I was nervous for her, but she adjusted wonderfully and a huge part of that is the dedicated, passionate, wonderful staff. She adored her time here, and we felt 200% at ease dropping her off each day. The fact it's a non-profit means some fundraisers but we were more than happy to do that as it funds all the amazing little events and special days and field trips they do for the kids. I really appreciated the work to be inclusive, multi-cultural, and the continued growth of the staff as they attended conferences and gained new skills as childhood educators. Even though we had a short term contract they gave my kid 100% from the day we walked in to the our final hour. The manager quit after the fire and they lost a lot of kids because it took so long (six months?) to get the kids back in the centre. Also, if you miss one payment they send a registered letter threatening to take legal action. No email, just a registered letter. No snacks or lunches. The playground is small and concrete. HIghly recommend looking into other alternatives such as Castleview or Freedom - in our opinion, both places are 1000% better. Infant program is good although the senior educator just left and she really was what made it such a great for our infant.

My oldest son attended Positive Path, my middle son is graduating this year and heading to kindergarten, and my youngest still has another two years to go. Over the years, Positive Path has become so much more than a preschool to our family -- it has truly become part of our village. Joanne and Wendy Abbott are sisters, educators, and the heart behind Positive Path. They have created something incredibly special: an inclusive learning centre where children are genuinely seen, heard, supported, and loved as individuals. This is not simply a place where children are dropped off and kept busy until pickup. This is a place of learning. The children have fun, but through that play they are also developing independence, confidence, self-advocacy, problem-solving skills, social skills, and an understanding of what real inclusion looks like. The educators here are exceptional. They know the children, understand their individual needs, celebrate their strengths, and work together with an incredible level of care and teamwork. There is something very comforting as a parent about knowing your child is surrounded by people who genuinely care about them. One of the things I admire most about Joanne and Wendy is that everything comes back to the children. Even the annual graduation Legacy Gift was their idea -- rather than families buying gifts for the owners and educators, graduating families contribute toward something meaningful and lasting for the centre. This year's families funded a beautiful calming sensory space that future generations of children will be able to enjoy. It truly takes a village to raise a child, and Positive Path has been an important part of ours. I genuinely don't know where we would be without the education, guidance, love, and support our family has received here. My son adapted very well to being with the rest of the students. The teachers work very hard with each student on each of their needs, communicating with families about each child's strengths and making sure each child is included. They work hard through any behaviours that can arise as working with approximately 3-5 year old children can naturally occur. These are fabulous and hard working individuals who go above and beyond working, care planning, communicating and supporting each child and family in a unique way. We are very lucky to have such caring people looking after our child and their determination and care for their profession radiates in the work they do and the joy the children having in going there each day to learn.

We found this great child care center after being taken for a ride by another licensed daycare that took our deposit and then left the province. We were a little hesitant after that but once we talked to the owners we decided to try them out. One of the things that intrigued us was the fact that the staff was mostly going to consist of care givers with their ECE's. It gave us comfort knowing that our children were going to be given a good start in preparing them for school. I had a parent who ran an in house licensed daycare and was blown away by what Children of the Island was willing to offer for the fees they were charging. I have personally seen what it takes to care for a group of little people and as each one has their own personality and individual needs it takes the right kind of person. After a couple years the experience has been as promised and then some. They not only met the promised offerings when we first signed on but also added to it. My children have had swimming lessons at JDF, Martial Tots through Crusher Combat Sports, gone to movies, visited the beacon hill petting zoo, gone to Gaileys farm and done excursions to tons of other locations. We also take advantage of the free tutoring for our grade school son and with all of these offerings there has never been a request for extra money to pay for the added activities. Our preschool aged son goes to Children of the Island 5 days a week and we never have to worry about packing snacks or meals. As a matter, of fact we could not make the caliber of meals our son is offered on a daily basis and he has a food sensitivity to dairy. Children of the Island asked nothing more than for us to provide alternative dairy products to their fantastic on staff chef's and they make sure he gets great lunch's and snacks. He eats it up and most days his primary care giver says he goes back for more which is surprising because sometimes it's for food he won't eat at home. This is why we are happy to bring his optional foods. With a facility the size they are running it's understandable that they wanted us to give them the food to prepare. I am sure there are other children with allergies and we didn't want to put them at risk. We are glad they are able to serve up the same meals the rest of the kids are eating as a facility this size couldn't be expected to provide a special meal daily. We are two full time working parents who take great pride in accepting responsibility for who our children will grow up to be both developmentally and socially. We know that not every child could thrive in a large daycare setting like this one but we are extremely grateful that this facility is available to our children for their formative years. .

OK with a few faults…read more Kids seem to be happy, and secure however they have a bad tendance to close services without much advance notice at the first sign of a snowflake. If schools are open so should they. It's incredibly disruptive to working parents to have to rearrange their day at moment's notice.

Furious I am forsure, but very upset for my daughters as to what's going on as I have to (1) find another preschool in the middle of the summer beak and (2) try and make her feel accustomed and familiar to another preschool. I hope no one goes through this - especially over juice ! The actually teachers here are nice , but if you ever encounter or see the head mistress - she can make it the worst experience for you! so it can't really be over juice ... so Why did she do this ? When I first started to look for preschools in Langford I was disappointed to find that there weren't many options, most places I found were day cares trying to pass themselves off as a preschool. Pussywillow is not a daycare, the curriculum is strictly that of a school and the staff have targets and objectives (along with lots of fun, play, and free time) for the children to strive to so that that are well prepared for Kindergarden. I've ven spoken to Kindergarden teachers who can tell if they child went to Pussywillow simply by how they are doing not only academically but also emotionally as well. I would recommend this preschool to anyone, the staff are warm and welcoming and genuinely care about each child that goes there.
