I just came back to work and was recommended this center for my 5month old, I'm so glad I found it, the communication daily is great, I feel So comfortable leaving my daughter there everyday. She's always happy and I can tell by her body language she is growing bonds with her teachers which eases My anxiety so much! The owner was very reassuring and understanding and made me feel very comfortable with my choice in choosing them! Highly recommend!!

Having a great time with friends and discovering what you can make with Play-Doh

After all, as parents, the hardest decision to make is who to trust your baby with. Most tend to stay with what they know, because it's comfortable and proven to be safe even if it doesn't fit each child you have as perfectly as the last. Fortunately for my family, we found the best fit. The fit being Academy of Play. The teachers are all caring, emotionally attentive, and tuned in with each child as if they were their own. The documentation, updates throughout the day, regular photos, lesson plans, and development assessments are comforting and reassuring that my baby is well taken care of. The staff is not lazy when it comes to speaking with the children. Your child will fully be immersed in Spanish. There is no bias if the child does not come from a native Spanish speaking environment or if the child does not have a Hispanic/Spanish/Latin background. The classrooms are bright, clean, and filled with tons of art. There is always an instructor led activity and the school invites families to attend musicals, art shows, and more. The chances to be involved especially the parent/teacher meetings regardless of age does ease a lot of mom guilt I tend to have due to needing to work long hours some days. All children are welcomed and loved. I could not speak more highly of the program.

I have no doubt it is due to the time he's spent with Lisa, Lori, and all of the incredible staff they've had throughout the years there (have to give a shout out to Genna, Jessica, and Teresa :) ) The things that stood out to us as parents that were absolutely invaluable were: -Communication!!! We've used other childcare for our kids and Lisa and Lori have set the bar. They are simply unmatched. They have made it a priority to keep us updated with the day's activities, food and snacks eaten, naps, diaper changes/potty habits, good behaviors and any issues that may have arisen. We looked forward to the pictures and videos we would see throughout the day and we never had to wonder what was going on. As working parents, I can't tell you how much this helped us feel comfortable with our choice to send our son here. -Education: They really value education: reading, number and letter recognition, colors, shapes, puzzles and educational games, educational songs. It's huge. Our son was counting to 10 by the time he turned 2. They had science and language (Spanish and ASL) focused lessons each week. He would constantly come home with new knowledge that blew us away. Their Teddy Bear Express curriculum is fantastic with wonderful themes. As a teacher myself, I cannot be more grateful for all that he learned and that they helped nurture a love of learning. -Organization & Cleanliness: For a home daycare, Lisa has created a perfect separate space for school vs her home. It's organized and clean. The staff checks the play equipment daily to ensure that it is clean, safe, free of bugs/spiderwebs, and sanitized. At meal times and during crafts, they had shirts that the kids would wear to protect their clothing from home from food and craft stains. This is extra but they have turf in the yard so we were grateful that our son wasn't coming home covered in grass, sand and dirt stains as well as no food or craft stains. Lisa is STRUCTURED in the best way. Everyone knows the expectations and routines and it is helpful for the kids and parents know what is going on throughout the day and for the kids to rise to the occasion and get used to a school setting. -Holidays/Themes: Lisa does a wonderful job of decorating for the holidays and making her home and the school setting feel new and fresh. They always had cute holiday crafts to bring home and would build it into their learning too. They have family gatherings for Halloween, Christmas (with Santa!), Easter (with the Easter bunny!), as well as a Mothers Day and Fathers Day party, a valentines exchange, St Patricks Day leprechaun traps. Having those opportunities to meet other families at the family parties was really nice and as a parent, having access to pictures with Santa and the Easter bunny were fantastic. Each week/month also had a different theme for their learning, share day, and Dress Up Friday. It was so fun for our son to dress up, and find items to share with his friends. He loved looking forward to the things he would get to learn about (space, volcanos, fire prevention--with a trip to the fire station!, dental hygiene, etc). They host an annual lemonade stand that the kids help market, organize, and run that we look forward to each summer! -Extras: They provide breakfast, lunch, and 2 snacks throughout the day so no stressing over slow eaters in the morning or packing a lunch. They have color coded water cups so no need to even bring a water bottle. All I had to do in the morning was get him dressed and drop him off and our mornings were so easy. They taught him so much before we even knew he was ready! One day he came home knowing how to get his shoes on independently and was proud to show us! They teach social etiquette like sharing, listening, taking turns, they give the kids daily jobs and responsibilities. They facilitated potty training. They use an app (Brightwheel) to track the day and communicate so it's nice when everything is in one spot. They have Parents Night Out a few times a year and it's wonderful to have affordable childcare where we know he'll have a blast and he's safe. Graduation/Awards ceremonies each year to celebrate the small victories and character awards--bonus, they learn songs to sing to the families which is not only adorable but great practice for all of the elementary school performances to come! When it was time to move on, our son was beyond ready, and was so confident as he started elementary school. It made our transition there so SO easy and I know it was in large part because of his time at My Place Just for Kids. I'm sure it's obvious from the length of this review but I couldn't recommend them enough :)

