I would say this venue has been booking more new and exciting bands over the past five years…read more Please please keep these shows coming. Makes me happy to see more punk/goth/metal shows happening here. I went to the recently sold out Die Spitz show and I was amazed how much energy the crowd had. You won't see no mosh pit at Golden One Center. Keep supporting smaller music venues and independent artists.

Located on J Street on the 27th block, this small club exceeded all my expectations for this show. Parking is mostly all neighborhood parking at street meters, but the venue only holds maybe 300 so its not horrible Going through security and ticket check was relatively quick and painless, with security and employees all easy going and pleasant. Once inside, the merch tables were a little cramped, but merch was displayed prominently and transactions were quick and easy. The bar area to right when you first walk in takes up almost the whole wall, with multiple bartenders taking orders and serving customers so ordering a beer was quick to come, ice cold and not ridiculously marked up compared to other places .They also had various mixed drink options. The actual floor/stage area was small, intimate and surrounded at back and on side with raised area with some tables and chairs that were reserved, I assume for an extra price (I didnt inquire). The acoustics were quite good, considering the bands playing(opener was a so cal punk band called The Mainliners), headliner was a heavy metal stoner/grunge type band from Norway (Slomosa). A great evening of music, venue is exceptional, looking forward to finding a show I can take the wife too, as I never explored the back or upper areas that I understand add even more layers to an exceptional experience at this venue.

My girl took me to see Coming to America for date night at The Crest Theatre, and I had a really…read moregood time. This was my first time there, and it's not your typical modern movie theater. It's a historic theater in downtown Sacramento that presents live entertainment, movies, and special events. What makes it unique is the stage in front of the screen, which gives it a classic, old-school vibe. She paid for the tickets ahead of time, but their system was down when we arrived. They had to check everyone in manually from a laptop. It was understandable things happen and the staff handled it as smoothly as they could. While she was confirming our tickets, I grabbed popcorn. Sadly, the popcorn was a little salty. Like most theaters, it was a little pricey. We may or may not have brought our own candy and drinks... don't tell anybody. It had a good crowd but wasn't too bad.We got some good seats. Since it's a historic theater and not a newer upscale cinema, the seats didn't recline and were a little small, but they were still comfortable enough I've seen Coming to America plenty of times on TV, but watching it on the big screen in a classic theater like this was a different experience. Overall, it was a great date night. Good movie, even better company. My girl definitely did her thing planning this one. My girl and I are definitely coming back again!!

Wonderful Venue For Ally The Piper!…read more SITREP Stopped by here this past weekend with my buddies Jefe and Devn to checkout a new heartthrob: ALLY THE PIPER! THE SETUP Goldfield Trading Post is a modest, small venue - more like a country-western dance club, styling itself as an old fashioned 49er-like saloon. What it does, it does well with all the old timey maps, pictures, furnishings, wall decor and just the overall vibe. THE PERFORMANCE STAGE The stage is small, but at least tall enough (2-3 feet risers?) so that we could see Ally, her band and any other performers rather easily over the heads of the other attendees in front of us. The sound system was adequate with basic mic'ing for the singing, but we mainly relied upon the bands own sound systems to hear the instruments. THE BAR If you are mainly in for the drinking, the bar has got you covered with an array of beers, wines and a decent selection of spirits. I got my basic Jack & Diet Coke and after the first two the bartender gave me free refills of Diet Coke after that, so he won a loyal customer! (Tip your bartenders!) SITTING VS. STANDING If you wanted to sit, you really needed to come to the bar-dining area, which, unfortunately, is a separate room from the bandstand where the bands perform. There was a third room on the OTHER side of the band room where the artists could put up their merch tables and people could find a few more seats/booths where to relax. But you really couldn't see the band from this room either. THE LOWDOWN Ally The Piper was an inspired artist to showcase here at Goldfields and for that I am very grateful. Other than that, not sure I would just come here to get a drink and would much prefer to be next door at the Tack Room where you read up on that spot in my companion review.

I don't expect to see super clean bathrooms, it's a bar folks, but staff was definitely welcoming & courteous pretty awesome to meet this amazing artist! I been trying to make it out to Stoney's Rockin Rodeo for years and finally just said forget it…read morelet's goooo... and honestly I should have came sooner. Walked in ready to learn some line dancing and ended up having a blast. The vibe in here is legit... good country music, cold beers, people actually having fun, and not everyone standing around staring at their phones lol. Now let's talk about the parking lot... it is absolute survival mode you better get in where you fit in because once it gets busy it turns into organized chaos. If you know, you know. Security and ID check at the front was smooth though and honestly appreciated. Professional, friendly, and for $10 to get in it's hard to complain. The bartender had me cracking up all night. I ordered a Miller Genuine Draft and the look he gave me was like I just ordered the finest whiskey in the building instantly became friends. He kept calling it "the champagne of beers" and every time I walked back up he'd point and go "I know what you drink!" I was like damn... one night in and I'm already a regular hahaha. Great place to learn country dancing, have some drinks, and just enjoy some good vibes.

I managed to confidently jump in for the Cupid Shuffle because that was the only one I fully knew I attempted a few others by following random people's feet and let's just say... it was humbling, but honestly so much fun. The vibe here is great and everyone seemed to just be having a genuinely good time. They have 2 bars, tons of space for dancing, plenty of seating, a mechanical bull, and surprisingly good food too. I'd definitely recommend taking the dance lessons first if you're new because these regulars are NOT playing around Great spot for a fun night out. The service is friendly too. We made friends with the bartender.
