A friendly welcome soon made us relax and having been shown to out table we were given the menu which is not your normal 'pub grub'. Wide selection of interesting food with steak a speciality on Wednesday nights. The food was all freshly prepared and well worth the wait excellent quality. Reasonably priced wine list and superb puds we will return

Our table was booked for 2.15 pm and the place was heaving, absolutely packed. We had a fantastic meal, my daughter and I had the open lasagne which was squash and goats cheese with a pesto sauce I could eat that every day of the week it was heavenly, my daughter thought the same. My husband opted for the roast rib of beef and said it was really tasty, lovely bit of beef. We had chocolate fondants and bread and butter pudding for desserts which were also well above par. All in all (husband also said it was the best pint he had drunk for a very long time) we had a really enjoyable mothers day meal and we felt good value for money with quality ingredients, not frozen ready meals bought in like some pubs dish up. 6 August 2011 Had a really nice meal which we both enjoyed, nice touch having the home made bread and home churned butter. Lovely homely country pub atmosphere (and just love the hops hanging from the beams!), all the staff friendly and helpful. My husband happy with selection of beers The pud was really delicious. Will definitely be back, want to have all three courses next time!

It has long been a favourite of mine for Birthday dinner and drinks. If said Birthday happens to fall in Summer then it's even more perfect as there is a beautiful terrace garden that has the vantage point of being perched on a hill that overlooks the whole of Tunbridge Wells. The perks of this view are not restricted to the Summer Sunset, spending a Bonfire Night at the Beacon is an amazing experience as you look out onto a night sky full of fireworks from the town below. The building is beautiful, the food splendid and the view grand. I have been with groups of friends and family and never experienced any child phobia. There is a large grassy area, albeit a bit of a slope, if youngsters want to run around, but no play area is provided. It also has its own car park so no worries there for the designated driver.

Don't be fooled by his casual grace. He is a crook and a deviant of the highest order. With his quick feet and a mean set of alligator arms, he's a force to be reckoned with. The shark sauntered in while my brother and I were devouring bacon rolls (which were delicious) and pints in the darkest corner of the pub. Having spent the past hour frantically calculating the exchange rate, we were exhausted by elemental math and decided to throw caution to the wind. No amount of savings was worth this aggravation. Money is money...right? Fat and drunk is how we expected the evening to end, bank accounts be damned. Without even so much as a greeting, the scoundrel sidled right into our booth. Several quick platitudes later (which we could barely decipher through his garbled accent...English? Not any English that I've ever heard) and he was ordering food & drink like a man possessed. As his tab grew exponentially, so did our excitement. Dressed well, affecting a posh accent, and pontificating on his various business ventures, we were all but certain that our tab was paid. His temperament was even relaxed enough to bear the brunt of several jokes about his mangled teeth. Dear Diary...Jackpot! Our attitudes grew lofty and so did our ordering habits. I'm fairly certain we sampled everything on the menu. I excused myself to use the water closet as the Monopoly man slipped away from our table, slammed the door, and scampered off into the fog-laden evening. I can't be certain, but I'm pretty sure we heard a faint, girlish giggle as the sound of dainty footsteps echoed down the alley. Inebriated, distended, and lethargic, I approached the bartender to inquire about our bill. He shrugged, I shrugged... "What was that?" I asked. He said, "That was £220." "What about the Monopoly guy? Surely he picked up the tab...what with his dapper attire, wanton ordering style, and his stories of fortune." The tender replied simply, "No such luck my kind Yankee. Cornwallis' Revenge strikes again."

The lunch menu was well mixed with plenty options to share and taste. We went for the allotment board to share for 4 adults and 2 kids which went down well and every last bit scraped from the board. For main I had the roast butternut squash, blue cheese and chick peas. Wow - what a taste on a plate. Each mouthful washed down with some local ale. Would highly recommend!!

The Black Pig is a superb pub with a mouth-watering menu. The roast beef with Yorkshire pud is very near perfection, with major respect to the chef for his gravy (I'm a total gravy buff, I always attack my roasts armed with an extra jug of gravy). I also tried the roast pork; cooked absolutely perfectly with a nice big chunk of beautifully roasted and spiced crackling. My sister's lucky to have gotten away with any at all... They've got a parking lot around the back, which is convenient considering that parking in T Wells is one of those circle-round-for-hours-hating-life type of experiences... BBQs every Sunday evening in the beer garden, definitely giving that a go. I peeked a look at the BBQ menu, first thing on offer: "Bunny Burger"! They've got my attention and my business! Now how do I explain that to my daughter....