After nine years with this daycare, starting when our oldest was 2, it's really disappointing that…read morethis is how our time with them is ending. We were told after-school care would be available for the upcoming school year, so we planned accordingly. We also signed a contract for our child to attend through the summer. It wasn't until after that contract was signed that we were told they would no longer be providing after-school care, leaving us about two months before school started to find something else. Anyone who has looked for childcare knows two months is not much time. Most programs already have waitlists by then, which is exactly what we ran into. When families impacted brought up the lack of notice, their response was that information about the school's Expanded Learning Program had been available since May, suggesting we had actually had more time to make other arrangements. Except there was one pretty important piece of information missing in May: they never told us they weren't going to provide after-school care. Seeing information about another program doesn't tell me that I need to find new childcare when the daycare we've used for nine years has told us they'll continue providing it. Had they said in May, "We will not be offering after-school care next year," we would have immediately started making other arrangements. That conversation never happened. Thankfully, my kids' school expanded its after-school program and we were able to get a spot. We got lucky. Unfortunately, that still doesn't solve before-school care, so we're now still trying to figure that out and school started today. I completely understand that programs change. I understand staffing and operational needs change too. My issue isn't that they decided to stop offering the service. It's how and when they communicated it. I also want to be very clear that this review is not a reflection of the teachers who cared for our children over the years. In fact, some of the people there are the reason we stayed as long as we did. Jill and Wafaa, in particular, are two of the most amazing people. They were incredibly kind, caring, and wonderful with my kids, and I will always be grateful for the way they treated and cared for them. They deserve to be recognized separately from my frustration with how this situation was handled. This is also why I have 2 stars instead of just 1. That's part of what makes this ending so disappointing. Our children grew up there. We spent nearly a decade building relationships with people we genuinely care about. After nine years, I would have expected a simple, direct heads-up before families were asked to commit to summer care. And when we expressed frustration about the timing, pointing to information about a completely different program instead of simply acknowledging that they never actually told us their own after-school care would no longer be available made the situation worse. If you're considering this daycare, my biggest recommendation is to get future childcare plans in writing and don't assume that a service you've been told will continue is guaranteed. There are some truly wonderful teachers here, and we will miss them. Unfortunately, the communication and handling of this situation left a very different final impression. Nine years deserved a better ending than this.

First and foremost, I was impressed by the professionalism of the front office staff, particularly Diana. She was attentive, friendly, and readily answered all my questions, which made the initial experience very positive. The school's environment is lovely, with beautiful greenery and well-maintained gardens. During the tour, I had the chance to visit all the classrooms, and I noticed that they were organized and well-kept--definitely one of the better-maintained schools I have visited recently. I also observed the teachers in their classrooms interacting with the students. For instance, in Room 1, the teacher had a lively energy that resonated well with her students, who were all actively engaged and enjoying a fun dance party. However, I did have some concerns regarding the approach of the 2-year-old teacher. I noticed she was pretty loud, and I could hear her raising her voice through the door. When I entered, she stopped, but a crying child was still present. It struck me that her demeanor felt a bit harsh, lacking the warmth and comfort I would hope to see in a teacher for such young children. At a particular moment, I witnessed a child who had just tripped and ran to seek comfort from the teacher, but unfortunately, it seemed that reassurance was not provided. On a positive note, I observed the nursery classroom, which appeared nurturing and attentive. The babies seemed happy and content in that environment. Additionally, the pre-K teacher created a calming atmosphere as soon as you entered the room. The children were engaged in various activities, accompanied by soothing music, and there was a palpable sense of joy and interaction among the kids, indicating effective classroom management. Overall, the school had some standout aspects, but there were also areas where I believe teacher interactions could be improved, especially for the youngest age groups.

After a few weeks there he began to be more like himself, even wore his favorite pink shirt to school! (This was something he'd been bullied for in the past, so this was a big step.) At that moment, I knew he was really starting to feel safe and accepted at LLP. My kiddo is also not one of the kids who sits still very well. He is fidgety and is still learning to be good at circle time. They have been patient with him and have kept me well informed of his progress. They even let me visit the classroom many times to see what they did at circle time, and helped brainstorm ideas on how to get my child to learn to best behave. They have encouraged me and my child, and have been VERY helpful and very good at collaborating with me to think up ways to best help my son overcome challenges, and learn good behavior. They also have been great at being sure to celebrate his successes and his accomplishments, too. They just hosted the preschool graduation and we were thrilled! They had a nice, big ceremony in a nice venue and they put a lot more thought and planning into the event than I ever expected. It's clear that they really care about the children and parents, and work hard to ensure that the families that attend LLP are happy and know they're appreciated. They really know my son, and all of his likes, dislikes, and his charming qualities and what makes him tick. I would absolutely recommend this place to friends and family.

Now that our baby is eating solids we love the convenience of all of her meals and milk being provided (included in the cost!).
