Not too loud, nice clean bathrooms (with a where's Waldo puzzle on the inside of the bathroom stall door if you want to take a break from your group and chill for awhile ), decent menu and huge selection of drinks. There's a big parking lot and plenty of comfy seating. The service is friendly and quick. There didn't appear to be a dance floor or pool table, but there are VLT's if you're into that. read more

Buses are slower then walking and thats how I discovered this place. On my way home from work. Stopped in for dinner and a beer. Pretty typical sports pub. Looks like they let the guests change the channel though! Lots of seating. Grabbed some hot wings, bbq caeser salad and a side of pickles. Service was good, nothing to complain about. I will say, I feel like the menu is missing something but I can't put my finger on it. Just didn't see anything that stuck out, so I went with my old fave choice. Stopped in for a snack and to watch the hockey game and was really pleased with the experience. The service was good, food was great and the atmosphere is comfy. It's a Pub. A huge pub. Laid back. Loud. Casual friendly staff. Cold beer. Big TVs. Good prices. Most importantly...amazing food. For me, they have the best Fish & Chips in Edmonton! I've had them all and none compare. Theirs is super crisp, fresh, hot, cooked perfectly EVERY time & served with homemade tartar (that is something unique & special), crisp coleslaw AND hot, perfect fries! Every visit with friends ends with great reviews of whatever dishes were consumed. From my experience, you can't go wrong with anything the kitchen puts out. Highly recommended. I've been there a handful of times. Mostly when there's a game to watch. Hockey, soccer, football... Twice, I've eaten the eggs benny's for weekend brunch and found it delicious. The burgers are divine. So many fries on the plate!! My husband did not care for the ranchero bowl or the black bean chili. The kale salad is good. Make sure you ask if the leaves have been massaged. I had one a few years ago that wasn't. Let's talk about the Caesars. Yummy. Not fancy looking, but so tasty. There's some great beers on tap. One of my favs is a red beer brewed in Camrose. This poorly managed restaurant is shameful. The waitress named Amber was phenomenal. She worked way to hard. She has the best personality. She and the food was the only upside to this visit. The manager sat and interviewed people and did not even lift a finger to help her. As I have been in management for over twenty years. I would be the first to help one of my struggling employees on the floor. And would make a point of stay later if needed to get them caught up. read more

Went hear to kill some time before a movie. It was such a nice surprise. I loved the décor...hipster and interesting without being pretentious is how I would describe it. Great cocktail, wine, and beer menu. Staff were pretty busy but friendly. We just wanted a snack and so we chose the nachos. They were amazing! I loved that they put four layers of cheese and veggies between the nachos. So good and filling. Not like other places where in the middle there is a heaping mess of lukewarm plain chips. I had a cocktail and it was delicious as well. Noticing the reviews we will have to come back for the burgers and the brunch....not to mention the poutine! I really wish we could use half star ratings. I would have given. 3 1/2 star rating. 4 stars seems too high. But overall as solid place to go for to watch sports and have some good pub food. Service was solid too. Waitress was attentive and even asked me if I wanted celery in my 2nd Caesar after she noticed I didn't eat it. A wee clue about my drinking habits there Anywho we can Sunday around 1 cuz they offer a brunch menu. I had the eggs Benedict and hubby had the clubhouse. Clubhouse was pretty tasty and recommended. Didn't have the 3rd slice of bread which hubby liked. The eggs benny were pretty solid. Sauce could have had more lemon and a little more ham but I wud order again. Caesars are awesome! read more

