I know it's a long review, but trust me, it's well worth the read if you don't want to walk out of there with a $225 hairdo that looks like you did it yourself while drunk and in the dark. I went to The Ritzz salon on Friday, April 15th 2022 for a serious hair color appointment. I'll admit, my hair was in rough shape when I went in there. It was all different shades of faded magenta and pink and I knew it was going to be a tough job to fix. I was as detailed as I could be over the phone about the condition of my hair and asked if they would be able to do it. They made me an appointment for the next day. From the moment my butt hit chair, and my stylist Megan touched my hair, the insults started rolling. "Oh my gosh your hair is so thin!" But I let it go with the thought that I shouldn't be overly sensitive about observative comments made by a professional in the field. We decided the best treatment would be a color removal first to be more gentle on my "very damaged, dry, thin, hair". They had me sitting back at the very uncomfortable sinks for over an hour and a half while the color remover and bleach did it's job. I ended up with a SEVERE migraine and bruising/soreness on the back of my neck from the sink. No matter how I sat, the chair was uncomfortable and the sink was at an awkward position that dug into my neck hard enough to leave a bruise. They waited until my roots were almost white before trying to get the color out of the midshafts of my hair. I was then informed that they ran out of color remover and had to switch to bleach. Suddenly, them running out of color remover was my fault because my hair is "so thin and porous like SWISS CHEESE and soaks up all of the product too much" -The owner, Dana. Again, I just tried to laugh it off and not be too sensitive about trivial comments concerning my hair. After the color removal, my hair was then a mix of white, blonde, and mostly peach color. Then, a walk-in consultation for hair extensions came in, and my stylist was in charge of doing the consultation. The owner, Dana, then told my stylist, Megan, to "slap some color" on me quick and then get to the consultation. Well, she definitely took that literally. In fact, she "slapped" color on me so quickly, that she got it ALL OVER my face, including spread halfway across my cheek, and all over my $90 blue jeans and $40 t-shirt. Megan then told me that the color would stay on for 20 minutes. I specifically told them SEVERAL times that I absolutely did not want brown hair, but closer to my natural dark blonde shade. Instead, I was left to sit there for near AN HOUR with color on my head while my stylist continued with her walk-in extensions consultation. After washing out I was told, "it looks dark now, but it will fade!" My haircut was extremely choppy and unchecked for symmetry. Megan did not even compare the sides to see if they were the same length. She then proceeded to comb/brush through AND blow dry my hair. So tell me why, when I got home and actually had time to look at my hair, I IMMEDIATELY noticed Megan had missed entire CHUNKS of my hair while coloring it. As you see in the photos below, they are VERY noticeable (I can't even wear my hair up now, and it has to be parted in a very certain way to not show any of the missed chunks). Not only that, but my hair is WAAAY darker than I wanted it and my roots are a ginger color. The color is completely uneven, patchy, and streaky. I immediately called Megan the next day to voice my complaints, to which she told me that I was very rude, and offered to fix it for free, saying she "didn't notice" the mess ups. You're gonna tell me that while washing it, combing it, AND drying it, that you "didn't notice" these huge mistakes??? Sorry, but not buying it. I responded that I didn't believe that one bit, and that it was extremely unethical to let me walk out of there with my hair looking like this, and I didn't trust her to touch my hair again. Megan responded that she does not give out refunds and then proceeded to HANG UP ON ME. Not only did she completely mess up my hair, lie to my face about it, AND charge me $225 for a color and a cut that should have been $150-$180, but she also HUNG UP on me when I voiced my opinions about the job she did. Considering how angry, upset, and emotional about the whole ordeal I was, I thought I spoke to her rather calmly, and not in a rude matter whatsoever. I ended up crying about it for a really long time. $225 for a color that looks like I did it at home, drunk, in the dark, $130 in ruined clothes, and $100 to a new ACTUAL professional to fix Megan's mistakes. That's $455 down the drain, with no reasonable compensation whatsoever. NEVER GO TO THIS SALON. -1,000/10 would not even recommend to my WORST enemy. read more

