We booked a room for 8 and ended up with 12. They were accommodating and got us into a second room. That's the only positive. We do many escape rooms and this one was terrible. The only worker present stayed on the radio telling us our next steps and giving unsolicited clues. The props were terrible and only about a third of them worked. We were done in about 30 minutes. Way too easy. The monitor with the clock didn't work. The employee entered our room to show us stuff several times during the experience. Terrible. When we escaped, we took a photo with our group, that included several 14 and 15 year old girls. To get us to smile, the worker told us to say "penis" and said it's a word that's proven to make everyone smile. Super inappropriate. read more

The Good: I called around the various escape rooms in Tulsa looking for a place to go for my 8 year old son who requested a room for his birthday. It would be him, my 11 year old, wife, and I. The adults had some escape room experience, the kids none and I knew that 8 was pushing the lower limits so I wanted to find a place that was comfortable that an 8 year old would be able to participate meaningfully in a room. Most places were helpful on the phone and tried to set realistic expectations. The SafeHouse seemed to do the same very friendly and informed, and the price of $25/person (they weren't even going to charge for the 8 year old - maybe that should have been a sign?) was fair and reasonable. They ensured me that two of their rooms would be appropriate based upon my concerns and so we picked what was advertised on their site as this: "Christmas Quarantine: Santa has been quarantined due to covid. The elves have been working overtime to deliver presents. There have been some mishaps along the way. Hopefully you and your friends can sneak in and get things fixed." The Bad: First, we signed up for a slot on the afternoon of New Year's Eve. They didn't call me back until late the following day telling me that they were actually closed the day we booked, despite showing availability to book on their site. It wasn't a huge inconvenience, but the fact that their booking site doesn't work AND it took them until the end of the next working day to actually reach out for a booking the following day seemed a little lazy. When we arrived at the facility after rebooking our appointment for the following weekend. We must have been the first session that day as when we walked in no one was there, not even at the front desk. We hung out in the waiting room for about 5-8 minutes until someone came and just prompted us toward a room. Not that it mattered to me, but they didn't even ask my name or check for our registration - I guess they were expecting us and had very few other bookings. As we walked to the far end of the hallway it looked like they were doing construction on another room and it was possible another room was occupied (as we would somewhat be told later). We entered the room and was given a very quick explanation of the computer sitting on a desk that showed a timer (don't touch!) and the walkie talkie we were meant to use to ask for hints. That's it. No introduction about how rooms work, if we'd done one before, no explanation of what the scenario was....nothing. Finally we were asked if we wanted a starting hint and I was a bit confused and asked "Well, like what is the story? What are we supposed to be doing here, etc?" The response was very generic one about simply "escaping" and so I kind of shrugged at my wife and then said we would take a starting hint because we had no idea where we should begin. The room was sparsely populated, almost one entire wall was taken up by a X-mas photo-op we were told had absolutely not bearing on the game. The rest of the setup was very shoddily put together. Taped on clues that fell off when we opened chests, ornaments that were integral to clues fell off from their spots when trying to count them under the wreaths, making it difficult to track, and just generally repetitive, artificially hard puzzles made even more so by their presentation. Every single thing was a lock, combination, letter, or key, and both my wife and I had issues with two different locks despite having the correct codes in. It was clear that this room, despite having a "Christmas" theme had absolutely nothing to do with the description on their site about a "COVID Quarantine" and elves, etc. When I examined the email more closely it stated "Christmas Scavenger Hunt" which maybe was more apt (since that is such a generic term), but clearly wasn't what was advertised, nor what was discussed when I spoke to them on the phone. Everything was made leagues worse when about 20-30 minutes into the hour all the overhead lights went off, leaving the room significantly dimmed and lit only by various lamps through the room. We used the talkie to let them know about this and were told they needed to kill the lights because another room required it, and that ours should still be suitably lit with the lamps! I don't have the best vision anymore, and poor lighting makes it infinitely worse. I basically had to resign myself to no longer participating about 5 minutes after this happened. Had I known going into this room that level of lighting is what was going to be offered, I would have declined our session and looked for an alternative. I'm not an escape expert. I have done 3 others (completed). I do however really enjoy escape type games on my phone, word play (crosswords, etc) and complete these regularly without resorting to hints in most cases. We didn't even finish half this room and that was with using all our clues. Yelp won't let me right anymore - but you get the idea! read more