What a great pub! Can definitely say that before tonight I had not heard of this place but I will definitely be back! Stopped in for an event and stayed after for some food and drink. We had the duck Poutine which was amazing. Also the pulled pork sandwich and nachos. Awesome homemade food. Lots of comfort food on the menu too. Beers were cold and my friends said they Manhattan and Old Fashioned were superb. Even had an Italian imported bitters. Dessert was lemon tart and it was exceptional. I really liked the atmosphere here too. After the event they had a name that tune bingo done by mr. Entertainment. The host was great and it was a lot of fun. All on a Tuesday night! Great times! Had dinner at The Provincial on Friday night. Was greeted by staff quite quickly. They had some decent drink specials. My husband had one of their beers on special which he enjoyed and I had a Caesar which was awesome. The menu has a decent spread. You can get everything from duck poutine to a burger. My husband had a burger that was GIANT! He really enjoyed it. The fries were magically seasoned and they had such good gravy. I had the spinach dip which was decent and the tomato soup. I am quite sissy when it comes to spice so I had to give the soup to my husband who even found that there was a kick to it. He did enjoy it though. I stole some of his fries as a trade. They have tons of TVs if you're wanting to watch a game. We enjoyed our time and I am sure we will check it out again. read more

My wife and I have been here several times, for dinners and just for a night cap. We have always been pretty happy, until now. First off, waitress was good, no problems with her. +1 My wife ordered an Irish Coffee. Too easy, right? Apparently not. Received a cup of coffee with a shot of what looked like Baileys on the side -1 Not wanting to make too big a fuss; long day, tired and all, we accepted it but were disappointed. One other thing, Guinness should be served in, at least, a proper pint glass if you can't afford the actual Guinness glasses -1 When you order a clubhouse sandwich with "No Mustard", you kind of expect "no mustard" Waitress confirmed "No Mustard". Sandwich came out with "lots" of mustard -1 Waitress recognized the issue right away and took the sandwich back. She then came back and told us they were going to make a new one. +1 Second sandwich came, trusted it to be made correctly. Ate half of it, then noticed a mustard taste, checked the second half, yep, there is mustard on it -1 Ok, enough disappointment with this dinner, waitress came by and we pointed out the mustard again, she apologized and asked if we wanted the bill. The bill came, we paid and left. Oh yea, charged us full price for the sandwich -1 We were allowed to leave with no sign of a manager or anyone in charge interested in resolving an issue. -1 Score -4 We went home disappointed by a place we had enjoyed many times previously. It's not like they were busy either, maybe 12 people in total in the whole establishment including us. We though this has to be an aberration, since our prior experiences were positive, so my wife wrote an email to the restaurant through their website contact link about our experience. Received a reply back from the "Manager", and yes, I am leaving out his name here on purpose, which just made the incident worse. Apparently, according to the "Manager", an Irish Coffee is supposed to be made with Baileys and Jameson's and coffee, just as "he" instructed the bartender to do and as he witnessed. Even the bill was rung in as a coffee and a Baileys. Funny, when we were in Ireland this spring, I never got Baileys in any of the many Irish Coffees I ordered. Even more funny was that we were at the Provincial Pub this past fall, we ordered and received 2 proper Irish Coffees. Maybe check with Google next time. We know we ordered "No Mustard", the waitress repeated "No Mustard" when she took the order. We repeated "No Mustard" when she took the first sandwich back and she agreed there was not supposed to be mustard on it. The replacement sandwich came out with mustard on the bottom slice of toast, the opposite side, away from the bacon, which was where the first order had the mustard. When we were looking at the first sandwich, we commented to ourselves that mustard was a terrible thing to do to the good bacon. This makes us wonder, if in fact, the kitchen simply took off the top slice of toast and the layer of bacon and missed that some of the mustard that was on the first sandwich managed to slip through to the bottom slice. I really hope that is not the case, especially since the "Manager" "witnessed" the kitchen making the new sandwich. Apparently the staff is "trained" to troubleshoot issues and not have to waste "minutes" tracking down a manager to explain and resolve issues. In a busy restaurant, that is a great