Ciera was late for every appointment, I had extensions put in from her she didn't put them in correctly and they looked awful so I had her take them out after two weeks and she also didn't know how to remove them correctly,She pulled so much of my hair I had very little left and after almost a year my hair is still struggling to come back. Would not recommend her services. If I could rate no stars I would but it requires at least 1 star read more

People don't let this place fool you by the use of the word "RITZZ". There is certainly a lack of professional hair stylists & nail personnel in Billings & this is the only reason the Ritzz is still in business. The Ritzz is perfect @ taking your money but do not expect anything good in return. Poor unprofessional hair stylists/cutters & underhanded manicurists that charged me over $40 for a nail color change. The job was quite the embarrassment since I had my nail color change done right before leaving to a sophisticated resort. My grandson had a haircut that was just as embarrassing. Attention owner retrain or rehire. It is unfair to be taking peoples money when we get nothing but headaches in return. read more

This salon is a total rip off. My brother took my 8 year old niece to get a wash and set and was quoted $35 for the service. Then they decided because she has a lot of hair they would have two beauticians work on her hair. They worked on it for 3 hrs and charged $200 (that's with "discount"). I'm afraid to see the bill without the so called discount. How does it cost $200 to straighten the hair of an 8 year old? They told my brother they charge by the hour when it's a lot of hair and then charged double because THEY decided to have two people work on her hair. Thievery at its best. You all should be ashamed. A man taking care of his daughter and you go rob him like that. That is not good customer service read more

It's over 100 degrees today and I have an appointment as a new client with "K". She stands me up. Say's she's too busy to keep our appointment now that I am there. She off loads me on a very very young looking underling. So I inform them they have lost my business. "K" sends me a text stating "I am mad". Not sure how she knows this as she didn't even have the backbone to speak to me in person. She texts me that,,"She didn't think I would mine being taken care of by someone else." "K" wasted my time, was arrogant, rude and unprofessional. If you want to be treated this way too, make an appointment with "K". Especially on a day over 100 degrees. Nothing like having your time wasted and being treated like you don't matter. Obviously The Ritzz Salon doesn't need new clients! read more

I'm not one for technology or social media but I wanted to take the time to write a review because these girls and this business deserve to know that their hard work is making a difference. I called them with a beauty emergency, the stylist I've been using for 3 years up and abandoned me! DESTINY had already rescued me once last year, I won a contest I had entered called fur babies, to announce my engagement and won a free photo shoot session! The stylist I normally saw, couldn't get me in so I googled a bit and found DESTINY. She got me in to see her right away, made sure to give me the discount, for the promotion she was running, I thought she was so sweet... then I saw my lashes, I'm serious I was trying to think up reasons to tell the stylist I'd been seeing for 3 years!!! That I wasn't coming back. Luckily that situation presented itself and right away I knew who to call. Again, DESTINY got me in to see her within a few days of calling and again did absolutely astounding work. It's a blessing that she is willing to take me on as a client. As I was leaving my lash appointment, I asked if there was any chance someone could fix a few of my nails. A super sweet nail tech named ASHLEE, was still there and offered to squeeze me in real quick. Omg! I can't even tell you how amazing this girl is!!! Seriously so impressed. I hope the picture of my nails is attached to this post so I can say it from first hand experience, she free-handed that nail art!! I truly got two extremely valuable and amazing blessings today, and both DESTINY & ASHLEE will be my permanent stylists of choice!!! Wow I'd give this salon 10 Stars If I could Thank you all again, so much, see you in two weeks!! She did this amazing reconstruction out of a set of nails I got somewhere else and didn't like, I just couldn't get over them, she worked this magic in like 30 minutes and I am 100% decided that this is who I will be booking my nail appointments with from now on. Kayla at the Ritzz treated me so, so well! I was a little frustrated with the majority of the salon visits I've made in Billings and was about to head out to some military training so I wanted a fresh cut to remove my split ends and get it in shape to have up in a bun every day. Kayla gave me exactly what I asked for in the cut and shaped to my face really well for when I have my hair down. She styled my hair afterwards and took her time. It looked awesome and I was so appreciative. She is fun to talk with and not the conversation was not awkward (like it can be sometimes with stylists...you know what I mean)! Highly recommend for a cut, I can't speak to color yet. read more