This is my third escape house I've been to, but the first time at Safehouse. In my opinion, it is certainly not worth $20 Per Person. I think $80 for 40 minutes in a room is a bit excessive for just four of us. We did the Homicide room and it was fun, but a little disappointing compared to other Escape pleases I've been. It's supposed to be a medium difficulty room but the way it's set up it's like one step to another and we were out in 40 minutes flat. There wasn't a lot of places to look or objects to go through so that was different. I probably wouldn't book another room here but if this is your first experience it might meet your expectations! It is a GOOD place for entertainment or for a date. The staff is exceptionally friendly and they were great at working around schedules to find us a time to get in. But I think they should rethink their pricing or add more to their rooms to make the experience worth the money. read more

I came back with a different group of people, and we upped the ante by doing the medium room, Homicide. Like before, we all signed a waiver and watched a brief video laying out the story and rules of the room before going in. There are no spoilers for the room, but I have to say that this room had a lot more red herrings than Abandoned did. Abandoned was more linear with the clues, but you could approach Homicide from a lot of different ways and still solve the puzzle. Also, Homicide's backstory ending is neater than Abandoned's. I wasn't left with the feeling of, "Wait, what happened?" like I had at the end of Abandoned. Right now, I have the hardest room, Crypt, left to tackle, but the owner of Safehouse said he's working on a new, harder room that's going to take 2 hours to solve. Get ready, fellow puzzle sleuths, because it's about to go down! read more

Escape rooms are apparently all the rage in Tulsa now. This one is located in a building with several other business (look at the previous Yelper's picture of the business to save yourself a lot of confusion looking for this place). My friends and I did the "Homicide" room (and were part of the 25% of participants that actually got out. What what!). When you first enter, you have to watch a video (that didn't really help) before you were locked in your actual room. Clues to this room were harder than another escape room I've gone to in Vegas - you have to think pretty outside the box and not all the clues went well together, which was annoying. Prices to come here without the Living Social deal are pretty ridiculous ($20/person), in my opinion. Look for coupons. A pro = you can book your room on-line. read more

Love that puzzles are becoming cool outings for adults again! Having lived in a major city for a few years, there were a lot of safe room/escape room options and I'm so happy that this has come to Tulsa. We had a group of 4 for my husbands birthday out too SafeHouse and we all had a great time! The staff are super friendly and do a good job explaining the room before your time begins. The videos at the beginning are a little cheesy, but a cool kickoff to the room. We did the murder room and were able to get out in 30-some odd minutes, so not a record but certainly nothing to turn your nose up at. I honestly liked that the clues, when you finally found them, were fairly straightforward--there is nothing more frustrating to me than to know I'm looking right at the answer and being unable to solve the unnecessarily complicated step. This would be great for any family, friend or work group looking for team building and fun. read more

Amateurish - redundant clues, lame props, difficulty rating more likely due to odd or illogical problems. This was the third venue we tried in Tulsa, having so thoroughly enjoyed all the others we'd tried. This was an utter disappointment, which we should have expected after seeing all the obvious copyright infringement on their room promotional posters and the painfully cheesy into video. We asked for the answer at the end so we could understand what we missed, and it was just really silly, not hard or complex, it was stupid. Choose ANY other place, and you'll have a good time. More details (no spoilers...except that it sucks, sorry): 1. Amateurish: Immediately upon entering the room, their "hardest" room, it looks like some kids put it together. There were suits stuffed with pillows who were supposed to be people in attendance at a funeral. This is very odd for an escape room, there are not normally "people" present, and it makes for some odd clue-hunting. 2. failed props: The all-important suitcase wouldn't unlock. Apparently we slid the unlocking lever the wrong direction and that reset the combination...oh THAT'S why it looks like the case has been opened with a crowbar! In the end, you need to call on a walkie-talkie the code you found... we were told they aren't allowed to have a keypad lock because it is fire hazard to lock us in...right...but, all the other escape rooms in town have keypads, so... 3. illogical clues: can't say much without giving it away, but if you get the number of pictures right, it was probably because you didn't find one... the logic behind why one of them doesn't count is just stupid. we had a team of 4 scientists and we were staring at this woman trying to explain to us why this thing was the answer, it was mind-numbing. read more

