Showed up early, said they wanted to get the work done because it was just too hot outside to work. he was polite but seem to have a bit of a chip on his shoulder about everything. The posts were installed as requested but they took no care in terms of tidiness or the ground around the posts. Landscaping fabric was just torn up to get it out of the way. Left the dug out mud and gravel around the post scattered around the work. I would look elsewhere next time. Price was exactly as quoted. read more

This guys a joke! DO NOT USE! I made an appointment for this scatterbrain clown to come drill holes due to a neighbour who used him.....my fault for not trusting my gut when I spoke to him. here I am home waiting for my appointment and HOUR BEFORE calls me whining ohhhh I never realized you are in Selkirk its $100.00 more! As I'm stunned wondering how do you do business and question this extra 100 he says I don't understand the problem why your upset. than doesn't show up ghosts me! So I spend the afternoon calling around with this rain everone tells me fat chance but I bet half of the companies I called actually said "BRENTS still in business?" Apparently this is common practice for this clown. I'd love to mention the companies that said this but have a peak at the 2 reviews I give the 2 that would squeeze me in this week! I actually was prepared to eat that hundo because of the rain but the GHOSTMAN never showed. Just to add he was whining how cheap he was compared to others.....DO your research my fault for not! THE GHOSTMAN is actually the highest of all. PLEASE people watch out for this grifter! read more

Look elsewhere. Manager was difficult to deal with and got very offended when I asked questions. Refused to do my job. Not impressed with his business and very unprofessional. I would suggest looking elsewhere for your post levelling needs. read more

Brent "The Post Man" was great to work with!! We discussed the job over the phone, and he gave a firm quote (which he stuck to) and instructions on how to prepare our job sit for him. The ground was still frozen solid when we started scheduling in April, so he gave an estimation of when he thought the ground would thaw, so I could order the Shaw and Hydro ground inspections for the best 2-week window (yes, in Winnipeg the ground inspection to allow you to dig ins only good for two weeks, for some silly reason). Anyhow, Brent's estimation was perfect, and he was able to come dig our posts a week earlier than we expected!! We were very happy about this. He and his assistant made quick work of the job, gave great advice where I was unsure of how close they could get to the back land curbs. All the posts were level with each other so I didn't need to trim any of them in place, and they are all straight and in-line. Our yard has tons of roots and buried concrete chunks, but Brent was able to adapt and make sure the fence would go where we wanted it. He stuck to his price despite the extra work of needing to work around major obstructions. I was able to start building the fence that very afternoon (13 hold dug in about 2 hours). My only constructive feedback would be to warn clients of what a mess the little auger makes, and even offer to have the clay/mud removed for an added fee (I definitely would have paid more for this service). I have never had 6" posts dug before, and hadn't considered how much work it was going to be to remove everything that came from the holes (not Brent's fault, at all, but it would be a nice added service since he's got a truck and a strapping, strong helper who could probably really help with spite cleanup). We will definitely hire Brent again if we need to build another fence in the future. Great guy - 25+ years experience. read more

The Post Man - Brent "The Post Man" put in these fantastic 6X6 posts for me in rocky, rooty terrain. - Fences & Gates Near Me

We requested a fence post installation (18 posts) in the exact place as our existing old fence that had fallen over in high winds. Booked them three weeks in advance. They didn't come in advance to check it out or anything. Arrived and informed us the line was too close to the utility lines and they didn't have time to hand dig it as they were overbooked. They used their machine to dig a few holes (45 mins) charged us $375 and left. I feel like they should've said they wouldn't be able to hand dig if that was the case? Instead I got the same lecture three times about how they couldn't dig with their machine too close to the lines, which no one waa suggesting they do. So I asked if they could hand dig and they said no? I feel like the correct amount of time should've been allocated for the job, and I shouldn't be expected to know which ones could be hand dug or machine dug? That should be part of the initial assessment. Now we're scrambling. read more

Did an amazing job setting up the posts aligning them perfectly. They were right on time and finished the work quite fast.

