Honestly, anyone with a negative review of this place can keep it in their mind they don't like it. More room for us as this is one of the best kept secrets in Oxford and tourists usually don't frequent it too much unless they're brought by a local because it is off the beaten path. As the good stuff usually is. As Americans living in Oxford, we landed at an airbnb just up the street and this was the first pub we found in 2013. Damn, are we ever glad we did. The food is solid, the beer is too and you can't beat their prices for gin and tonics. Cheap! In the summer, you can take your pint and head outside to one of the benches along the river and chat up a neighbour with a cute dog. Or you can hang out in the pretty garden. We've taken countless friends here, the chips are great as is the rest of the rotating menu. In the winter, the pub has a really cosy feel and the only bummer is now that we've moved to Summertown, it won't be as easy to get to. I will say it is a bit pricier than other pubs in Oxford but Osney Island is a bit more affluent too so they can afford it. I will say the quality there though is easily better than most pubs in Oxford so we think it's worth it. Highly highly recommended. read more
