A day pass is $60. I know that's not the norm and most people buy a season pass, but there's nothing worth $60 there. The slides are fun, but we went on the 4th of July and the two yellow slides and the speed slide were closed. Also, the cocktail bar on the boardwalk was closed as well with some other food options not running either. There's not an abundance of rides, so when multiple are closed, you are disappointing your customers. Aesthetically, the park needs updated. Walking around and seeing areas with overgrown weeds and weeds coming up from under the boards just says "we don't care". The landscaping used to be pristine and now it's either just mulch or overgrown weeds. At the lazy river, the containers for shoes had some very gross mold or something all along the bottom, so we didn't put our shoes there. On some of the building walls by the lazy river, there was mold or something growing on them. Simple power washing can fix these things. People want to walk through and feel like you care about their experience. The "bar" had frozen drink machines that just didn't freeze all day and the worker even said "if you want something of a frozen consistency, you are not going to get it" and then continued selling watery non-frozen drinks from the machine and pouring some alcohol in. For $16 a drink, I passed. Sandcastle could be amazing, but the owners need to add new attractions, make sure rides and food stands are open for people and keep the area clean. It felt dirty in many places when we walked around. Lastly, whoever is in control of the music piping through the park needs a different job. The music was awful on repeat all day.

Overall, Sandcastle is a fantastic place to spend a summer day with family and friends, and I highly recommend it!

The lines for all rides were moving fast, 5-10 minutes at the most. I love that all the rides are geared for smaller kids. We weren't interested in any of the water rides, so I have no comments on that part of the park. But everything else was very enjoyable and nice! Staff was amazing, very caring and polite.

It has a dedicated lap swim lane at all times. It has a waterside, low diving board, water tunnel sliding board, water climbing wall, sand volleyball court, grassy play areas, concession stand with large variety of foods, drinks & desserts & bathrooms with showers & changing rooms. There are giant umbrellas for shade, and many lounge & some Adirondack chairs. You can get water wings, or life vests for your kids there if needed. This is not a county pool like North Park Pool. NPP is run by the county. Cranberry is run by the township (not Butler County) & managed & staffed by high school kids. Instead, Settlers Cabin Park is one of the spots I frequent these days - for exercise, for a literal change in scenery, and to unplug from the current day-to-day of working at home. I want to mention early that part of the beauty of this 1,600+ acre county park is that it was once the site of various coal mines - this gorgeous space has been restored to what you see when you visit it now. Knowing that adds another level of appreciation, at least for me! After its history, the second biggest reason I love Settlers Cabin Park is the number of trails available to use. If you check out their website and maps, you can see an overview of the five or six total trails here. Some of them are on the shorter side, others are longer, and a lot of them directly interconnect at different points. That makes it easy to explore more than one trail in a single visit - one day I started out on the green trail, somehow went far enough to get to the purple trail, and finished the loop back to my car on the blue trail. (I promise, that will make more sense after looking at a map!) There are other things here besides the trails - tennis courts, field hockey, playgrounds, pavilions, wave pools, etc. Interestingly, Settlers Cabin Park is technically also home to the Pittsburgh Botanical Garden, which is another outdoor spot I adore. For the trails alone, I consider Settlers Cabin Park to be my perfect escape these days. I can hike anywhere from 1.5 to 6 miles, at any pace that I want. Bonus points - as long as I don't mind the hilly climbs involved, I can take some time to enjoy the sight and sound of the park's baby waterfall. (Some articles call it a mini waterfall, but given how small it is, I call it a baby!) Any time I spend here is always time well spent, and I'm sure I'll be back again soon.

Other amenities are a nature center, golf courses, swimming pool, ice rink, dek hockey rink, ballfields, shelters, off-leash areas for dogs, basketball courts, archery range, tennis courts, fields for radio-control airplanes, Go Ape zip lines, etcetera! This park even has a restaurant and an ice-cream shop. For several years, I have visited this park. Most often I take my dog to the dog park. I have also hiked the trails and enjoyed the beautiful plants and wildlife. I consider this park to be a blessing to the residents of the Northern suburbs and to non-local visitors.

A great inexpensive community pool, with a shallow pool for kids…read more We wanted a couple of hours of cooling down after a day of hiking (Jun 2026). We tried out the pool at the George C. Edwards Community Aquatic and Recreation Complex at Garrett College. It's a full set of athletic facilities. We focussed on the kid's pool. It's at the end of the large lap pool. We spent most of our time in the 2ft-8in-deep shallower somewhat-separate section of the kids' pool, which the younger children (and their parents) were more comfortable in. The 3-year-olds entered via a long ramp, and made forays from the separate stairs to practice short swims to their parents. By the end of an hour, they were bravely taking swims in the middle of that shallow area. The 7-year-old swam happily end-to-end there, and then accompanied an adult into the larger deeper main 4ft-3in-deep section of the kids' pool. And at the end, we turned on the jacuzzi-like bubbling in the shallow section, much to everyone's delight! A grand finale! Most of us stayed with the kids, though one or two,swam some laps in the adjacent adult pool. The cost was quite reasonable! $15 for one adult, or $30 for four. Seniors and teens $10, younger $5, below 6-yrs-old for $2. On weekends, there's hours when it's only $6 per person! You pay at a small desk just inside the entrance, just past the Amazon delivery lockers and the shelf of shared books to read. We all burned off excess energy before dinner. And we saw a beaver in the grassy area on the right as we turned north on Garrett Highway afterwards! A perfect afternoon!

I could enjoy the opened rides many times over without waiting. The issue was that a lot of rides were closed due to the weather and because there were so few people in the park. Their Halloween event felt drastically understaffed, too. Despite the event being recommended for 13+ aged guests, many adults still let their small children stay (strollers and all). Not only was I disgusted that parents could be so negligent, but this combined with the very few roaming scare actors made me feel like I paid for Kiddie Land, not Phantom Fright Night. The park itself is fun. I loved the rides and the food, but I left early on a somewhat sour note.
