The Royal Oak is ya typical old mans pub in a village frequented now by a mixed crowd of various ages.
It needs some updating and not my typical type of pub with new trendy features and Farrow and Ball historical paint colours but every Halloween I visit here with friends for their annual bash. This year they went to town and tickets at a small price of £3 for a Monsters Ball was well worth the effort the owners had made to decorate in spooky fashion.
A spooky entrance and doorman awaited and a large marque with all sorts of cobwebs, tables with fake spiders and Halloween figures hung from the ceilings. Everyone had made a huge effort to dress up and all sorts of ghoulish, zombies, vampires and scary characters. Me being a Steampunk Vampire. They also provided a DJ playing classics but definitely not drum and bass ( not sure he knew what that was! ) even so everyone had an excellent time and the best fancy dress won a bottle of wine so not too bad. read more