We did homicide. I feel a little bad giving it a terrible rating, but honestly, I've never been capital B Bored during an escape room challenge before. We've done escape rooms with success rates ranging from 10% to 40% and at times they've been frustrating, but always engaging and adrenaline-inducing. We've always made it out, including this time, but this is the first time we've gotten out and then stayed in the room going, "wait, what? We didn't solve it...how do we have the code to get out?" We had answers to "clues" without ever having to do anything...which we then "found" again when we opened another lock. There was mention of something that would be there to keep you focused , which wasn't there: confusing. The door code was literally read to you...like "this is the code..." not even disguised or in code or riddle, just spelled out. I felt like you didn't need to be clever at all or even creative, just had to follow some directions. It was more cook book and way less detective than anything we've done, and it wasn't our thing at all. Apparently some people get out by accidentally bumping things. The video said you needed to gather evidence to put the killer away...nope, not really. Would have been a cool challenge to the story, though; but I feel like they got lazy and just didn't follow through on this and other things. If you see escape times of 11 minutes on a medium difficulty room, you should probably just save your money. If the staff warns you not to spend more than 5 seconds on any clue, then don't expect the room to be challenging. And if you get out of a room like that, prepare to feel like you've been roofied by a cheap trick and woken up to one of your kidneys missing. Not at all the adventure or "high" I was looking for. Don't people go to escape rooms to be challenged? I feel like people are going to know deep down when you've created a participation ribbon activity and labeled it as a medium difficulty escape room--at least those that were confused enough to make it out of this room. The story had great potential, but I think lackluster execution. I'd like to try the other rooms to see if this one was just an anomaly, but I'm too afraid to waste my money. read more

This was my first time doing an escape room scenario, and it didn't disappoint! I went with a group of my sorority sisters as a team bonding activity. When we pulled up, we were kind of put off by the location and atmosphere - it's located in an older building with a lot of other small businesses, which seemed kind of weird given what this business is, but we went with it. We went in, and the staff was friendly and helpful - they were really funny and easy to talk to. For the event itself, we did the Abandoned Room (the easiest one). We did it with 9 people, which is a pretty large group for something like this, but it was still really entertaining and definitely did the job as far as team bonding. Overall, my primary complaints would be the location as well as the price. $20 a person is steep for something that will take, at most, an hour to complete. However, as far as the challenge itself, it is definitely very thoughtfully put-together and serves as great team bonding. I would recommend it again for sure, especially if they had some sort of promo going on. read more

The Safehouse escape rooms were enjoyable mostly just to having the experience with friends. We did Asylum with Safehouse on 3/14/2021. During our escape we had multiple complaints. The largest being that we were informed that there would be black tape marking things we were not to pick up or touch (as they were not a piece of the puzzle) but after removing several picture frames (untaped, and per the rules for the company it was essentially fair game as they explained that pictures and other wall objects could be removed and replaced on the wall without any issues) we were informed that we were not supposed to remove a single thing off the walls. The instructions were not always clear, not to mention the room didn't fit the theme, rather than being an insane asylum like we wanted, we got a presidential theme that really barely made you feel like you were in what was once a mental hospital. It was not a very involving room and was more frustrating than a fun puzzle. The woman who was our game master was off putting and had a bad tone when we were asking for clues, and some of the puzzles wouldn't work correctly. Overall it isn't something I would plan on doing here again. read more

This was my first escape room experience and we totally loved it! Such a fun thing to do with family and/or friends. We celebrated my Dad's 58th birthday here. He and my mom enjoyed it just as much as the millennials in the group. We got out with 2 min to spare in a room with a 30% success rate so we were happy about that. The ticket price is kind of high at $20/person but I did notice a Groupon for weeknight that would save you some $$$. I think areas for improvement would be general decor...it was all pretty dated and kind of felt a little dirty in the room we were in and the whole place is a little stinky . The staff was so great though and didn't mind that we had our kids with us, since we were all going to dinner after. I will absolutely go back and recommend them. read more

This escape room has a lot of potential, but it seems poorly managed. One lock was already open, but we didn't really know that this wasn't supposed to be so (thus we were unaware that a puzzle we were later in the midst of solving was useless). Another lock simply didn't open, even though we absolutely put in the correct code. While this happens occasionally with other escape rooms, they usually have someone on hand to verify that your code either works or doesn't - not so in this case. We wasted about ten minutes on this code, and ironically, through a flaw in the puzzles, were able to eventually progress without solving it. The quality of the room's decorations is so-so (minus the pillow-mannequins), and the puzzles are fairly run of the mill. To their credit, the people who ran the escape room were very polite and very generous in giving us extra time to escape the room. Also, we didn't know this until later, but the other escape rooms combine with the one we did to form a larger story, and that seems pretty cool. read more