idea, except maybe 12 people in total do not make for a busy restaurant. The "Manager" had time to tell the bartender how to make a "Irish Coffee" and witness the making of the replacement sandwich, but not enough time to resolve a customer issue? You knew there was an issue, why else would the kitchen be making a replacement sandwich? The waitress did her best to resolve the sandwich issue, by quickly responding and getting a replacement sandwich, she is not responsible for the kitchen not paying attention to a customer's request. The "Manager" should have been able to take the time from directing the bartender and supervising the kitchen, since it was not that busy, to stop by and check in with a guest who has had an issue. That is what a manager's job is, and in that, you failed. We won't be back A followup, OK. This is the response from the "manager" of the Provincial Kitchen and bar. Glad he has so many customers that he can afford to respond this way. " it's clear that we didn't meet your expectations or simply we're just not the right establishment for you. I've been here twice now - once for the YELP elite event and once more on Superbowl Sunday. Though we did get to try a few samplers, talk with the owners, and get a feel for the pub at the elite event, I really didn't feel it was fair to do a full on review. So now that I was back I figured I'd give it a go. I wish this place was closer to my house! The food was top notch and the service was fantastic. Even on a busy Sunday afternoon with the Pub full we felt like all of our needs were attended to and our server was never far away! I had the brie cheese (topped with pecans and cranberries with a peppery crusty bread) and the Tomato Soup entree. Both were delicious and I'd order again! My group also ordered sliders, pulled pork burgers, french fries and a few other items and no one had complaints. I'd highly recommend coming for a casual dinner out. What was really cool too was that we had reserved a spot over to the side, with couches and tables and our own separate TV and fireplace. It felt super cozy and a great way to watch a sports event with your friends. They also had a massive screen in the main part of the pub with tables set up to watch too so really you can't lose! The Hubba Hubby and I had a great time at the Yelp Elite event in January at Provincial Pub and we had a great time. It's a great little pub that is easily accessible just off of the Whitemud. I can only imagine how awesome it will be in the summer to sit out on a patio, people and car watching from the Provincial! The decor is simple, warm and friendly. And we loved the tunage that was playing all night - it set the mood for a great time! We got to try a few samples and after looking at the menu, we look forward to coming back to discover more favourites! The lemon tart is oh so perfect - tart and tasty! So that will definitely be part of the plan for our next visit. And it seems like there are fun events to look forward to, along with great food. Is this the new southside place to go? Did it de-throne the current king and queen of southside pubs? Here's my review. I showed up on a Tuesday and had a great time playing Bingo Tunes(bingo with music) I would highly recommend coming here for this. The prizes they gave were laughable (frosting , doller store items , etc) but it really wasn't about the prizes. People had a great time doing interactive events and just generally bopping to the 1 minute clips. The service at Provincial was amazing and the food was pretty good. I tried the duck poutine and the pork belly. Let me tell you , it's very risky to feed pork belly to Chinese people. We grew up on this stuff, and will judge harshly. It definitely hit all of the highlights. Crackly, porky and fantastic. Well worth it. The Duck poutine however wasn't anything to brag about. Solid but very "meh" Pros Great Service. REALLY . GREAT. Being in attendance at the Yelp Elite event, I was pretty impressed with the latest reno/re-marketing of this space. It has been a long line of pubs and bars since I was a young punk finishing high school, so I was able to briefly stroll down memory lane when I entered this establishment. I like the decor and atmosphere of the Provincial Pub. While there were changes to the table layouts to accommodate the Elite Event, there is a nice flow and great looking bar that greets you when you walk in. The staff are very nice and service was great. Now for the food samplings. I was really impressed at the sophistication of the food presented to us. Smoked Salmon bites and Naan Bread concoctions that were quite yummy and presented well. Now if this is any indication of the care they take in their standard menu, be prepared for some great eats. I plan on revisiting this place and sampling some of their menu, I'm dying to try their Tuna BLT. read more

