I rebuke my last review!!…read more I do not recommend sending any two year old here, for a Christian School the behavior of the kids biting have no consequences and never take action. They continue to let the children bite innocent children that have no say because they are too young to express the hurt. But as long as they get their weekly pay that's all that matters to this childcare facility! Greed is not running a good business when children are being bit ... 4 bites in 5 days ... that's what has been happening to my grandson... since being here he's been bitten 18+ times!!! What would you do when as a single mom that has to keep her child in daycare???

Her teachers have been great and always provide updates on how her day went. You do need an app to unlock the front and back door which gave us a great sense of security and there are observation windows outside the infant classrooms and classroom cams in the lobby in case you want to check on you kiddo without any disruption. There is also an app where we were provided updates, when our daughter was fed, changed and any learning activities for that day/week (along with pictures)!! I can't say enough great things about Pillars on Reed road and I wish we didnt have to leave but so happy that we were able to enroll our little for the short remaining time we have left here.

Right from the start of school, there were some major issues - not enough teachers, the school director wasn't on top of things, and the school was all over the place. While my child was there for about a year and a half (I didn't have other choices at the time), she went through a lot of things that I thought were really not okay. The teachers always had excuses that didn't really make sense. What really upset me was when my child came home with marks one day. She had marks that looked like they were from an adult's nails, but they said it could have been from a bush or another kid's hand. I had already talked to the state about problems before, but I didn't see any improvements. The school director and the person in charge of the area just gave me excuses. Nothing worse than your child lifting their arm and saying "dada ouch, dada ouch" over and over. Because of what she went through from the start, my child started biting as a way to protect herself from all the bad stuff. I had cameras on her all day, so I know how often it happened. But the teachers didn't seem to notice as usual. After an investigation, they kicked my child out for biting. On that same day, we got a call from a much better school nearby. Since she moved there, my child is doing so much better - learning more, talking and signing better. I really think the old school and its staff were holding her back. If I could rate that place, I'd give it a 0 for all the awful stuff we had to deal with. Do your child a favor and stay away from here.

If you're looking to endure a three-month waitlist, pay over $650 for what amounted to a week of…read morechildcare, only to be abruptly left without care, Children's Lighthouse at Potranco is precisely the place for you. Our experience at this facility was a nightmare of financial exploitation, alarming safety negligence, and profound inconsistency. We paid a non-refundable $150 registration fee three months in advance to hold a spot for our two-year-old daughter. After this three-month waitlist, she was permitted to attend for less than six full days (she was dismissed just 2 hours into her sixth day). In total, we paid over $650 for this minimal care, only to be abruptly left without childcare. The billing issues were relentless and unethical. We were unjustly charged an annual curriculum fee of $185. When questioned about this for a child who barely attended, they refused to waive the full amount, reducing it only to $50. This clearly shows their priority is collecting maximum fees, not providing fair service. When trying to work out these discrepancies, we were repeatedly cited 'policy' and told there was nothing they could do. We were instructed to contact Cyndi, the Executive Director. We emailed her and never received a response. Upon following up, the admin staff claimed Cyndi was on vacation and would get back to us, but she never did. The very next communication we received was a collections call demanding an additional $50 for an outstanding tuition balance, specifically for a day our daughter wasn't even able to attend since she'd already been dismissed. This call came with an explicit threat to send the bill to a collection agency and impact our credit. This is egregious. Their stated reason for dismissal was 'safety concerns,' a claim that directly contradicted a conversation we had with our daughter's teacher just the Friday before. The teacher explicitly reassured us that our daughter's behavior was typical for a two-year-old and that she had seen 'worse children eventually thrive.' Our daughter was not even given the opportunity to adjust or grow, despite this assessment. This is especially frustrating given that she thrived for over a year at Children's Lighthouse of Alamo Ranch (same franchise, different owner), with no similar issues or an excessive number of reports. Beyond our personal ordeal and the unfair charges, we observed a critical and alarming safety hazard at the Potranco location: the playground is situated directly adjacent to the parking lot with only a thin fence and absolutely no bollards separating the play area from moving vehicles. I attached pictures of this flimsy barrier, which has already been struck by a vehicle. This deeply concerning lack of protection is eerily similar to the tragic incident at ExcellED Montessori Plus Daycare Preschool near Fair Oaks Ranch this past January, where a child died due to a comparable setup. While the teachers at CLH Potranco seemed genuinely friendly, it's clear they are visibly overworked. The administrative staff at the front desk consistently appear disengaged and unhelpful, offering no support or solutions regarding our daughter's situation or the egregious billing discrepancies. This facility's readiness to dismiss a toddler for subjective 'safety concerns' while neglecting a glaring, objective safety risk for all children, coupled with their predatory billing practices, refusal to communicate, and passing accounts to collections with credit threats... it's truly beyond frustrating.

