Went here for the first time recently for a drag show and was not disappointed. The queens put on a great show and even hung out with the crowd for a bit after their performance. The DJ was also fantastic. Obviously, being a lesbian, I'm not quite their target audience, but found the patronage to be very welcoming. The line to get in moved quickly and the cover was very reasonable. That being said, the drinks were slightly pricey for the strength and quality, and it was a bit difficult to get the bartenders attention despite it being not very crowded. I always feel safe coming to The Park. They take security seriously which gives LGBTQ+ people peace of mind. This place can be insanely busy, but the bartenders are quick to serve you! Drag shows every weekend are great! This is my favorite place to spend a Saturday night. They take card and cash. The bathrooms are not gender neutral, but hopefully that will change! read more

This place definitely gave me a positive impression of Roanoke, VA. I would never have expected there to be a lively gay dance floor in the city! The club is definitely gay bar (with plenty of pride flags to prove it), the crowd is amazingly friendly and mixed with a large number of heterosexual couples and even a few raver kids mixed in for good measure. Apparently, this is the place to go dancing, regardless of who you are. The Park definitely had its fair share of oddities. They only serve beer, cider and other bottled drinks (like Smirnoff Ice), but they are very reasonably priced ($2-$4 each). And, on Saturday night, which is when we went, you are given a ticket for one pass through a free buffet downstairs in the pizza parlor looking lower bar area. read more

"the park" has so much potential. the property is tucked away in a fairly decent and safe place if you don't mind the crack dealers. it's huge - absolutely honking huge. it has a great sound system, awesome dj, fabulous drag shows, one of the best bartenders in town, and i'm not just saying that because i think i slept with him when i was sneaking in at 17, and extremely handsome patrons who know how to shake their groove things. but when i asked why it was so empty on a friday night i was told "the kids are all going to greensboro now". in my humble opinion the roanoke gay community should come together and resurrect the park. help it to remain something special. it's worth it and has great bones....how many gay establishments do you know that has survived since the 70's? it just needs a little fine-tuning. ms. enya salad, ms. savanah savage, ms bechanel and ms-lead all turned a sad day into one i could actually smile about. you "ladies" rock. my thanks also to the young man who saw me getting down with my bad self and stuffed his wallet in my mouth thinking i was having epileptic fits.....you've taught me at my age i should likely remain seated...... read more

We popped in here for a drink, to get out of the house and not have to go too far. Its a little shady looking on the outside but once you get through the door guys, you can tell they're trying to make the place better. The bar staff was very friendly. It reminded me of similar bars back home. We left before it started to fill up. The MAJOR bad part...the dj is horrendous. He only wanted to play bad rap and r & b. You go out to a bar to bounce..not snore. People kept wondering why the dj wasnt fired. I truly hope the owner reads this and dumps him so they can get a real dj to bring some energy and fun to the place. Roanoke is a hick type conservative area with few real variations. I had high hopes for this place. We might try again sometime in the future. This place could make a LOT more money with a dj who doesn't just play what he likes. My partner and I were on our way back home to NYC from visiting family in TN. We decided the make a stop in Roanoke and saw they had a LGBT bar and were SUPER STOKED!! However after getting or Lyft we arrived to an empty parking lot and locked door on a Wednesday when the website stated they would be open from 8-12am. Very disappointed in this place especially since the hours were mis leading online!! A HORRIBLE experience not to mention the club doesn't have any windows and you can barely see the sign. Bah. This is possibly the worst gay club I've ever been to. Maybe it's just the small town vibe, but every time my friends and I would go here we got judgmental looks from the "older" crowd. I never had problems with them, nor were we really "rowdy" in a way that should have thrown off the vibe of the establishment. One set of friends, who weren't a couple in the first place, were both of the "femme" persuasion and were told on their way to the ladies room that they'd "learn" about their proper roles when they got older, essentially that they'd realize that lesbian relationships need a masculine figure in them, by a couple who assumed they were together. Basically, we always felt unwelcome here because the older generation who hang out here tend to think they know better than the younger crowd how being gay works, and are pretty cold to those who don't fit their idea of what it is to be a GLBT person. read more

When I go to visit my family down south I look for local places to go . Couple of years ago I came to the Park and I loved the Pride in the place . I seen a big pride flag and I made me feel safe.. now I came back to this place this past week and personally I did not like the feel anymore. I did not see the pride flag and when I was talking to couple of people and they called it a gay bar or a LGBT bar they got told it's not anymore it's a bar ... I feel you can have a happy place in the middle but I felt like this place is truly trying to go away from that .. I Hurd couple people complain that they seen couple guys kissing. If you take away the safe places and Cater more to the strait world that's what makes us hide because you feel you can't be yourself and afraid that you will be beaten up .. let me close by saying it's a nice place and the bartenders had big smiles on there faces so I felt comfortable with them and with the door men... this is how I felt the place came across, it's only one girls opinion so give them a chance and to the LGBT community don't stop going and keep this place loving for all of us. read more

The only gay club in the Roanoke area and It's terrible. The worst gay club I've ever been to. Everyone knows everyone and stays in their little groups. People are very antisocial and standoffish. They would probably think you were crazy if you didn't know them and tried to talk to them. Most nights its really boring with barely anyone there. A lot of older people, mostly gay men...which sucks if you're a lesbian in your 20's. Also they don't sell alcohol just wine coolers and beer...at an extremely ridiculous price. Go to scorpios on a Sunday night in Charlotte,nc or blue bar in Charlotte...just a short 3 hour drive that will definitely be worth it. read more

This bar is so much fun that my fiancee and I often leave Blacksburg to come party here and stay in a hotel. There is no where else like in our college town. It gets only 4 stars simply because it doesn't serve wine or liquor and they won't take credit cards, so bring some cash and be prepared to drink domestics or flavored malt liquor like Smirnoff Ice. I love this place and have always felt super comfortable when going. Bartenders are awesome and drinks are reasonably priced. The place is typically busy but at times the place is a little boring depending on the DJ of the night. I'd like to add that the woman's bathroom needs a makeover. For example, two bathroom stall doors are missing, toilet seats are missing, and sink faucets are as well. The least you can do is put a shower curtain up in place. In addition, someone obviously doesn't check on whether or not toilet paper or paper towels are in need of being replenished. Make sure to call an uber unless you have 4 wheel drive to navigate through their parking lot (giant pot holes everywhere). All in all, this place is a fun place to hang with friends and I really do love going here because I can be myself with my partner. However, after been to several other LGBTQ bars/clubs this place needs some major upkeep. Which is sad due to them closing years back and then reopening. After the reopen the place was super nice. Love coming on Fridays for the drag night and seeing the drag queens there all amazing and on Saturday I always meet someone new and have a great time weather I go alone or with someone else.. I went to The Park for the first time last night... IT WAS AWFUL. I followed some friends there late at night after 2am. I went there because this place is the only thing open. My friends in front of me did not get charged a cover fee. When I entered about 5 minutes later i was forced to pay 15$ to go inside to find them... I went inside, decided to swing by the bar... IT WAS CLOSED. I paid 15$ to get inside a bar that was closed and would have had everyone out in another 45 minutes. I found my friends within the next 5 minutes then walked out with them and asked the man at the front if it was possible to get my money back since the bar is closed and it had only been about 15 minutes since I entered. The man then got the manager on duty. The manager then proceeded to yell and scream about how he did not care about this and said refunds were never an option. So, if you're looking for a good time and friendly staff.. do NOT go to The Park. read more
