We decided to take a short trip out of Melbourne to try our luck at finding some kangaroos and koalas in their natural habitat, and to take a break from the city, needless to say we saw plenty at sundown the day we arrived. Staying in Bairnsdale we wanted to see what else the area had to offer so the next day we decided to visit Lakes Entrance after lunch (which was at a fantastic restaurant in Lindenow). Other than the views (scenic lookouts) there wasn't much else at Lakes Entrance so we were desperate for other things to do in the area. With a bit of googling we were fortunate enough to find Nullamunjie Olive Oil and The Pressing Shed - thank goodness!! The Pressing Shed is set in a picturesque valley with hilly pastures and green/yellow fields. The cafe is clean and modern with a wonderful front terrace for outdoor seating adjacent the Olive Grove. The food is fresh, simple and tasty, we ordered a small charcuterie platter and salad to share along with vino. After lunch we needed a little break before dessert so took a stroll through the Olive Grove, about 30 minutes, before returning for Olive Oil cake and coffee. The day was perfect. Service was friendly and inviting. I loved how all the food and wine was curated locally, but the setting was serene and blissful. The Pressing Shed Cafe made our trip! If we hadn't found it I have no idea what we would've done that last day in the area. read more