Tuition was lower than the previous daycare. The staff always have a smile on their faces and seem excited to be with the kids. Our child has learned a lot, made lots of friends, and always looks forward to school! The only thing I miss from the last daycare is that we received more updates throughout the day, like if my child ate all of her food and if they went potty successfully. The other daycare also had cameras streaming. Lighthouse does but it's paid separately.

However, storing cots in bathrooms(major red flag)completely unacceptable! As an early childhood educator with over 20 years of professional experience, this practice has never been allowed and raises serious health, safety, and licensing concerns. Programs should strive to exceed minimum standards--not settle for what is considered "acceptable" in Texas. This mindset is part of why Texas ranks so low nationally in education. Parents need to pay close attention to these details. Additionally, communication with assistant teachers needs significant improvement. The level of care and oversight from the lead teacher to assistants in the afternoon is lacking and needs immediate attention. After school care providers never seem to know what going on. Get to know your kids, on an individual level, know their needs and pay attention. Toddlers/preschoolers should not be without water especially during snack or meal times.

Communication was constantly a struggle -- I was often called at work about missing items even though I always asked ahead of time if anything was needed. When I did get updates, it was usually last-minute, leaving me scrambling within an hour to fix things. What hurt the most was when my child was hit in the face by another student, and I wasn't told until more than three hours later. No parent should have to find out something like that long after it happens. As a foster parent, I work hard to give my children stability and comfort, but this school made that transition so much harder than it needed to be. I truly hope no other parent has to go through what we did. Please look for a different preschool where your child will be cared for, and where you'll be treated like a valued parent -- not an afterthought.

My son has been bitten twice by the same child and there seems to be no consequences to the biter. When I arrived to pick up my child after the second time he was bitten, a staff member merely told me that the director wanted to speak with me. She didn't tell me anything about the bite; I had to hear it from the director, who was very nonchalant about the ordeal. I told her that other facilities take biting seriously. I tried to remain calm. When bathing my son, I got to look at his injuries. This is unacceptable! I was in tears. My baby was badly bitten and I should have been called to be made aware of the incident and the teacher should have told me when I arrived. Trash. They also have the tv on for hours! The director told me when I asked about the tv's, "it's only on at drop off and pick up for a little". I came to find out for myself and also from a staff member that the tv is on from 6AM through breakfast (8Am) and around drop off (4:30-close). I am not paying this place to poison my child with tv! Awful. There seems to be no curriculum in place, they accept cash or check which is super shady, their facility is small and their staff is smaller. Their staff don't even seem to enjoy working there. They aren't friendly, don't greet you when you come in, and don't approach you to tell you about your kid's day. At drop off, they're watching the tv with the kids. I wish I could get a refund for this wasted money. I do believe they charged me too much initially but was told they'd "get back to me" on a refund. I'm glad a spot opened up at JBSA Lackland for my son. Oh and their gates are unlocked...who knows if kids could easily escape. Save your money and go elsewhere.
