First: let me start by saying that although this venue is wonderful, what you're really paying for is Jan, the owner and operator, who is completely amazing. She does so much work that the venue normally wouldn't do. She really takes away a lot of the stress of planning a wedding ceremony and reception and makes sure your day runs smoothly. The best value that Jan provides is accessibility and flexibility. If you send a question, she gets back to you right away. She's flexible in changing plans as well. She works with you beforehand and day of to make sure everything happens on time. She's constantly scanning the room making sure everything's going smoothly. In addition, she provides additional services like providing drinks service and serving the cake. The chapel itself is lovely. The main room is beautiful and has great acoustics. Jan has her own decorations that you can use, but you can also bring your own. In addition, there is ample (separate) rooms for the bride and groom to get ready and a small kitchen where drinks and cakes can be prepared. Make no mistake, this is a modest space. It's beautiful, but it's not immaculate. It has a "country church" feel, which was perfect for us. If you plan on having your ceremony and reception here, plan on keeping your guest list under 50. We did that and had a great time. It was exactly what we were looking for for our modest but nice wedding. We'd highly recommend the Ruston Chapel both for the space and for the service you'll receive. Thanks to Jan, our day was exactly what we wanted. read more

When we contacted Debbie at the Ruston Chapel about hosting the memorial service of a close family member, she extended an unexpected level of warmth, empathy, and kindness toward me and my family. She handled every detail while we were in a fog. I simply can't thank her or recommend working with her enough. read more

Debbie and her team are so awesome. With one day notice (long story) they made our daughter's wedding a success. Debbie is so sweet and I am so thankful we found her to help us. The Ruston Chapel is so quaint and a perfect destination for a smaller wedding venue. We have gotten so many compliments on the wedding. Thank you Debbie and team for making Amari and Jayden's wedding memorable and a success in less than a day of preparation. They went above and beyond. You're the best! read more

Ruston Chapel was AMAZING! If you're looking for a low to no stress wedding day venue for a small wedding...look no further Ruston Chapel is the place for you! The owner, Debbie, was so accommodating and provided an all inclusive wedding experience at a reasonable price. She totally nailed our decoration vision my now newly husband and I had for our special day. Debbie was our officiant, too. She did a wonderful job with our ceremony. In addition, Debbie and another staff member, Olivia provided a beautiful cake reception. Olivia was so helpful with fixing my train on my dress since we had a micro wedding with no wedding party. We had a manificent weddind day! All our guest and vendors gave so many compliments. I highly reccommend The Ruston Chapel! read more

Debbie did a fantastic job working with my new husband and myself on making our wedding day so special. Amongst the covid conflict she really went above and beyond to help us have exactly what we wanted after having to reschedule from May 2020 to August 2020. Everything was ABSOLUTELY beautiful and we are so happy we had her officiate after cancelling with our original person to help with head count. It was a perfect day. read more

I am so excited about this place!!! We will be getting married August 4th, 2013 and I can't wait!!! The outside scares you a little because it looks so small. But what the owner has done, and how she sets everything up, really makes it seem so much bigger. I will update my review once we actually get married but this has been our experience so far... The inside is beautiful. The wood flooring is new and just so pretty. The bridal dressing room is perfect and really big. The grooms "room" is small but the room really isn't necessary since the groom usually comes in his tux already unlike the bride who actually has to Change into her dress there. Marquel (I might have spelled that wrong) the owner is the BEST!! She is so sweet, so laid back. She gives a military and public service (like fire fighter and police) discount of 10%. She has always replied back to my emails within hours and my phone calls even quicker. She's helpful and has everything there. She has the tables the chairs. She has the table linen and the chair linens. Napkins, table runners, center pieces, the dinnerware, the silverware cups glasses. She even has the traditional wedding music. She just makes this really easy. I just couldn't be happier with her!!! I was a little worried about the posed photos because the chapel doesn't really have a lot of opportunities or places outside for them. But once I saw point defiance park my worries of that went away!!! It's literally less than two blocks from the park that has a rosé garden, a lake, bridges, a Japanese garden, the ocean, the zoo, the aquarium, the awesome moss covered WA trees... It's seriously a wedding photographers dream!!! So many opportunities!! I will be sharing the photos and experience with you all in August!!! read more

The Ruston Chapel - My wedding day was amazing thanks to the Ruston Chapel !!! - Venues & Event Spaces Near Me - Ruston, Washington

We attended our son's wedding here, and they were AMAZING! Especially since getting married on short notice during a pandemic is problematic. They were incredibly helpful, from the rehearsal a the way through the reception. Every single detail they had covered, and the day went so smoothly as a result. The chapel is romantic and charming in every way! read more

My husband and I met Jan with less than 45 days until our pending nuptials. Jan was fantastic! We had a small and intimate wedding of 40 people or so. She walked us through every detail- leaving nothing out! She helped us find other vendors, including a officiant with less than a week to spare! I highly recommend this chapel to anyone who wants a charming, high quality, classy wedding! read more

The care given to the bride and groom was incredible. I am the mother of the bride and am so thankful for the attention to detail from the staff. Debbie and the other staff were so professional and dedicated to making our experience perfect. I highly recommend this venue. It is quaint and historic but mostly has a caring staff that really want you to have the best experience! read more

Our daughter got engaged and wanted to get married right away (less than 8 weeks later). After some searching we discovered this little gem of a chapel. The price was very affordable and they had an opening when we needed it. Deborah, the owner, was so helpful and really helped us make our daughter's special day especially magical. She really went beyond all of our expectations. For a small, intimate wedding, this is the ideal venue. read more