I have used the Provincial Kitchen & Bar's catering on two separate occasions and both times our guests were blown away with the menu. We served over 70 guests at each event & both times I received many compliments. I was able to sit down with Chef Brandon & plan the menu to suit the party I was having. Most recently the Provincial catered our Christmas Party & the seafood station had a dozen of our party goers having shucked oysters for the first time! Have been here a number of times in the evening and food has been decent. I tried their St. Patrick's Day brunch for the first time and unfortunately wasn't impressed. Eggs were cooked as ordered but the sausage that came with my Irish breakfast was not cooked through.. was gross and dangerous. They also charge $3.50 for mediocre coffee. Despite the food, our server was really nice and attentive. She also gave us a little discount for the food issue. I doubt that I will return to this pub though. read more

Wow, great pub. Staff was friendly and quick on their feet. I'm a big fan of the ambiance in this joint, a very cozy home-like atmosphere. The wings were on-point, lots of meat on the bone while maintaining a crispy exterior. We ordered the fish and chips, the only regret I had was not ordering another peice of fish. Too good for words that dish was! Fish was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Homemade tartar sauce was delish. That whole plate had me wanting seconds after my last bite. This place is so close by that I'm surprised we overlooked it. When came here for dinner last night and wings were half off since it was Wednesday. We ordered the Cajun wings (dry rub) and they were pretty good. Our entrees were short ribs (very tender) and fish & chips that came with a savory tartar sauce. Nothing special about this pub, typical $6.50 molson pints. When I asked our server if it was happy hour, her response was rolling her eyes at me and saying "I don't know, what time is it?". Yes I have a watch and yes I can read your menu but maybe it is a rhetorical question and your cue to tell me your specials? (which she did not. And did not mention it was wing night, or explain the drink specials at all) The Provincial lager I ordered was brutal. One of the worst beers I have ever tasted and my friend agreed. The server seemed taken aback when we politely told her it was gross and asked for something else. Worst part was it was -18 outside and their furnace was not working, so we sat inside wearing our jackets and gloves drinking our beers. read more

The first time we went to the provincial we were blown away. Amazing food, cool vibe and over & above service. We've been chasing the high ever since. Provincial still offers a good pub scene on the southside with interesting dishes and a wide beer selection. Great food - their Saturday bench menu was fantastic all around. My group ordered 5 or 6 different meals, and everyone was pleased! Unfortunately, the service was not so great. The food took a bit to arrive, which is not the end of the world if it's made well...however, when asking for bills, we waited 20 minutes, only to have the server come by and clarify our orders. Was there for brunch to try it out recently and I was shocked. As a fan of craft beer I heard a lot about about this place. The food is excellent and the dessert -- yes, dessert -- is all handmade and delicious. If you don't know what to try for beer, the bartender will give you some samples and he is passionate about local craft beer. I've been to a few brew pubs in Edmonton, but the Provincial Pub is probably the only one in the city that has craft beer stocked from local breweries like Alley Kat and Ribstone Creek. This pub is right across whitemud from our Townhouse, so I've been eyeing it up for a few months now since we moved in. A couple of weeks ago, I was craving Eggs Benedict and I didn't have some of the ingredients I needed, so I suggested we go out for brunch and try this place. My spouse and I met his mom and sister there. We arrived a bit earlier than his mom and sister, so we were going to get an appetizer to start because we were getting "hangry" at this point. The waitress seemed like she was having a bit of a bad day. We asked to see a regular menu so we could order an appetizer and were told that only their (limited) brunch menu was available until later in the afternoon. So we ordered some fries to start. Their Fries are DELCIOUS. Once everyone was there we all ordered. The food was mediocre. My eggs benedict was okay, but there could have been more hollandaise sauce and the hollandaise sauce could have been a bit less lemon-y. The portions were good and the prices were decent. My fiancée and I came here last weekend. For a Saturday night it was pretty chill. I was worried it was going to be super packed. We were there for dinner. Got the calamari to start, WOW! Best calamari we have ever had! Nice and crunchy, not too salty, perfect. We both had their Baby Back Ribs as our entrees. That was very good as well, we had to eat it with forks because the meat just falls off the bone. Our server was amazing, super fast, no glass went empty while we were there. Like raw wings? This is your place! A friend and I dropped in for wings and beer. The wings had a rubbery texture. The texture that typically says "I'm not quite raw but not quite cooked" That was our first warning sign. My friend's next wing had pink meat with a red bone. RAW! Crispy on the outside with a purely raw center. I called over our server (receipt said she was Shayla) and politely pointed out to her that based on color and texture that our wings were clearly not cooked properly. Get this. She said with a straight face "We've had people complain before. Our wings always look like that and the cook says they are fine." No concern at all. No offer of trying to make it right.
