She is often the first to be greeting families each day at the door and does SO much we could never even imagine behind the scenes too. Our child often comments about Debi and her involvement in their school day - I'm amazed by this. Additionally, all the teachers and staff here are extremely well qualified, understanding (they are all parents too), warm and truly enjoy being with kids. Our child entered preK for the first time in January and within weeks (if not days) had learned so much. She went from no school experience to confident on her way to learning all the expected preK skills and more! She was writing her name, making and identifying her letters, counting and identifying her numbers, and so much more. They made school so fun with tons of meaningful and themed art projects, creative play, experiments and lots more. They had opened an extra afternoon class and we got lucky to be able to join mid year. We were also lucky enough to have a fabulous teacher, Cynthia, with decades of experience... she made our child's first learning experience one that every parent dreams. Our expectations were completely surpassed. I love that they are so flexible with the number of days you attend as well. I wasn't ready to send my child more than 2 days to start (even though she was begging to go each day and couldn't stop talking about her amazing new school!) Within less than a day, the director Debi, every teacher, and all the staff knew my child's name and welcomed her with full hearts. If I could give this Academy a 0 stars, I would. I debated on doing this review, because I really had high hopes especially with this being 5 stars AND in a good neighborhood. Recently I moved back to NC from OH, and I was always skeptical of daycare, so I kept my daughter at home with me. Well, her father and I agreed it was time for her to go. I called Chesterbrook earlier this year in May, and then in September they had an infant opening. So, Ms. Susan Moore had given my mother and I a tour late September. I thought everything was so nice and she was amazing! Well, my daughter started October 9th, and after that day she did not return. For as Ms. Jasmine was her teacher, and there were several things that bothered me. I would find my daughter's behavior somewhat acceptable if she never went to daycare, but she has always gone to my church daycare and not once did she ever act this way. Once I gave my daughter to Ms. Jasmine she was crying and screaming...literally? I thought well maybe that's because she's new? Nope. She cried the entire day. Now, I understood that Ms. Jasmine was new, but she only had two infants, my daughter (who could crawl) and another baby that laid on her back (she couldn't crawl). So, I grabbed my daughter and continued to hold her till I left. I made my daughter a whole feeding plan and explained to Ms. Jasmine step by step how to feed my daughter. She gave my daughter just turkey? then hours later gave her the fruits and vegetables, but that wasn't how I explained it to her? So, when I asked her why didn't she follow the feeding plan, her remarks were, "I forgot". So, when I viewed my daughter's chart. They changed her around 9:45ish AM, then 1 something, and then right around I came to pick her up which was 3:30. I was so confused. THEN, Ms. Jasmine was not wearing no SHOES or SOCKS and her feet were all on the carpet, by the children's toys, and when I looked at her as she was sitting on the carpet, her bare feet was in close proximity to my daughters face. I was disgusted. For I think when you are working in childcare there is a certain way a person is to be presented, I mean in my opinion. I, then continued to walk to Ms. Susan Moore (the Assistant Principal) and ask her was Ms. Jasmine supposed to wear socks and shoes? with booties on? She proceeded to tell me that she was in fact supposed too, and that she would remind her to put something on her feet. Well, I as came to pick my daughter up, she was not wearing any socks, shoes, or booties. Ms. Jasmine was in front of my child, and her nose was running till her snot was in her mouth, while Ms. Jasmine was IN FRONT of her, but attending to the other child. I picked my child up. She wasn't wearing any socks. She had paint on her shirt. AND when I asked for a tissue, she gave me a hard paper towel to wipe my childs nose. My baby looked miserable, and I left her in the worst care thinking she was going to be taken cared of. Nope. I then proceeded to make the decision that my daughter would no longer attend this Academy. As I was coming to get her things, and they didn't include everything. One of the staff members made a comment, "I mean she only did stay for one day " and rolled her eyes at me. I was upset, but I just kept going on about my business. I say this to say, this place is only about the money. They do not care about the children or the families, and just because they are 5 stars...doesn't mean they are legit. I was willing to pay $410 a month, but I'm glad it didn't work out.

It was a noticeable difference to us how much more she was learning and able to do once we started her at Chesterbrook Academy Preschool. The curriculum, class structure, and supportive teacher made a big difference in how much our daughter was learning and enjoying class. We know this PreK program is giving our daughter a good foundation in learning and thorough preparation for any kindergarten program. Ms. Mary is a fantastic teacher and the administration at at Chesterbrook Academy Preschool is terrific as well. The principal and vice principal are very helpful and happy to answer questions. The level of communication between the school and parents is great.

Sure enough I was told they had a spot for all three of my kids and by the grace of God they were at Knowledge Beginnings 7 days later STABILITY! KB has given my children something they and I have desperately needed in our lives right now for personal reasons. They're happy there. That means the world to me because the last place they were at for only two months, I was desperate to get them out so much that I was nauseous everyday dropping them off. Hearing their cries and the things my six, almost 7yo daughter would tell me. Again I just cannot say enough about the care provided by KB for the whole family. I love their director Erica and assistant director Alex! They're both incredibly friendly and make you feel like you've been friends for two decades kind of friendly but still professional and uphold boundaries to ensure that all are treated the same. They really care about their students and families. The teachers are wonderful especially in keeping contact with us parents about any concerns or even kudos. We all have things going on in our lives at home but Knowledge Beginnings have given such a wonderful, safe, happy, structured, comforting and loving stable environment for my children and I'm so grateful. We had my infant daughter with primary beginnings for…read more3 months, throughout the time I don't think there were two weeks straight where they didn't request/require us to pick her up for signs of "illness", every time we would go to the doctor only to find out nothing was wrong. While I normally appreciate a cautious outlook on health, I can't quite shake the feeling that they knew that I was able to pick my daughter up so we were the first call when for whatever reason they needed children to go home early. I will say I enjoyed my daughter's teachers, they were always pleasant. Because of the teachers we were initially willing to overlook a few bumps in the road by making our position and what we expect clear. However, the business practices of the facility remained untenable. Even up to the point where we gave our notice, they cancelled the last week on us. If you plan on taking your child here, either have a really great PTO policy with your job, or keep another sitter on retainer. You will not be able to reliably take your child there and attend to your job.