We are a family of four and did this as a fun, family, Father's Day activity. We had a great time. It's perfect for people who enjoy solving mysteries and puzzles. Since there are two rooms that are identical, if your group is a little larger, you can divide in half, and compete with each other to see who escapes first. Scheduled a rental of 2 rooms via online website for a teen girls softball team in town for a tournament. The team arrived to find out the reservation was not in the system (yikes!) - after a few minutes of double-checking that they were at the right place, and the staff getting creative, they were able to get two rooms on a busy evening. The girls had a blast and it was a good teambuilder all around. I want to give this 3 or 4 stars because of the mishap with the reservations, however, the fact that the staff jumped into action to make it work earned those stars back. We celebrated a birthday party here and reserved 2 rooms and did guys against girls. Our group ranged from 40-50 year olds and we had a blast! 6 in each roWe all escaped at the wire which made it so fun! I recommend Asylum vs Cabin they are next to each other and you can hear each other cheering as you get the next clue which makes it fun competition. We had only an 11 sec difference between escaping the two rooms. So pretty equal in difficulty probably. You will use all 3 hints so don't lose that walkie talkie. ;). Everyone can't wait to do it again. They have several rooms and challenges to chose from. Highly recommend!! read more

This review isn't quite about the difficulty of the puzzle, but rather the presentation of the company. To start, when we arrived, we told the man at the desk that we were here to check in. In response, he sarcastically answered us if it was for our hair appointment, or a massage, or what else we wanted. It then became apparently clear that he, as well as the other employee, were high as a damn kite. Seriously, it was like they had a bowl stashed underneath the desk kind of obvious. This continued as we were led to our escape room. One of the clues we were supposed to find was simply laying on the floor, and the woman very clearly put it back underneath where we were supposed to find it. Later on, 15 minutes into our puzzle solving, the first gentleman came back into the room, and gave us a clue that they had neglected to include when we were presented with the puzzle room. Still though, after all their bungling, we were able to clear a room with a 40% clearance rate in less than half the time allotted. Afterwards, as we were celebrating our apparently impressive time for completion of the puzzle, the bearded and blazed gentleman just shouted "picture!" at us, until we gathered in front of their backdrop for a group picture. Overall, the experience was fun, one of the many clues was challenging, and the presentation/service was vastly lacking. Would certainly recommend The Escape to anyone that asked, over The Safehouse. read more

It was a lot of fun and the room was very well done, and the staff was very polite. Only small thing I would suggest is giving more of a back story as to why you are in the room. Maybe an intro video on the Tv in the room. Just for immersion sake. But the price was great and the puzzles were fun and challenging. Will be back! read more

My 14 year old daughter and I wanted something a little different to do for a mother-daughter outing, and we are so glad we stumbled across The SafeHouse. We tried the Abandoned room and were so close to getting out, but we still had a lot of fun. I'm a huge mystery buff, but my daughter is just getting in to the mystery genre, so I wasn't sure how we would do or if she'd have fun. Three months later we're still thinking about it and talking about it, and we can't wait to go back with more friends. I know the price seems a little steep to some (although it's on par with the other escape rooms in town), but I can guarantee that you will remember this experience a lot longer than a movie you could go to where you'd pay almost as much. This was a great bonding experience, totally unlike anything we've ever done. We've talked to several friends about the escape room concept, and a lot of people are concerned about feeling claustrophobic in a locked room. To me, this felt like going in your office and closing the door. You're so engaged in solving the puzzle that you don't feel trapped, and there are walkie talkies in case panic sets in and you need to be let out early, but honestly I think it's no big deal. read more

Doing a "room" has become a yearly birthday thing. I thought the facility was clean, easy to get to and fun. Only complaint would be that our walkie talkie was not answered very promptly but it was a first day situation!!! We shall be back to a mystery room "somewhere" next year!!! read more

This was our first escape rooms, I say rooms b/c after we did the first one we immediately tried another one, I loved the Murder mystery one and the Crypt. We really didn't care for 'Abandoned'. It was a bit sloppy and confusing, as some of the clues were worn off and hard to see. But we still enjoyed ourselves and will continue to go back. We have now been to 3 other ones also!!! read more

We had a blast! My husband and I and our two younger sons did the Homicide Room. It was our first time attempting an escape room, so we didn't solve the mystery in time. However, we had a lot of fun trying! Staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely worth every penny. We are looking forward to trying another room. read more

This was our first experience ever in attempting this and we were excited. There was very little excitement with the staff when arriving. When we finally got towards the end of solving things, we were stuck with a last task. We attempted the task with all possibilities it could be and nothing. Finally with 3 minutes left of brainstorming, the staff came in to offer any help as time was almost over. They realized that the object left for us was incorrect and it should have been another object left. They left us with the WRONG object for our last step so we would have never finished had the staff not come in to correct that. We finished with seconds left after staff found this out but with zero excitement because we were more frustrated that it ended like that. There was no congratulations props to go with the back drop to take after completing the crime scene. I wish we could've been gifted another room at least for their mistake. read more