We had a wonderful wedding here! We planned our wedding in 2 weeks, and Debra(the owner) and her staff did a FABULOUS job! They were so accommodating and welcoming. We had an intimate wedding with 40 guests. Debra took care of all the details! She did the catering (food was delicious), her and her staff took care of all the flower arrangements, and she did a great job as our officiant. Her prices are so reasonable and we were beyond impressed with everything they offered. She was also able to connect us with her daughter who makes cakes (it was delicious and beautiful- just what I asked for) so we had everything arranged in one stop. read more

We had a beautifully intimate wedding at The Ruston Chapel on 12/27/2018 which we will remember for the rest of our life. We want to thank Debbie (the owner/manager) who was so helpful at the last moment when we didn't know what to do next. If you are looking for a cosy wedding venue this is the place to know....its small a glamourous and cosy venue and Debbie will come in handy with support when needed. Carl & Christine read more

My husband and I wanted a small ceremony for a few friends and family. We had around 30 people. It was the perfect size and it was a very adorable location close to Point Defiance. I had a dessert reception in the main hall. I would recommend this location for anyone who wants a small intimate wedding. read more

This is a review about a wedding that didn't take place at The Ruston Chapel, but it wasn't because we didn't receive the most gracious and capable service one could hope for at a difficult time, as wedding planning can become. Our wedding was cancelled just a week before it was scheduled when US Customs cancelled my fiancee's visa - without cause. But that isn't the story for this page. Our planning was complete. Colors, food, music, flowers, ceremony, pictures... everything was left in the most capable hands of Debra N. We had the most scrumptious meal by her recommended caterer and the price for the entire package was absolutely affordable. God does work in mysterious ways, and our marriage took place in Canada last month, but I cannot help but recommend The Ruston Chapel to you if you are looking for competent and caring service for a wedding day that will be memorable. Love does count. Doesn't it? And that is what we received from Deb at The Ruston Chapel. read more

I was married here December 10th 2016. I first met with the owner Jan with only two months to plan. With everything she had to offer, I really just had to relax and wait for the day! The decor of the chapel is so beautiful that you don't really need to do the little things. She covered linens, chairs, table centerpieces, music, plates/silverware, and a beautiful secluded room just for the bride. She also was able to step in and make sure we knew what to do! She greeted guests, checked on me, cleared and cleaned through out the evening and made sure the caterer and photographer were all dialed in. She ever made sure my guests drinks were topped off. These are things she "just does" that you wouldn't expect. My mother reviewed also and wasn't pleased but it was my day and it was perfect. My husband and my guests were also pleased and that's really all that matters. read more

My son and his new wife had their wedding at the Ruston Chapel yesterday and it was so wonderful! I simply cannot say enough good things about this Wedding Venue! They met with them in January and they fell in love with the little chapel. It holds up to 70 people and the ladies that run it are very accommodating to your needs! The bride/bridesmaid area is decorated so cute and is filled with everything you would need to prepare for your wedding. We needed a safety pin and it was right there. We had 3 boutonnieres break and they fixed them right away. Our florist didn't supply a corsage we ordered, they made one for us! We needed an ordained minister, they were able to do it. No matter what we needed, they did it and with smiles on their faces. I simply cannot say enough good things about this little chapel! Every time I would contact them, they would reply within a couple of days and always were very helpful. If you want to have a small wedding with up to 70 people, I highly recommend this venue! read more

My review of my not so great experience was deleted. It is a nice place if you can lower your standards and if you don't mind being yelled at by the assistant on you're wedding day. Also, they have AC but make sure you ask them to turn it on. I failed to ask and my wedding night was about 80 degrees, guests had to go stand outside for the majority of our event because it was too hot inside. read more

Never again @ this chapel for any event! Every business that "Jan" recommended for my daughter's wedding were incompetent with their catering and the cake was god awful. Now for the review on the chapel. The chapel it 'self was nice in a North-End vintage setting complete with space heater for warmth. The coordinator Jan was nosey, condescending to the children parents in attendance and to me. I do not recommend this overpriced chapel for events read more

This was the most AMAZING place, I had my wedding there and the ladies were absolutely wonderful. They made things look beyond beautiful for my husband and I's wedding, the flowers were stunning. The room where the bride and her girls get ready is so adorable, I mean the whole place is adorable. I highly recommend this cute little chapel!! read more

Emailed the owner twice. Got one short response. Never heard from her again.

I rate this 5 stars as everything went smoothly and was relaxed. Jan was very helpful and although stressed on our wedding day, it was clearly because she wanted things to go WELL! It is nice to have someone help make your day successful and take some stress off. The Chapel itself is very cute and we could have had many more guests than we wanted. The brides preparation area is lovely and spacious. On the other hand the grooms area is roughly the size of a large closet. I suggest that they at least put a small fridge in it. It really is funny when you check it out. Awesome! Small and intimate is a correct description so I advise to really take a look at this place. PLUS since it is right outside of Point Defiance Park we went to the Rose Garden to take pictures. Excellent... read more

This was the perfect chapel for our wedding in June. We ended up hiring the owner, Jan, to be our officiant as well, and I must say, she is worth every penny. She made our day beautiful and special and she kept everything rolling despite horrible traffic and the ceremony starting late. The ceremony she wrote was amazing and heartfelt and it really made us feel unique. We had about 40 people attend. You can probably stuff about 60 people in here, but that's it. She does host receptions, but we didn't have ours here- we did take several of her vendor recommendations and couldn't be more pleased with all of her help. The chapel itself is cute and inviting. There is a bridal suite and a small back porch area that is perfect for photos. It's only two blocks from Point Defiance. It's wonderful, and worth a look if you need a small wedding or ceremony. read more
