Why? It's the effort and extra touches -- we didn't just get a tub of fried rice with a few slices of meat on, we got a huge tub with all kinds of lovely veggies, meats, and extra sauce, which is almost unheard of. We didn't just get curry with some chicken, prawns and peas, we got -- again -- a range of veggies, meats and such. The chips were delicious too, although I'm partial to Chinese style chips. To top it off, they were really friendly and clearly cared about their business and their customers. It really was one of the best special curry, special fried rice, and chips orders I've made -- and this has been my staple at Chinese takeaways since I was eating at Golden Wall back when I was a kid. Perhaps I'm a dullard, but I always share the same thing avec ma pere; a special curry and special fried rice. It only costs in the region of a tenner (perhaps a few quid more) and is ample for two, especially since you get chips or rice to accompany the curry as standard. The service has always been fantastic and the chap who's run the place, ever since I was a child, is simply lovely. If you're considering eating in and want someting filling, tasty and huge I highly recommend you give Golden Wall a go! It's down Long Street, the official road of take aways in Dursley seemingly. They don't do delivery (if I remember correctly) but this isn't much of a problem to the majority, of whom drive anyhow. Really not a lot else for me to say, except that I can't think of a nicer place to grab a Chinese curry - in the UK!

The food is good, reasonably priced, and the service friendly (unusually!) and quick. Ringing ahead at busy times is a Good Idea, but that's often the case with decent takeaways. Also somewhat unusually, they're happy to customise dishes for you, whether you like something extra-hot (or milder than usual) or you're like me and prefer no ham in your house special fried rice! Frankly, I think their pizzas are better than those at Pizza Planet (although we can deduct a fistful of points for the service and the price) but stay away from the burgers at all costs. I mean it. There are no surprises here, but I actually think that their humongous mixed kebabs represent pretty good value for money and the quality has stayed consistently high. Even if the staff do look at you as though you just came in wearing a dead badger on your head. In many ways, they're much like Parisian waiters but with more stubble ;)

I've often stopped there for a breakfast baguette at the start of a busy Saturday! Basically, it's all good the food is freshly-prepared, inexpensive and made up quickly while you wait. If you needed to put a picnic together in a hurry you could do far worse than just stop in here! The surroundings are a bit dismal but it's not an eat-in establishment, so how much do you care? The girls doing the hard work tend to get a little grumpy during busy periods, but smile sweetly and they're fine :) Recommended.

They're more expensive than the Golden Wall, less friendly, and the food is inferior. I've had dried up rice, flavourless main dishes and generally substandard fare on many occasions as they're within walking distance of me, they've had more chances than I've given most other places! If the Golden Wall is open, go there instead.