I love my consultant here and have been going for over a year. However after my visit today I will no longer be going. Evidentially the management is refusing to follow the mask mandate. Management has no right to put their employees as well as their customers in this type of a situation where you must ask them to put on a mask. I saw no signs that management was doing anything different inside this establishment to do their part as a business owner. Went for common color hi-lites, got beautician that had "no" experience at all, took 4 hours ,my hair got extreamly bleached, gold, brassy, over processed. After searching on Yelp for a new salon, I settled on Ritzz. I waited over two years to go to a salon in Montana because I have seen so many bad haircuts all over town that I didn't know who I could trust. I have seen a lot of hairstyles that are stuck in the 90s, and early aughts, with zebra-striped highlights, "The Rachel" or Kate Gosselin's horrendous reverse mullet. You ladies do you, but that is not for me. The stylist I was assigned, Genna, was knowledgeable and nice. I showed her a picture of what I wanted, and she tailored it to my hair type. She gave me exactly what I needed, charged a fair price, and was all around pleasant. I'll be coming back. I don't know when, but it will definitely be this place. read more

I needed to find a salon to fix a broken nail and trim my hair up and read the reviews on Yelp. I was greeted at. the front door and taken right in for my nail repair. They dont do SNS dipping but did a shellac repair and it matches my other nails perfectly. I went to another stylist for my hair and she did a beautiful job! Very pleased and impressed with how everything turned out. The fit me in with less than 24 hours notice and the cleanliness,professionalism and customer service was top notch. I highly recommend this place! Ask for Callie, she is awesome and listens to what the client wants. Would def return when I'm back in town!! read more

I was in from out of town on business and realized my hair needed a trim and a touch up on some grey. I called Ritzz Salon and luckily, they were able to accommodate me on short notice. I had made my appointment with Caitlin. Let me start by saying the people at the salon are soooo nice and they greet you with a smile. Caitlin took the time to consult with me and find out what I was looking for in a cut and color. She proceeded to match the perfect color to cover my grey and to top it off, gave me an amazing cut. I was pleasantly surprised with the facial I had done with Beth. The room I had my facial in was warm and relaxing which was perfect since I was freezing and stressed. By the time I left I was completely relaxed with glowing skin. I usually don't use product on my face but the line she used and recommended is really incredible...even two weeks later my skin looks and feelings amazing. I've been going to the same hairstylist for 8 years so I was a little nervous to try someone new. I got a haircut from Kayla Hunt and it is amazing. She did such a great job. Worst decision ever!!! I went for the first time at the Ritzz for a full set of nails and my nail tech confessed that she is new in this industry. Not a big deal I support people that are at the beginning in their career. After taking almost 5 Hours to get my nails done (5:15 PM to 10 PM ) she told me the total amount was $75, I thought that was pretty pricey for a beginner who took that long to get my nails done but I let it go and I tipped her $10, so the final total was $85 for a full set of nails, pretty expensive taking into account that normally i would pay $45 to $50 for a set of nails: gel or acrylic. After a few days I checked my credit card and and she added an extra $6 in tip so the posted amount on my credit card was $91 for a full set of nails. Would anybody pay that much for a set of nails??Unbelievable. Finally, I went back and I told her that she added an extra $6 to her tip pretty much a total $16 in tip and she didn't look surprised at all. Of course I got the answer i expected"it was a mistake"... $85 vs $91 don't look like similar numbers. I will never repeat this mistake again. Ohhh... and btw she also charged $5 because she was EXTREMELY SLOW(for the extra time). After only 4 days one of my nails broke. All that I can say is WOW,WOW, WOW!!!! Ladies, do yourself a favor and never go there to get your nails done. Not worth it. I have been to a lot of salons before... but this was by far the worst I have been too. read more
