    So sweet

What a lovely art gallery in the middle of Old San Juan. My husband and I went to lunch and stumbled upon it while we were sight seeing. We love art (and we were in dire need of air condition). We walked in and were greeted and then directed through the exhibition , and ended up in a lovely little gift shop. The exhibition was so beautiful, and very moving. We loved it, and ended up buying a canvas print for our home. There was lots to see in the gift shop, related to both the exhibit and unrelated. We were then invited back to open mic the following evening. I would have enjoyed that, but we were leaving town that day. Anyway, if you like art, when exploring Old San Juan, I recommend checking out the Poet's Passage.

Don't even hesitate coming here. If you love creativity, beautiful art, a nice ambiance, and lots of cool art to buy for yourself or gift, a must stop. The prices are reasonable. You may even meet the artist.

This is mainly an art gallery though they do have space in the back for jam sessions; listen to a live poem recital while sipping on freshly roasted coffee at The Poet's Passage. The cafe serves as an artistic hub for locals to meet, chat and perform. this is right at Plaza de Armas square (a prime spot in San Juan). The exterior features a colonial façade painted bright red with white trim. Inside, colorful art and poetry decorate the walls with local artisan crafts displayed and sold. of course, you won't stop yourself to buy Puerto Rico's famous Souvenir - small replicas of colorful houses or framed paintings. these are must buy

Arte bonito con una tienda. ¡Perfecta para un viejo a San Juan! Compré un libro de poemas y una pintura pequeña.

The "Time Will Tell " poem in the front led me in and I'm so glad. The art in here was so so beautiful and the poetry warmed my heart. When there is passion behind an artist's work, the art speaks for itself. I really connected with Sabrina working the register, she's super friendly and a beautiful soul. I recommend stopping by the poets passage and their sister site, Mi Pequeño San Juan not too far away. They have open mics on Tuesday nights !

Handmade ceramic doors resemble ones throughout Old San Juan.

Great spot for handmade gifts (which they can customize), original poetry and art. They host a spoken word night in the back of the store. Shopping here supports a local, woman owned business.

The Poet's Passage was one of my favorite places we visited in San Juan. As a writer (both for fun and professionally), I loved reading the poems on the different items in this shop and seeing the prints in the art gallery. The shop is beautifully decorated and offers lots of great gifts or souvenirs to take home. My husband purchased several prints for our home, and the staff members were nice. The shop has a coffee shop next door, and we didn't get a chance to try it on our visit, but it seems like a fun place to hang out, grab a coffee, and listen to a poetry reading.

Perfect Mother's Day gift for any mom you know!

Stumbled across this shop from one of their pieces they had displayed on the window ... not knowing I'd find the perfect pieces for my outdoor garden. The two girls that were working in the shop were one of the nicest people I have met on this island! I wish I could've made it to the open mic they hold every Tuesday @ 7pm but I was still able to walk away with a piece that she picked for me in memory of my grandma that almost had me bawling in tears... it was perfect.. I had to hold them tears back' Beyond grateful for this shop! Will be back for more pieces on my next trip

Loved it here! Chill atmosphere, positive vibes, and talented volunteers. People from expert to novice got on the mic for poetry, spoken word, short songs, instrumental pieces, self-made beats, interpretive dancing, and much more! Tuesdays are open mic nite. This was definitely a different experience that I'm glad I didn't miss out on. Surprisingly, they were serving lasagne at the cafe there and it was delicious for only $5 or $6 too. They also had carrot cake cupcakes when I went, though I believe they change their bakery items often, it was perfect and served warm! Delicioso!

Soon as I posted that I moved on Instagram everyone told me I had to visit this little gem - so I did. I stopped by yesterday (Thursday August 26, 2021) the vibe was everything I hoped and more. Quiet - with beautiful music playing through out. I was able to roam about freely and just enjoy the atmosphere. I picked up the latest book by Lady Lee Andrews entitled, "Me" and enjoyed some small talk with the young lady behind the counter (who not only recommended the book but invited me back poetry night on Tuesday.) All in all a great visit, my only disappointment is the cafe is closed so I couldn't hang out vibe and make some beats like I planned. None the less great place for sure and I'll be back.

Out of all the places I have visited in Puerto Rico my favorites were Flamenco Beach, and The Poet's Passage. It is best described as a gallery of words and art, a live museum that is ever changing and evolving, and the entire place is packed with love, creativity and beauty. I left completely inspired and truly touched. If you're around on a Tuesday night, go at 7pm to enjoy their magnificent open mic. Oh and they have a magnificent chocolate cake too!

Great store with gifts, souvenirs, and an art gallery. Located across from the park in the center of the old city.

I stopped in here because my sister is a poet and I figured this would be a good place to get her a gift. Such beautiful words! Such great art! Such a reasonable price. Great atmosphere in the store. Norma was so incredibly helpful. Open mic on Tuesdays. I felt inspired when I left. Thank you.

Lovely place with an interactive poetry exhibit. Poetry readings on Tuesday evening. Friendly service. Good gifts from San Juan.

Prices are a bit more than I would like to pay for some of the items (probably due to the touristic location), but some items, especially the smaller jewelry pieces, are more reasonable. Definitely recommend their jewelry for its uniqueness and fashion, but be careful when you are wearing the beaded pieces because they can easily break. I was launching my suitcase into an Uber on a prior trip and broke a portion of a beaded necklace.

A cool shop, and definitely a cut above other souvenir and gift shops, but the most memorable part…read morewas how rude the staff was. When I was trying to check out, the woman wouldn't move the machine that accepts cards, so I had to reach around the register to try to tap my phone. It wasn't working (likely because the angle was wrong). I expected her to move it or help me but, instead, she took a sip of her tea, and just looked at me. I said "I don't know what to do," and she said "I don't either. It's not my problem. ApplePay has been working all day." Then went back to her tea. It was like something out of a movie! I told another staff member, but no help. I finally went back, with my husband's credit card, and she made a snide remark to my husband about me! It was such a surreal experience. Why work in a shop to be a jerk to people?
