A dumpster fire is more effective than trying to have your payroll processed here. They have a very rigorous method for setting their payroll system up. They don't care about accommodating to your needs as a business or how your framework has worked for you in the past; they only know how to do things one way (their way) and that's how things are done. We have been using the Payroll company for a few months now and I am pretty unimpressed. It seems that their control systems could use a lot of work. Our problem stems from the fact that we changed our company's banking to a new bank. This should not cause any problem right? Companies do it all the time right? You would think this as I, of course, notified them of the change three months ago. I sent in a form and a voided check from the new account. . But despite going through the process of doing all that. And despite the fact that they have pulled payroll from the new account. This past payroll they tried to pull the funds from the old account. When they got the NSF response they sent me a nasty-gram about the right to charge a $150 penalty. I alerted them to the fact that they might be trying the old account and gave them the last four digits of the new account. I also verified that there was amble funds to cover the payroll. Today I notice that they have pulled the payroll from our new bank account, twice. Now we are over drawn. I alerted them to the error and got a stock email reply with a case number. When I had heard nothing more after a couple hours I called. I was told that, "Someone will get back to me later today." When you pull thousands of dollars out of someone's account mistakenly, I think you should have a better answer than, "later today." I think moving our payroll to these guys was a mistake. read more

In almost 20 years of doing payroll in-house I have never experienced an IRS agent walk into our business and hand-deliver a notification that our previous year's quarterly tax form had not been filed. Yet, this was our experience with The Payroll Company, and when I contacted them to find out what the heck was going on, they responded only that there was a problem with the file sent last fall and they resent a certified copy last week. No apology, no further explanation. Unfortunately this was our FOURTH tax notice in 3 years that there was a problem with our return or we owed back taxes, despite our signed agreement that The Payroll Company would file and pay all employment taxes in a timely manner. The level of incompetence within the company is truly astounding. The technology issue in April of this year was the last straw. Our employees could not get paid on Friday because The Payroll Company system was down and not able to process our payroll, so all of our employees had to wait until the following Monday to receive their direct deposits. As a PAYROLL company, when you fail to accurately do PAYROLL in a timely manner and cost your customers time, money, business and employees (2 employees quit after not being paid on time), you've failed as a company. I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

Our company had used this company in the past for a short period of time during 2015, Which was not remotely close to PAYCHEX who are amazing in all areas. I had reached out to the Payroll Company and asked for an old report which we had paid for the services provided in full during the time we contracted them, I was told that it would cost an additional $85.00 to have access to these reports, which I agreed to because there was no other option, paid and was assigned a case # I was just informed that I wont be able to get any reports today or in the future here's the nice email I was sent with no further information After further review of your account the Payroll company will not be able to grant any access to any reports. So I'll advise anyone that is looking for a company to handle their companies payroll to look else where so you don't look for a report that you clearly pay for not once but twice to be given the run around and in the end be told to go to hell. And we additionally take advantage of the multi-employer 401k profit sharing plan. The 401k Plan is an inexpensive way to offer and professionally managed 401k plan to our employees and owner.
