A bit different from your average Travelodge, but that's a good thing! With its sweeping double staircase adorned with paintings, you could be forgiven for thinking you're on the set of 'Upstairs Downstairs'. Our room was at the front corner of the building with views both ways overlooking the imposing main street of Leamington. There was some noise from the traffic and the bars below but it was not particularly intrusive; I imagine rooms at the back would be quieter, but with a less impressive view. The room was sparsely decorated in typical Travelodge style, but absolutely huge, the main impression being space rather than cosiness. Everything was clean and worked well and the bed was comfy. The staff at the mini 24-hour reception desk (press buzzer to summon) were very friendly and helpful. There is no restaurant or bar (or residents' lounge or anything else for that matter) but that is not a problem as there are literally dozens of coffee/sandwich shops and bistros within a few yards. Best of all, there is a (much nicer than average) Wetherspoons across the road for breakfast and a pint! We booked in advance and got a weekend for £48 for the two of us, which was an absolute bargain. The only downside is the parking (or lack of it). There is a small loading/unloading space (max 15 mins) outside the hotel, but it was always occupied. There is short stay street parking a couple of hundred yards away and several multi-storeys within half a mile - the cheapest for overnight parking is Covent Garden (signed P1) at £3 for 24 hours. Some of the others are considerably more, so check before you park. read more
