We came for lunch the next day and it was more manageable. We bucked up and dove in. We learned that the drill is to find a table or bar space and order drinks, then peruse the tapa offerings along the bar. You pay when you've ordered the items you want. When you want more, you return to the bar, get more and pay. Tables are precious, but they do turn over so just be patient. The folks behind the bar get busy. If you speak Spanish, you can get their attention more easily. If not, don't be shy, signal you are ready to order. The staff is there to move customers, so be quick about decisions. They do understand and speak some English though there's not much chatting going on. This was some of the best tapas we've had on the the trip and we went to Madrid and San Sebastian. We just picked things that looked interesting not knowing what they were. Everything was delicious. Several items were creamy and rich like the crispy duck, crispy spinach and shrimp, and the sea urchin. The foie gras was cooked just enough to brown but still had plenty of melty richness. We had everything plus 4 beers for about $57. It's a great place and definitely worth a visit if you're in Pamplona.

The texture of the mushroom is perfectly tender (not rubbery). The sauce they pour over them brings the magic umami flavors. The sauce is fat based (oil or butter) with garlic and other unknown magic seasonings. They only make one food, mushrooms, but you wouldn't want anything else. The place is small and popular. It gets super crowded quicky. They open at 7:15pm, which is early time to eat in Spain. However I recommend coming not too long after they open so you can get ahead of the crowds and get place at bar.

This place is iconic. The first thing I would do if I'm ever back in La Rioja is to come here. My husband and I came to Bar Soriano at the request of his cousins who have lived in Logroño for about 20+ years. We tried different "pinchos" (snacks eaten in different bars) on this main street but they told us this place was a MUST. The line was long and the place doesn't look like much, but believe me, totally totally worth it. I cannot explain how good these are. They will stop here and eat before departing on their walk for the day. When we arrived, there was one other customer, happily eating his breakfast, and I think reading the paper. His pack was set by the wall and was alone. By the time we left, there were probably 10 people, all with packs and walking sticks. I ordered a big breakfast since I was quite hungry, and we had a 3 hour plus drive back to Madrid. The huevos fritos, jamon y patatas (egss, ham and potatoes) were my breakfast. While they were not the best I'd ever had, they did hit the spot and get me going. The real winner here was that they opened early and really catered to the pilgrim, which I thought was pretty special. If I'm in Santa Domingo again, whether staying at the Parador or hiking the Camino de Santiago (may do this one day), I'd try to come back here.