These two gentleman were booked one day before and showed up with smiles on their faces and banged off 20 posts in less then two hours set perfectly to height and directly in line., Incredible craftsmanship for a great price! i will never do my own posting again as long as these guys are around! Highly recommend 10/10! read more

When I do a review I try to look at everything from start to finish. I tend to break it down by half stars & that determines the end result. 0.5 -Star for returning our messages when trying to book. 0.5 - The person booking on the phone was professional and asked clarifying questions. 0.5 - They showed up on time and did the job they were suppose to do. 0.5 - The post were level vertically with the ground. -0.5 - The contractors were professional, but very curt. They told us they were busy and had 8 other jobs that day. They seemed to care more about quantity over quality. -0.5 - They were in such a rush they ripped down the markers I had for the project and dug the holes. Start to finish they were onsite no more than 30 mins for 4 posts. ( I spent 1 hour (surveying, leveling & marker the project site). -0.5 - No site cleanup is available with this company & you half to have your posts onsite first. (not competitive or customer service driven). -0.5 - The posts were all at different depths (some 6' deeper than others) & they were all miss aligned with each other. one post was 5" off from the other. The other two were 3" off horizontally. (no yard is straight, but no thought or time was put in the determine grades). -0.5 - The posts were dry packed, which isn't as efficient as wet packed tampered posts. They also did not put crushed gravel at the base of the posts, only on the sides, which wasn't to my liking. -0.5 - It was a total nightmare the build the structure after their poor work. I had to higher a friend to help line up the structure and all my dimensions were off, which required me to purchase more materials to complete the pergola structure. We had to cut the top off of one of the posts in the ground and attach a new floating post to it in order to line up the posts. Otherwise we would not be able to attach gables/ rafters (in a straight line that is). I will add that I did tell the company it was a structure I was building not a fence. No I would not recommend this company. The time and costs I put into it I might as well rented my own equipment and done it myself. read more

Our experience with Brent at The Postman has been amazing. He was there earlier then he said and was done very quickly giving us more then enough time to get a good start building the fence today. Brent is very friendly, professional and we will definitely be recommending him to friends and family! You won't regret the decision to use this company :-) read more

I would steer entirely clear of The Post Man if I were building another fence. The company had scheduled drilling and setting post holes for me on the Saturday morning of the May Long Weekend. Hydro had been out, I'd removed the old fence, staked the holes on a string line. The fence posts and all of the lumber was on site. When the time came though, I could hear the machine operator complaining that the site was a "jungle" even before I opened the door to greet him. His helper didn't say a word as he railed about the job--how he didn't have room for his machine, how there wasn't enough head room to work, more or less insisting that building the fence was impossible. He called the site a "jungle" again and again, making it pretty clear he'd never seen a jungle. There are some cedars at one end and branches that overhang the fence. I'd thought there was enough room, but obviously this guy was the expert, so I said I could definitely tie the branches up higher. I said I thought access to my yard would be easiest from the side, where my neighbour's driveway ran, but now the guy started in on how the car on the drive would need to move. I said, Sure, that my neighbour was willing to move the car, but also that the driveway was a loop and was wide open from the other side. By the point, though, the machine operator was going on about some damage already on my neighbour's car's bumper. The Post Man's operator had come in hot, was not listening to the answers I gave to his questions, and now, three or four minutes after he'd arrived, he was telling his helper that they were leaving. Suddenly, the guy was abandoning the job altogether. I was lucky that day. After The Post Man guy left, I went to Kijiji and found another company who happened to be free later the same day. Same equipment as The Post Man, charging a few dollars less. The second operator arrived, got to work, had the holes drilled and the posts set in about two hours, so I could built my fence as planned. read more

Totally bogus company. We had been scheduled for three weeks - did all the yard preparation including getting all clearances from Hydro and Shaw. They showed up this morning and were rude, abrupt and said they would wreck their auger if they drilled through some tree roots. They did not have any company logos anywhere - could have been guys from anywhere. We suspect they are contracted-out guys who do this for a cut. So now after waiting 3 weeks we are without posts! Fraud, fraud, fraud. When we called the office to see why this happened the woman who answered hung up the phone on us and refused to speak to us. This is a SCAM! read more

Showed up on time. Price was competitive. Did a fantastic job, posts were straight and solid. Very friendly guys. Highly recommended.

After spending three days digging holes on another fence, everyone recommended calling the post man for the next fence. He was prompt and professional; the machine did an amazing fast job, then we ran into an area where we were too close to hydro; he hand dug the remaining holes (with many roots). That night we were a little concerned that some of the hand dug posts were not deep enough. He responded right away, came out to our house, and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the job. Highly recommend read more
