appearing several nights every week, including Tuesdays open mic night when everyone is welcome to have a go. Highly recommended by myself and a motley crew of artists from St Neots, don't miss the Rivermill, a great British pub.

I can heartily recommend the beef burgers they serve there. The only things that stop it from getting five stars is that the staff could perhaps be friendlier and the food could maybe be prepared quicker, but it is always worth the wait, both in terms of quality and quantity. Nine out of ten for this pub and very much recommended. If anything, I probably go there a bit too often, it is that good!

I rarely leave reviews, unless there is an exceptional reason to do so, be that good or bad…read more We recently visited as a group of nine thinking food etc. would be decent as relatively expensive for pub food. Unfortunately, the worst food and service I have experienced for many years, to the extent that I would imagine anywhere else, and I mean anywhere else would not be as bad as the Kings Arms. Without going into long-winded detail, expect low budget food, cooked poorly. The roast was truly awful, unless you like microwaved chicken, shoe leather beef and a block of fat pork, complemented by reheated potatoes and Yorkshire. All the meals were in the same vein, either reheated or kept warm.. dried out etc. Combine this with terrible service. There seemed to be plenty of staff about, but we were constantly waiting or asking twice for items, at one point we literally had not one drop of drink in anyone's glasses at all during the meal. The cherry on the cake was visiting the disgusting toilet, loo roll on the floor and pubic hair in the sink. I have been in contact with the manager who is aware of the issues and has said that they will be addressed. I cannot imagine this will be in the short term as there is very little that does not need changing. I have politely declined a partial refund, as much more important to me that other people do not suffer the same experience. One to avoid if looking at options. Wish we had.
