The breakfast had no meat, had to ask for more OJ, and not filling. My room was up in the attic. I got upgraded to the Misty Mare room. Not sure if I wanted that. I always had to make sure I don't hit my head. The light switch turned off all the electricity to all the outlets. Surprise, surprise, our phones were not charged! They have a few bicycles, but some are in rough shape. The breakfast was light but delicious. There is plenty of free public parking behind the inn. So park behind them and walk through the back to the front door. The staff is friendly and did a good job cleaning the room and serving. I did not try dinner, but it was packed; I don't know if that indicates quality. But all the tables were full. For the price compared to the other hotels, it's a good choice for a couple. I'm sure you could have kids, but there is nothing on the grounds to keep them entertained. And because of that, if you stay there, you don't get the noise from screaming kids or the frat boys getting wasted next door. It's an excellent option for an overnight stay.

Review of pre-fixe 5 course dinner…read more A bygone era is alive and well here. I appreciated the service that emphasized decorum and gentleness. The courses were so different; a lot of thought has gone into the menu and prep. The crab bisque was delicious and appropriately sized. I loved the subtle touch of sherry. A smart way to begin the evening. I found the amuse bouche plate that consisted of a single scallop, French onion scone with strawberry preserves, Gruyere cheese, and other foods, to be a bit confusing. The salad plate was top notch, enjoyable. Red snapper, the main course, was right in there. A lovely fillet, placed on a bed of delicate mashed potatoes and fresh vegetable medley, was excellent. The chocolate fig cake dessert looked superb but some of the other chocolate components weren't complementary. The whole dining experience was very relaxing.

This past weekend I had the pleasure of staying in the Langston Hughes room with my mom. Our stay was only one night, but we both agreed that we would love to return! Our room was really cozy, as is the house in general. There was no TV in our room which I thought was great. Not having that enhanced the feeling of relaxation and getting away. The Langston Hughes room was so detailed for the time period in which he lived, from the light fixtures to the old rotary phone and radio. The room had a water closet inside, so no worries about having to share a bathroom with other guests. Breakfast is served in the morning, English style. We were treated to tea, beans, toast with jam, and fried egg, mini sausages, and impeccably cooked bacon. I'd never had English beans, so I sort of expected them to taste like what you'd get at a cookout. That is not the case! I can't say what they're similar to but I definitely recommend them. We were also able to try chocolate and biscuits from England. The owner, Heidi, is such a pleasant, warm, and inviting person. She's very knowledgeable about things to do in the area, where to grab a good meal, and things like that. What I really enjoyed was her desire to share about her English culture. Having never been myself, I really appreciated listening to her talk about where she comes from and all the touches of "home" she incorporates into the inn. In Princess Anne, skip the regular hotel or motel experience, and book a room at Book Lovers!

Once inside it was very clean and organized home. Once we checked in we were shown the TV room, the eating area (cookies were waiting) and then our room. The bed was comfortable and breakfast was waiting for us in the morning. After breakfast we took up the hostess on her suggestion and visited Berlin, MD. Small town, but had antique shops, friendly people and free parking. We arrived back that evening, watched TV for a bit and retired to our room. The next morning was an English Breakfast and we headed back home. Overall it was a relaxing and great experience at this B&B. We'll return in the future!

The home is stunning with amazing attention to detail. There's convenient parking on-site, and you walk into the side door of the home. The hosts were amazing. Doug was great with answering all my questions and emails before we went, and once there, they both were incredibly hospitable and offered us some cool beer and lovely wine and cheese when we checked in. They were very friendly and talkative and knew so much about the area. The reservation process was very simple, we called them up and booked our room via the phone. Check in was easy and quick and our room was beautiful. We stayed in the Chadwick room which is on the 2nd floor. It has an in-room bathroom, which is something I prefer in a B&B. The bed was a beautiful 4 poster with soft comfortable sheets. Everything was incredibly clean and decorated so well. The common rooms were beautiful and comfortable and had books on historic architecture in the area. I loved how they had photos of some of the previous owners of the home and their families. You have to look for the signature scratched into the glass window! The patio was really adorable, I wish we had had more time to sit outside and have a drink. Doug made us a reservation at the Blue Dog Cafe which was really fun. They had live music and singing which we enjoyed. We spent most of our time at Chincoteague and Assateague, which are both about a 30 minute drive away from the house. Doug and Fran gave excellent directions and had maps available to give to us. The breakfast IS AMAZING. The best breakfast I have had at a B&B by FAR. Easily one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. Saturday morning was a simple breakfast as we had to leave really early for a kayaking reservation. Doug and Fran woke up early with us and were so accommodating! Even though breakfast is normally served later, they had some coffee and tea ready for us with wonderful goat cheese scrambled eggs and bacon. Sunday's breakfast was the breakfast of kings. We had a fruit cup, followed by Doug's father's Popovers recipe, which were these light and fluffy puffs in beautiful cups. That was then followed by a hashbrown crusted quiche, and ending with croissant french toast. We were stuffed and it was all delicious. HIGHLY recommend!!!
