Compared to a lot of the pubs I frequent, this one is quite large and open, but it is also a brewery. When you walk in, there are some couches against the wall, but the centre is just open, no tables, no chairs, just a lot of floor space. I wanted to try a couple of their brews, so I had a half pint of the Bishop's Farewell... mostly because of the fantastic name. Didn't enjoy it. On my second go, had a half pint of the Citra, still a lighter beer, but had a slight finish of citrus which was refreshing and helped curb the bitterness. Inside the bar is at the rear, where through a large window, you can see your pint being pulled straight from the cask. Seating can be limited as it's not a huge pub, and there is smoker's garden area at the rear. Now the beer, I think it is a Batemans pub, so you always see their ales, but they also carry many other real ales. I think they usually have at least 8 different ones on, so quite a few guest beers to choose from.They also have a varied supply of bottled beers including German ones. A friendly local, you'll always find another drinker to strike up a chat with.
